How can I get a refund at the App Store when it isn't offered ?

Perhaps the Apple attack dogs will like this post better.
How do I get a refund for a costly app that, after requesting a refund, appears to not offer one? How does one know if an app meets one's needs unless you try it first?
This seems so obvious, and yet, I am shocked that Apple does not offer a trial or refund opportunity if even for 24-48 hours.
Is there another way to get a refund that I'm not aware of?

I repeat, the Apple policy is that all sales are final and after an app has been bought and downloaded, there are no refunds. Period.
The ONLY exception to the No Refund policy is if something freaky happens and you buy an app and between your purchase and attempt to download the app it is removed from the iTunes/MAS and is no longer available.

If you have found a developer whose product you have purchased through the iTunes/MAS who will personally give you a refund, more power to you. That is beyond the scope of Apple's policy and between you and the developer only.
It's time to stop beating a dead horse and move along.

Surely apple must have some responsibility to ensure that apps are correctly represented in their store and, by taking a commission on the transaction, should take some ownership of the contract of sale?

    Regardless of the success of a refund,  to see the apps get pulled and the developer banned would at least demonstrate that apple care about their consumers and are not supporting the app store as a platform for conmen.

    I bought GarageBand from the app store and have tried loading it on my two mac computers one at home one at work. The home one will not download it at all - it keeps getting so far and then (helpfully) saying 'an error has occurred'.     You posted in the Mac computer OS X Tiger 10.4 forum. You don't provide enough info. Was this an iPad app, iPhone app, an iPod app purchased from the iTunes store? Or an app purchased from another source?
    The remedy - don't give your kids the password and answer to security questions.

    You need to let go of everything you ever knew about using editing software and look at few tutorials. After years of using Final Cut Express, I looked at FCPX and didn't understand it at all, but a few months later I finally decided to give it a second try knowing that it is an entirely different animal, and that I would have to start from scratch. I bought it, read a few tutorials, explored the menus, panes, functions, read this forum extensively, then tackled my first project. It took some diligence and patience, but I got it and I will never look back. My experience is that FCPX is far better than the previous Final Cut.

    Disable anti virus softwrare if installed
    Check your settings in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options
    Make sure Gatekeeper is enabled
    Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
    Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

    Then try downloading Quicken >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If you are referring to The Songs Of Innocence album (£7.99) then that was given free to everyone three months ago, and was free until 13th October - you are sure that you've been charged, it's not a temporary store holding charge ?
