How can I get FireFox to stop asking me if I want to save a password?

I DO NOT want ANY internet entity saving my webpage passwords. Mozilla/FireFox insists on asking me if I want to save my password to a webpage. How do I get it to STOP asking me if I want to save a password?

Yes! Thank you! Simple and easy to follow instructions. AND it worked. Cannot ask for more than that!
Thanks again!

  • Updated Firefox is not compatible with my low vision software - Zoomtext. How can I get Firefox to stop asking me to upgrade!!

Currently using version 3.6.27 as the updated versions are not compatible with my low vision software called Zoomtext. I constantly get Firefox asking me to upgrade. How can I get it to stop asking me to upgrade. (I have tried each upgrade and they are all incompatible with Zoomtext.

Go to '''Options''' window > '''Advanced''' panel > '''Update''' tab > '''Firefox updates '''> click '''Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)''', click '''OK''' to save it, exit firefox and restart it.
see for more info: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel#w_update-tab Options window - Advanced panel - Update tab]
BUT you see the warning : Warning: If you select this option, you will not receive '''critical security updates that may keep you safe online''' unless you frequently do a '''manual check for updates'''.
    thank you

  • How can I get Firefox to stop looking for uninstalled fonts?

Running Firefox 3.6.16 on MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.6.7: Every time I quit and restart Firefox, it searches my iDisk and finds uninstalled fonts (some of which are actually installed--these are original font files I purchased stored there). What looks like an OS box pops up saying Firefox wants permission to use these uninstalled fonts (and even though I click don't ask again for Firefox, these boxes pop up on every restart). This does not happen on my desktop Mac. Short of deleting the files, how can I stop Firefox from searching for uninstalled fonts? Thanks,

    You can try this:
Move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts:
    # Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
    # Open Font Book > Preferences
    # Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
    # Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to Computer
    # Select all User fonts.
    # Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
    # Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

  • Firefox keeps wanting me to update & License agreement is not available. How can I get Firefox to stop this behavior???

Firefox strongly suggests update but when I get to the license agreement it says it's not available...go to home page.. Can't find it there..can you either provide license agreement or stop asking me to update!? Thanks

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

  • Can't get Firefox to stop asking for a profile on startup?

    Hello,
I am currently running Firefox version 3.5.4 on a server that works somewhat like a kiosk. I downloaded the "Full Screen 3.4" Add-On which does what it is supposed to do just fine. I also created a symbolic link to /usr/lib/firefox/firefox executeable in /etc/init.d so when the computer boots up Firefox will startup automatically. But the problem is that after boot-up and firefox opens, it asks me to select a profile, even though I selected "Don't ask at Startup".
Why can't I get it to open without needing me to tell it a profile?
    Thanks,
    Matt

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

  • How can I get firefox to stop moving the typing cursor to my homepages' search engine automatically?

What usually happens is when I open firefox I'll usually start typing in the url bar or in the browser search engine to the right of url bar. The problem is that while I'm in the middle of typing, firefox will move my cursor to the homepage's search engine. This gets annoying after awhile because I'll have to stop and reclick where I was typing at (sometimes it'll even move it back!). Is there a way to disable this so that firefox won't try to relocate my typing cursor every time a new page loads?

You can set to open a blank page on opening Firefox and click the Home button if you want to see the Home page. You can also click ESC to stop loading the page before typing in the location bar.
Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show a blank page"

  • How can I get Firefox to stop trying to update to newer version

I don't want a newer version of Firefox and I'm tired of it always trying to update automatically to a newer version. When this happens, I can't get to the website I want. This has to stop, or I'm going back to Windows Explorer.

You can find the update settings here:
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Update: "Automatically check for updates":
If files already have been downloaded then you need to remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)

  • How do I get firefox to stop asking me to allow personas and just let it allow them all?

I'm installing many personas but i'm tired of it asking me to allow the site all the time. Is there a way to get that to stop?

Make sure that the getpersonas.com site is listed as an install exception:
Tools > Options > Security : "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons": Exceptions
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Site Preferences'.

  • How can I get iTunes to stop asking me for my password?

