How can i get firefox from defaulting back to a version i dont want
firefox 25 freezes without moving the mouse continually. i keep downloading version 24. every time i turn off my computer, it reverts back to version 25 - even though i am not allowing it to update without my permission. can you either fix version 25 or tell me how to stop this from updating on its own
hey, just to keep you updated - there is now a fix available for firefox 25, which should address the particular problem of pages not loading unless the mouse is moved.
if you have downgraded to firefox 24 to work around the issue, please go to ''firefox > options > advanced > update'' and turn automatic updates back on. then go to ''firefox > help > about firefox'' which should trigger the update to firefox 25.0.1.

Firefox 33.0 displays mojibake+English instead of Japanese+English. It shouldn't matter whether the web page is encoded in ShiftJIS, EUC, raw JIS (though that's rare), or UTF8; all of them should be easy to autodetect.
I can go to the View menu, Character Encoding, and select Japanese, but this should not be necessary. I shouldn't have to teach it to ordinary users.
View - Character Encoding - Auto-detect is off, but even if I set that to Japanese it doesn't help. Hypothetically even if it helped Japanese it wouldn't help Greek.
If I understand correctly there used to be an option View - Character Encoding - Universal, but that option was removed? WTF???????????????????????????????
I've read a few expert opinions that I should change the web server to ... I'm not sure what I should change it to, because looking at the page again it seems that it already says Unicode ... but anyway, I don't think one of Japan's largest transportation companies will let one of their smallest personal individual customers barge in and reprogram their web server.

What does the word "this" refer to? The fallback (manual auto-detect setting) worked for this page because this page only contains Japanese and English, and Japanese character sets include the Italian characters that are used in writing English. But, for the third time again, shouldn't FF automatically auto-detect it, and even for manual auto-detecting why was the Universal option deleted? -

It is always a useful precaution to make manual bookmarks backups

The above article also explains about the autobookmark backups that firefox generates, but be sure to make manual backups as you work, it is very easy to overwrite the wrong set of backups.
I am not entirely certain what firefox is doing in your case, perhaps the synced Netbook does not have the expected set of bookmarks on it.
Presumably sync may be uninstalled or disabled like any other add-on

However, I can't use Firefox 5.0, as I randomly checked 3 add-on's I had: "Firefox PDF", "Delicious Bookmarks" and "After the Deadline", and none of them worked with Firefox 5.0. I have created perl scripts on my local host (file type ".pl").
In MS Windows I have associated that type to a perl interpreter installed on my local host.
IE allows me to create links to them and to execute them (after asking for permission).
How can I get firefox to do the same? It doesn't seem to allow me to add application types, only to change those that are already defined. Once you have the drive connected to your Mac, click System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Click Time Machine
Click Options
Be default, the hard drive will be Excluded from backups. Click the drive to highlight it, then click the "-" (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the drive from Excluded items.
The drive will be backed up on the next Time Machine pass
Everything above assumes that the hard drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as Time Machine will only backup drives in that format. -

Yes. But, I see from the THOUSANDS of responses here concerning Firefox memory issues that other people have had no more success than I have at trying to STOP Firefox's memory gluttony. The fact that Firefox runs fine (like the good old days) for a while after re-booting and registry cleaning shows that something is going on beyond the trivial/ineffective suggestions offered in the referenced links.
Having to re-boot several times a day to get Firefox out of the molasses is such a pain, that it's no wonder people are going back to IE, or like me, reluctantly relying more and more on Google Chrome. -

Yes, that's correct, it won't affect your account or your devices in any way.
Use the delete account button in the iCloud settings.
Then enter her iCloud details in the new screen that appears and log in. She should then be returned to the screen above but with her Apple ID at the top, enable the services she wishes to use and then tap the storage & backup option and ensure that iCloud backup is turned on.

It's a pain, but until they step up, it's all you got.
