How can I get around iPhoto's inherent organization???

OK, I admit, I am extremely anal about how my photos are organized. I like them in a standard folder hierarchy (year/event/photos), but iPhoto doesn't allow me to do that. I don't want to have rolls and tags.
I have been using Canon ImageBrowser for years, and I love that it lets me see the hierarchy window, and organize, view & edit photos within the organizational framework I set up. But it does not work anymore in OSX 10.4
Does anyone know how to make iPhoto do that, or assuming I can't, does anyone know of a program that would allow me to do everything that ImageBrowser did but works in OSX 10.4?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you want a hierarchical system you can do it with the Folder system in the Source pane. You can create folders in that window and put folders inside folder. The you'll have to create albums of your rolls and put them in the appropriate folder or sub folder as shown here. That's the closest you can get to the hierarchical system you want. If you import your current folder system, each folder containing photos will import as a roll with the same title as the folder. You'll then have to create an album of that roll and put in a year folder that you've created in the Source window.
Or, use iView MediaPro which will catalog your image files and maintain the folder system that you've created as seen here (Finder) and here (iView).
Then you can use iPhoto in it's alias mode on your source files to make books, calendars, cards, etc. and iView as the primary management tool.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...

what OS X and RAM upgrades it could use.
If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,
when you more accurately describe the 'Book,

When you find the serial number, there is a web

That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.

You don't. If you use a 3rd party to "fix it" or attempt to do it yourself, Apple will reject the return and charge you the full price of the phone as if you had not returned it at all.

Check the eBay listing. Did it state the device was Activation Locked? If not, then make a claim as Meg stated and get a refund. You will not be able to activate the phone and no one can help you contact the owner, unless that is the person that sold the device. If they cannot remove the phone from their account because it is not theirs, then refund is your route. Even Apple cannot assist with locating the previous owner.

Try forcing iPhoto to load the Library on the External Hard drive by launching it while holding down the Option key. Choose the Library on the External HD, and quit iPhoto, see if iMovie can see the Library with the iPhoto Videos contained inside.

The censorship in regards to certain apps not being available in your country is by your country, not by Apple.
Due to various laws and licensing in each country, in order to have an iTunes store account in a particular country you must have a credit card with a billing address in that country. If this were up to Apple, there would be no such requirement and there would be only one iTunes store for the entire world, but various laws, regulations, and licensing issues in each country, this is required by Apple.

If you see a dialog telling you the app is not avaiable, then it's not available.
And keep in mind, your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."
