How Can I get a Page on my Aldus Pagemaker 3.0

I want to install Aldus Pagemaker 3.0 on my Apple Powerbook 1400, so I can use some files that I created in the 1990's on Aldus Pagemaker 3.0.
I have Pagemaker 4.2 on another computer, but it distorts the diagrams from the 3.0 files.
So I purchased Pagemaker 3.0 on eBay. I received 5 disks: Install Disk, Program Disk, Utilities & APDS, Templates, & Getting Started.
When I installed Aldus Pagemaker 3.0 on my Powerbook 1400 it tells me the installation was successful.
But when I click on the Pagemaker icon a window opens with the logo for "Aldus Pagemaker, Version 3.0."
At the top of the screen it shows the dropdowns.
When I click on "open new" it takes me to page setup.
I cannot get a page to appear so I can type on it.
How can I open a page?

The chances of you finding anyone that can help you with something that’s about 20 years old are not very good.
I certainly can’t help, but I just wanted you to be aware that PM is totally dead and hasn’t been touched by Adobe for about 10 years. Most users have move to InDesign.

One suggestion worked from the Firefox prints incorrectly link mentioned above by mha007. I'm thrilled since this has been annoying me for weeks. Thanks mha007!
Reset all Firefox printer settings
# Open your profile folder:

How can I get a Pages document embedded into an email? (so that the recipient sees it immediately and does NOT have to open a PDF). Although I know a PDF is universal and would allow anyone (mac or not) to open, read and see my business newsletter, I want it to be instantaneous for viewing. So, which leads me to a question I've kicked around for a year now on this discussion board. How do I turn a Pages doc into html for email purposes? If there isn't a way with Pages, How about with Word (the newest version) for Mac? Someone has to know this art, I receive emails like this all the time, probably from Apple! ha ha .

In Mail.app, single page PDF are directly readable so you may try to
print your page #1 in a PDF
then
print your page #2 in a PDF
and so on.

What exactly do you mean? Do you just mean you want to be sure it shows as an inline attachment? You can't really control that, if so, since it depends on the recipient's mail program/server/personal settings. This is true for real HTML mail, too.
There is nothing to guarantee that if you could easily convert a pages document to HTML, the recipient would not receive it as just an attachment. In any case, I suppose you could copy/paste into a freeway file, publish that to the desktop and attach it, but really, PDF is a much, much better choice.

I don't think you can. If you need that effect, you should use ePub (that can be authored via Pages) not iBA.
I hope Apple give us the option in the future though.

Exporting using 'interactive pdf' - how can i get single pages to display?....

Which application are you talking about? I'm guessing it's InDesign, but this is the forum for Adobe Acrobat. InDesign's export system doesn't use Acrobat at all, and it will *always* export spreads when you choose Interactive PDF, as that workflow was designed for use with 1-up layouts intended for screen display.
There are some workarounds involving re-saving your file without facing pages, but until we get the dialog updated there's no hassle-free solution.

I have a button which, each time it is pressed increments a
number. The number is shown in a text box. This all works fine, on
my web page. However if I close the web page and then reopen it,
the count number goes back to zero. How can I keep the number it
was (eg 10) and keep incrementing it ?
I have the button on Frame 1 and the text box on Frame 2.

You will need to use Shared Object to store the info on user
drive.
It is Flash's native form of cookies and works locally (from
exe projector)
as well as in browser.

How can I get the page where a page item is localized?

Hi I move some page items to the next spread using kMoveToSpreadCmdBoss. This works fine. But when I want to get the page uid where the page item is localized now (I use Utils<ILayoutUtils>()->GetOwnerPageUID to do that) I get the uid of the spread and not the uid of the page where the page item is localized. - What is wrong? - What can I do to get the page uid? Hans, I recently had to do the same, so I'll show you what I have done. I start by getting the spline item UIDRef and the value that Utils<ILayoutUtils>()->GetOwnerPageUID gives you. Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).

How can I get the page status light to come on?

The page status indicator light ha been non-functional ever since I downloaded newer versions... as a result of this problem I have seldom been using Mozilla firefox because I have no confidence in secure searching! If need be, I will delete Mozilla Firefox altogether!

Once you have obtained an external drive and connected it you will 'clone' your internal drive to it.
Download Carbon Copy Cloner (it is not free but there is a fully functional trial version which is). Use it to clone your internal drive to your external drive. When that is done you will reboot from the clone and use Disk Utility to erase the internal drive (choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) as the format (this is normally preset, but check). Make sure to give the external drive a 'distinctive' name, don't want to get drives mixed up in this process.
Once that is done you will use Carbon Copy Cloner (from the clone) to restore the external to the internal.