Lately I'm asked to enter my password two or three times every time I open iTunes, and it's getting old. I am an adult and the sole user of this computer so I don't need big brother Apple looking out for me. Just give me something to sign so Apple's lawyers can go screw something else up and leave me alone to enjoy my music. Does anyone have an actual demonstrated working solution, rather than just some pet theory? (I say it this way, because I have tried several suggestions by other posters.. "just log out of iTunes, close the program and then open it and log back in..." and blah, blah blah, and nothing has even made a difference)

I have the exact same problem.  It asks me 3 times before it accepts the bloody password.  It asks me every time I open the program.  It asks me if the program is open and I venture over to their lousy radio feature.  Just leave me logged in for crying out loud.  Pardon my vent.

  • Once cleaned, how can i get Firefox to stop warning potentially malicious content on my site?

My site was hacked, now it's clean. I have requested removal from list of phishing sites from Google. Google has done so and taken off warning page in Chrome browser. Stopbadware.org lists status of site with white button, and there's no link to “Request an independent review of data providers’ findings.”
I have called Mozilla, left message, volunteer returned my phone call and informed me the sites were now listed as safe and the warning removed, BUT the warning for potentially malicious content still appears on my site in Firefox.
What more can I do??? This is really frustrating, and is really hurting my business!!!

Nevermind. I upgraded to Firefox 4 and then the warnings were gone.
    Joy, joy, joy!

  • How can I get Firefox to stop causing "The connection was interrupted"?

I've recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.22 on my MacOSX 10.5.8 system. I connect to the internet via GoogleWifi. That connection now consistently fails immediately after Firefox launches when there is no Cache (I clear it every time I Quit from Firefox). Safari can make the connection, but Firefox consistently reports: "Problem loading page." "The connection was interrupted." Attempting to "Try Again" does no good, it still fails.

This is not helpful because 7.0.1 does not meet my System Requirements. There is no Mac OS X 10.4 version, and I always install the same version on all my systems. I've also read several reports of "problems" with 7.0.1, and wouldn't trust it on my 10.5 (Leopard) system.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop saving the open tabs when it closes and reinstating them the next time it opens?

Even tho' I've set options for Firefox to delete history when it closes, it still remembers my open tabs and tries to reinstate them the next time it starts. This causes two problems: 1) it takes longer for Firefox to close, such that if I start it again a few sec later it is still running and won't restart; 2) it sometimes reopens websites I am no longer want when it next starts. The latter also makes the last sites I visited visible to the next user, which I (and I suspect most other users) want to avoid. I would like to turn this feature off since it is far more of a problem than a benefit!

    @cor-el
    I have the same problem.
My settings are already configured to "Show a blank page". It does show a blank page normally, but when FF crashes, it attempts to reload all the tabs from the previous session when it restarts. My version is: Firefox/3.6.13, and I'm running XP sp3 if that matters.

  • How can I get firefox to ask me to save passwords for websites and to turn back on my auto complete for webpages?

Ever since the last update of firefox my autocomplete no longer functions and firefox no longer asks me if I want to save the password for sites I visit.

"Remember passwords for sites" is shaded in the Private Browsing mode and when "Always use Private Browsing mode" is enabled.

  • Im on like facebook and when i go to navigate around on the site it is asking me everytime are sure you want to navigate away from this...how do i get that to stop asking me and just go where i click

if im on any site and i try to go to different places on that site a box pops up asking me if im sure that i want to navigate away from that site and i have to click yes before it will go to want ever i clicked on on that site. how can i get that to stop asking me every time?

This can be caused by Facebook gadgets. You can try removing Facebook gadgets until you find the culprit. I have seen reports of various gadgets causing this such as Ginga, Facebook for iGoogle, Deal of the Day and Smiley

  • I always have trouble with my mailbox. It is always asking for my passwords but everything has been verified. How can I get it to stop doing it and start working????

I always have trouble with my mailbox. It is always asking for my passwords but everything has been verified. How can I get it to stop doing it and start working????

There is only one thing that happens -- the Server does not respond.
Your mac concludes that you must have entered the wrong password. That may happen once, but then other issues become more likely, and it keeps asking for a new password.
Sometimes the Server is down for maintenance. Sometimes something is configured wrong. Some services do this on purpose to get you to use WebMail (pick up your Mail with your Browser) so they can show you some ads.
