How can I get Activity Monitor to work?
I've searched the discussions to no avail, so I have this question: how can I get Activity Monitor to work? It launches and its window opens but then the spinning beachball appears. I've checked the Console and it shows that the Activity Monitor is attempting to fully launch but then it "exits" and then it tries to fully start up again, goes into an infinite loop or something. Issued a "force quit" succesfully. I've deleted the Activity Monitor's .plist, no joy. What to do? Thanks!
I'm running 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro (late 2011)
I wish I could be more positive but I have no experience of MacBook Pros and whether their demands on the system differ from my simple iMac. If you have the time to scour through 'More like this' ( to the right of your initial post) and the links within it, you may find leads.

How can i get the SSO to work successfully? I followed the note for configuring infoview with ad sso using kerveros & .net.
Adding the AD group into the win ad authentication configuration page creates the user group but the members of the group aren't being pulled in when I go to the group and select / query the users tabBart,
By default the setting for update options on the Windows AD tab of authentication does not actually create the aliases until the user attempts to login the first time. We set it this way to prevent a huge group of alias's being created when the administrator sets up Windows AD and also so that only user aliases for users actually using the system get created. You can change this behaviour though if you like. Simply change the radio button option to 'New Aliases will be added and new users will be created' this will create the accounts for you when you hit the update button. If you have a large group your adding I would wait until and afterhours time when you have less activity as this will impact CMS performance while it creates all the accounts. -

Turn it on, go through the activation steps on screen, and you're up and running.

I have an Retina display MacBook Pro with HMDI out port. I also have an HDMI to Component cable with Audio Plugs. How can I get HDMI out to work with this cable when plugged into the MacBook Pro and connected to the TVs Component and Audio in ports.
Will not work. To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported. The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.

My "Hanging with Friends" app keeps crashing whenever I try to open it. I have deleted and re-downloaded the app, restarted my iPhone, and even restored my iPhone all together, and nothing is working. How can I get this app to work again?
Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

As AT&T has not officially unlocked your phone it must have been hacked to use another carrier. So when you updated it has relocked itself to AT&T. There is no official unlock so this will happen anytime you update.

I am a new ipod touch user; have gone through all the dowload/install stuff, plugged the device into my computer but ipod screen still shows plug in to tunes. I am totally computer useless - how can I get my ipod to work, please? Charles Jones.
You did install the latest iTunes (10.5) right? If the problem was that iTunes does not see the iPod try:

Thanks, just so I know we are talking about the same items please let me know - When you say "run Prokit" do you mean downloaded? Which I did. I dont have Prokit 4.0.1 if you are referring to that, do I need this first? Please explain what application name I am looking for if other than Prokit which is sitting in my "download folder" do I need to manually put it into the apps folder? How can I get my speaker to work again? I've tried turning my phone off and on, hard reset, removing SIM, cleaning out dust, using the hair dryer, network reset, cleaning headphone port, made sure the phone was not on vibrate,and made sure "Change with buttons" was on. There was no liquid/moisture damage. I was watching a video on youtube and all of a sudden my speaker went out. If I tap on the speaker it goes in and out but does not stay on/loud.
Do you get sound in any apps e.g. in Music and Videos but not notifications or sound in other apps ? If you do get sound in Music and Videos then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. If you don't get sound in any apps then have you could try a soft-reset to see if you get sound after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

When I connect my ipod classic into my new computer it seems that itunes does not recognize it. How can I get my ipod to work with itunes? I'm afraid to disconnect my ipod because the display is saying Do Not Disconnect.
1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Updated to IOS 5.0.1 and now if I tap on a game icon instead of opening the game a grayish color comes over it and nothing happens. How can I get my games to work again?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.
Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod
Update successful and ipod taken out of recovery mode
