How can I get a collage of my photos as a screensaver?

i had this going, but somehow something that i did changed it and now it looks like it has a linen background. On my old computer i would go to "My control panel" and icons would be there for display. Can I get icons for everything in Window 8?

When playing a slide show there are many nonvisible photos. They appear as "image cannot be edited. The original is offline." Where is it and how can I get it back into my photo library?

What version of iPhoto?
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

How can I create a collage of multiple photos on one slide using Premiere Elements 4.0?

I recently bought Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. I'm having trouble with something and was wondering if anyone could offer any assistance?
I'm creating a slideshow using photos and videos, but with my photos I want to be able to create a few collages, by using multiple photos on the one slide. Usually you just have one photo on the screen and it moves on to the next one, but I'd like to have eg. the occassional slide that I can have say 4 photos overlapping onto each other, like a photo collage. Does this make sense and does anyone know how I can do this? I've searched the instructions and can't figure it out and the Adobe support line said they couldn't tell me but pointed me to this forum...

There are basically two ways, with a variation, to do this.
First, you could size the still images in Photoshop, or other, for the size needed on your Project's screen and then use Motion to position the image where you want it. The variation on this would be to use Motion>Scale to size the image and then Motion to place it where you wanted. You would stack the images on various Video Tracks as necessary.
The other way would be to place the images on the correct Video Track and use the Track Matte to limit the view of that image. You will probably use one of the two variations from the first way (Motion>Scale and/or Motion) to get the image where you want it, but then the Track Matte (building in Titler is easy) to eliminate any extraneous image data.

How can I get Lightroom to download all photos on my turnkey computer afterwich upload w/o long wait

I have a turnkey desktop computer dedicated for photography and video use only. Below is a listing of tech points about the computer. I operate with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection. Also installed is Lightroom 4. I played around with the latter and immediately could appreciate how the software will expedite a lot of the work on photographs. But, and this is a big one, after following through on the advice from several on-line "experts" by having Lightroom incorporate all the images on the computer into the Library, afterwards I could no longer bring up in Lightroom a photo to work on without having to wait ~3 to 5 minutes for each photo.
At some point I counted the number of images on my computer, can't remember how that was done but anyway, about 40,000 keeps coming up in my head. I'm not absolutley sure but it's safe say there are a lot of photos on the computer. My plan is to search through these photos and categorize them under subjects/ideas using Lightroom while still keeping my current filing system by year, month, day and subject. Additionally, in the past few years I have been shooting a lot of RAW images and I believe using Lightroom would help me be more time efficient with any editing needed.
I don't have a lot time/patience to play around with "possible" solutions, but am willing to try someting that has been known to work in cases like mine. At the same time, if my computer set up and/or the number of photos I have installed is prohibitive for Lightroom to operate efficiently, I would be disappointed to hear such but just the same would be very appreciative to know in advance of further futile attempts.

If I understand you correctly, a “bad” photo file will create problems for Lightroom that could include long delays when bringing up any image in the catalogue. So I should do the following:
1.       Start over with a new catalogue. I think I am in that position by default more or less because I could no longer work with any images in Lightroom until after I deleted the catalogue which incorporated all of the images on my computer. It just would not work. Now Lightroom works again but with one folder (a photo shoot) at a time.
2.       I have images on two 1 TB hard drives. Not sure I could get all onto one hard drive. (suggestions)
I was under the impression that Lightoom would search the entire computer and only pull photo images into a catalogue. Is it possible that Lightoom would include video files? I could put all photo images on one hard drive into one folder. That would separate the images from video files. But in the Lightroom cataloguing process, must I direct the process by indicating which folders are to be included in the catalogue?
3.       All my current folders are by year, month, day, and event. However, the numbering system for my Nikon cameras goes to 9,999 and then starts over at 0001. Also, I use two cameras. And, as newer/better cameras became available, I switch cameras. So the number 0001, for example, has probably been used a number of times since I first started using digital. All images are unique within a particular unique folder, but it would be a monster job locating all images with the same number. All folders are unique, but I’m pretty sure there are duplicate numbers among images files. And in some cases, there are duplicate images (with the same image) in different folders.
4.       Does the presence of duplicate images or image numbers in separate folders mean I can’t expect Lightroom to function efficiently?
5.       Is there a step by step process I could use that would allow me to bring in a year’s worth of unique folders containing images at a time, so I could test Lightroom to see if it has been adversely impacted?
6.       I’m not familiar with third party renamers?
7.       I would be lost if I had to let go of (rename) my year, month, day, event organization. I was hoping to use Lightroom to gather from these individual dated folders images I found that fit some theme such as weather, Northwest sports, nature shots, etc., without eliminating my current filing system.

How can I get Photoshop Elements to import photos that it wrongly indicates are wrong or in catalog?

