How can I get Firefox 8 to open new tabs at the end?

Hi,
I know there's a way to make Firefox open new tabs at the end instead of this really annoying forced 'open new tabs next to open tab behaviour'. Can anyone help me find it?
Thanks!
Evan

You can set the pref <b>browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

For searches from the Search Bar, when you use the Enter key.
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Pref = '''browser.search.openintab''' = double-click to toggle to '''true'''

Our internal system creates PDF files on the fly using the command makepdf.phtml. How can I get this to work with firefox 4 on the mac

    A couple of possible causes.
The first is the file that stores details of browsing history and bookmarks is corrupt. For details on how to fix that see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite
Another possible cause is an add-on interfering with the location bar. To test this, use the procedure in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • Open in new tab not working properly. How can I get it to stop opening new windows?

Firefox recently updated and my + open new tab button was gone. I found and downloaded the extension to put it back on, which is now gone but never worked. I have checked options>tabs and it is supposed to be opening new tabs. I can click file open new tab and it still opens everything in a new window. I've loved firefox for several years but if this isn't fixable quickly I'm gone. Can anyone help?

You definitely should not need an extension to get a new tab button!
Do you have any tab related extensions now, such as Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities?
Try resetting your toolbar layout by renaming the file that stores customizations. Firefox should returns to the default settings for toolbars and windows. Here's how:
    (1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    (2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
    (3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something else, like localstore-bad.rdf or localstore.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
    (4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.
    Any luck?
With respect to links launching in new windows instead of tabs, the checkbox in the Options dialog should work but there is an exception for scripted windows that have certain parameters set (e.g., dialog style with no toolbars, or a specific size). Launching a link out of a dialog, which is not allowed to have extra tabs in the window, also will launch either a new window or be added to an existing window. Any chance the problem is related to those situations?

  • How can i get firefox not to open up when i click on a WMV?

i downloaded windows media player 11 and now when trying to watch a WMV saved in my documents instead of my media player opening up i go into firefox and multiple tabs open up very fast instead of my media player opening? i can watch other types of videos like MPEG and firefox doesn't open! but when tying to watch a WMV i just get firefox?

What I'd like to be able to do is:
Use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" ("Don't load tabs until selected" checked). If I close and open Firefox all my tabs are there. Once in a wile I know that I had, lets say, 20 tabs open when Firefox was closed BUT I want to open it without all those tabs... just home page or blank page. I was wandering if there a key I could press during start up to prevent Firefox from opening all saved tabs (like "shift" for Safe mode).

  • How can I get Firefox to directly open a file (like a torrent) without saving it at all

It seems that up until about 3 months ago - I could get firefox to download a file and open it directly without saving it to any particular place. This is particulary useful for downloading say a torrent or, for that matter, any other file I wish to use within another program but do not need to save the file.
Now I have to download the file, chose where it will be saved, open the folder click on the file, and then delete the now un-needed file. A huge hassle.
I am sure I could do this until a few months ago. For some reason I cannot now.
    Please help

Make sure that the file has the .html file extension.
    That should be sufficient.
Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • How can I get java popups to open in tabs

I teach online, and our courseroom software has the unfortunate design of opening everything - student discussion posts, links to online articles, documents and forms, links to our university website or to external sites - in pop-ups via Javascript. This is a superbly annoying "feature" and contributes greatly to repetitive strain as I am constantly having to drag and re-size windows so I can read them. Also, the Java is coded such that I cannot pop open multiple items and let them load - each subsequent one loads over the top of the one previously opened. This reduces my working speed enormously, since parts of our servers get taxed and load quite slowly at times.
For some time now I've been trying to work around this as best I can by allowing a pop-up to load, then copying its direct URL, closing the pop-up, opening a new tab, and pasting the URL in. At least this way I can get several items loaded that I can switch among. But again it creates tremendous repetitive strain.
I thought I had worked around the problem by going into about:config and setting browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction to 0 rather than to 2. This did cause a pop-up link to load in a tab. However, it didn't solve the problem of subsequent clicks causing the new URLs to load over the top of the previous one in said tab. Instead of each click spawning a new tab, they all just load in the same tab one after the other, defeating the purpose as surely as the pop-ups did (though at least without having to re-size the window.)
What is the solution for this? One quarter of teaching online has destroyed my hands and wrists, after years of pain-free computer use. I'm doing PT and looking into various different equipment but cutting down on the pop-ups would help both my pain and my workflow tremendously. (Firefox can't help me with the terrible Java coding in the main courseroom, that refuses to respect my re-sizing of windows and sidebars and always scrolls you back to the top of a page after popping open an item linked within that page, but I'll take what help I can get.)

As of five minutes ago, ''every single'' link I click opens in a new tab. This includes clicking the refresh button.

  • How do I open new tabs at the end of the tab bar?

Recently switched over from Internet Explorer. One of things I liked about IE was if I adjusted some of the tabbed browsing settings, whenever I opened a link in a new tab, it opened it at the very end of the tab bar. No tab grouping, no opening next to the current tab. Seems like a pretty simple thing, but I just can't figure out how to set that up in Firefox.
Any suggestions on how to take care of that? Thanks!

  • My firefox won't open new tabs with the button or when I press CTRL+t, what is the problem?

I can't open any new tabs what so ever. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, and there was no change.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

  • How can I get Firefox to "pinch open and close"

The zoom feature where you spread or pinch together two features on the Mac trackpad used to work on the last version of Ff, and I used it all the time to zoom in when text was too small. It's not working with this new version and I'm really disappointed. Anyone know if there's a way to change settings or something so it will work?

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in cmd_fullZoomReduce
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift cmd_fullZoomReset

  • Can't get Firefox to NOT open PDF files in the browser

I would like Firefox to always ask whether I want to open or save a PDF document. Instead, it always displays the file in the browser and pops up a toolbar. In Tools/Options/Applications pdf files are not listed. However "PDF Xchange Viewer Document" (my default PDF viewer) is listed and the action is set to "Always ask"; yet it never asks. Why?

Such actions are usually linked to a specific MIME type and if Firefox doesn't obey and ask what to do then you may have created this action for the wrong MIME type.

  • How can I get Flex to create a new email using the client's default that pre-fills a field?

Assume that I have a String with some emails in it. When a user clicks on "Send Email to these People" I want their default email client (like Outlook or Thunderbird) to open up a window with new email ready to be composed. All I want is for the String's data to appear in the BCC (or Send To:) field of the email. Is there a mailing function (like the equivalent of PHP's mail()) that I can use for this? Thanks for any insight and help!

Yeah, sorry about that. I remembered after I had already submitted this thread. I've just been so stressed out, little things like this didn't cross my mind. You can delete the other one if you are the admin here.