Had 17,000 photos on harddrive before installing Photoshop Elements 11 today. Had them well organized in a number of folders under My Pictures. PS found and imported only 467 photos. I tried Search, Browse, and import Files; was able to highlight folders and individual photo files. When I clicked Get Media, it processed for 20 seconds and came back with message that "Files are not in correct format or are already in the catalog." In fact, they are in the correct format (jpg - able to easily view with other programs) and they are NOT visible in the catalog. I went into Control Panel and enabled the Watch service, listed all of the files that PS had not imported from, and still cannot show more than 467 of my photos. Very frustrating, any suggestions? Running Win 7 on 6-months old Sony that plays Blue-Ray, with 8 GB RAM and quad core Intel processors.

This forum is amazing - thanks to all who responded over the weekend. For future users, some replies I found helpful: 1. allow a lot of time for the cataloging process. I had not realized it would be such a slow and incremental process but a day later it is continuing to add to the catalog - am now up to a couple thousand in the catalog, 2. turning off Organize and Stack visually-similar, and the corrective functions during the initial process speeds things up, 3. go into Control Panel, Administrative, Services and activate the Photoshop Elements watch function as soon as you install Elements, 4. it was helpful to repair/optimize, and 5. if you realize it is really messed up, uninstalling Elements and re-installing may work better than lots of little tweaks and fixes. Now if I can just figure out how to get photos ordered by actual date taken rather than random future dates that my camera or previous version of Elements 8 apparently assigned....

How can I get IPhoto to identify duplicate photos so I can delete them?

I have accidently created copies of hundreds of photos in my library. Not sure how really. Can IPhoto identify the duplicates in my library so I can delete them on mass? Some of the them have three or four copies in different albums. I am concerned if I try to do the eliminating manually I will either miss some or delete something important.

iPad can print wirelessly to AirPrint-enabled printers. You can print from the following iPad built-in apps:
Mail—email messages and viewable attachments
Photos and Camera—photos
Safari—webpages, PDF files, and viewable attachments
iBooks—PDF files
Notes—currently displayed note
Maps—view of map showing on the screen
Other apps available from the App Store may also support AirPrint. An AirPrint-enabled printer doesn’t require printer software; it just needs to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as iPad. If you’re not sure whether your printer is AirPrint-enabled, refer to its documentation.

How can I get my macbook to load photos on Pinterest the little spinner in the address bar spins forever.

I have never been in apple communities so I may not be posing this correctly. Here goes. When I go to my Pinterest account sometimes the pin photos to not appear. If they do and I go to my pin boards none of my pin photos show.
I have turned off my modem, wireless router and shut down my mac numerous times. I have done the disk scan and ran it and it fixed what ever was wrong. Still have the problem. I saw and printed instruction for shuting down the computer and then restarting it while holding down the alt key. Choosing the second option avoiding the macintosh hd option. when the choice loads choose the 'utility disk', then from there run the verify disk scan and click repair disk....then run verify disk permissions scan ,,, then restart
Does this sound feasable ??? I have never done anything like this on my mac and only once a billion years ago on an old pc (safemode?)...
It is just scary to me. I am not afraid to try but would like a little more info on where or what I might be flying into.
All I want to do is get my pictures to show on that site. arrrrg!

Welcome to the forum.
It appears that you are most likely having a GUI display issue. Many/most of the Transition thumbnails are animated, so require some horsepower. Also, PrE relies heavily on the video card's/chip's driver.
I would update the video driver, to the very latest from the mfgr. Do not trust Windows, or any utilities to tell you if you have the latest. Check the mfgr's. Web site. Note: if you have a Dell, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, or another major computer mfgr's machine, check out their Web site first, as many such mfgrs. will tweak the video drivers for their machines.

How can I get Aperture to dump the photo info on RAW images as a text file?

When I am uploading files to something like dpReview I often want to provide information on the various aspects of the photo. Most of what I want to be show appears in the METADATA tab under photo info. Is there any way to dump this data for each image as a text file either during the export of the RAW to JPEG or otherwise?

When you export a master you can create an accompanying IPICT4XMP Sidecar File, that contains the IPICT data. It is not plain text file, but you can open it wit a text editor (Xcode, if you have it) and copy the metadata from there.
To create the the sidecar file set the Metadata selector to "createIPICT4XMP Sidecar File"

InDesign is not a web authoring tool. If you’re expecting text to simply overlay a graphic in export HTML from InDesign you’re going to be highly disappointed.
I’ll make the assumption you know nothing about web authoring tools and HTML/CSS. I suggest you look into Muse.

Connect to the computer the last backup is on, right click on its name in iTunes, and choose "Restore from backup". If the latest backup is in iCloud make sure you have a WiFi connection, then go to Settings/General/Reset and tap Erase all content and settings. After erasing you will be prompted to restore the iCloud backup.

Photo stream only keeps your photos for 30 days. After that, they are removed from your photo stream but not from any device that has already received them. Chances are, the 44 photos are from the last 30 days; the others are not there because they are no longer in your photo stream.
If the photos were in your camera roll when you last backed up, restoring to the backup should recover them. However, you will have to restore to the entire backup to do so. If they weren't backed up or imported to your computer, there is no way to recover them now.
