How can I get Garage Band if I didn't get it with (Retail Version) disk

I just did a clean install of Leopard 10.5.6 and wiped the disk clean. Now I realize I don't have Garage Band. I have a OS 10.4 Tiger disk but when I try and see if the application is on there, I don't see it. Also, It tells me that I can't download to the drive because of the NEW OS installed. Does anyone know how I can get GB onto my computer without having to start all over again ?
Appreciate any replies

Look inside the Bundled Software folder of your system disc. If GB is not there, use Pacifist to custom install.

  • How can I turn garage band files into mp3s?

On my older Macbook i have always been able to easily turn my .band files into mp3s under the Advanced heading in itunes, but with my Macbook Pro, that is not an option. The option has become "Create AAC version". How can I turn my .band files into mp3s so that I can load them onto my web page and my students can pick them up as mp3s and put them on their devices?

The option has become "Create AAC version".
Your iTunes importing preferences are currently set to AAC. If you change your Importing preferences to mp3, the option should then become "Create mp3 version". See the following document for some more details:

  • How can I use Garage Band for ringtones? I dont get it

I fairly new to the apple world. I want to use a song from a CD in my iTunes library in Garage Band then crop it and everything to make a ringtone for my iPhone. Is this possible?

On you MacBook go to Garageband and go to the bottom right to find you iTunes music. Find a song and drag it to the editing section find the part you want to have as a ringtone (it must be 40 seconds or under). Go to Share at the menu at the top of the screen, click share "Ringtone" with iTunes and it should ask you to adjust. Their will be a little green line in the window near the top adjust the green slider to be as long or a bit longer than the ringtone and click again share then send ringtone to iTunes. Then when you plug in your iPhone go to the Ringtones tab and specify wether you want to sync all or select ringtones to your iPhone.

  • I'm Just wondering how to make drum beats in garage band using the sounds it comes with? Also how can i use garage band like a drum machine which i can program an entire song part by part????

I'm new to using Garageband and loops with garage band. I just wanted to see if there was a way for me to use the drum sounds provided in garageband to create my own original drum tracks and work with it like a drum machine that i can program an entire song into... any info or tutorials would be a great help.. Thanks!!!

Ah ok, I have a better idea of what you want to do now.
Unfortunately there isn't anything inside GB that can come anywhere close to Acoustica Beatcraft, but there are two tools inside Garageband that can help you do something similar.
First are the built-in keyboards, which will enable you to trigger drum samples with your computer keyboard or mouse.  Go to Window -> Keyboard or Window -> Musical Typing.  Click with your mouse on the Keyboard or press keys on your computer keyboard with Musical Typing, and you will trigger different drum samples for whatever kit you've chosen for that software track.
Next is the Track Editor: in Piano Roll mode, you can create and see midi notes somewhat similar to the view in this screenshot from AB.  On the left side of the Editor, you will see a sideways piano keyboard.  When you assign a drum kit to a software track, each of the piano keys corresponds to a different instrument: hi hat, snare, bass drum, etc---you'll have to play them using the on-screen keyboard or musical typing to see what they correspond to.   In order to add a MIDI note you hold the CMD button and click with the mouse.
So, if you wanted to add a closed hi-hat hit, you would CMD-click on the Track Editor row corresponding to the closed hi-hat piano key, and then you can drag the MIDI note left & right to change the beat it plays on, or resize the note, which will change its duration.
Or, as you've already observed, you can use Musical Typing to play out a pattern on your computer keyboard while recording, and you will see the midi notes appear in real time in the Track Editor.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions.

  • How Can I sync Garage Band via Camera via I movie?

My goal is to get the sound out of the recording software rather than out of the crappy camera mics
How can I do this WITHOUT having to overdub the sound over a video take?

thanks, I don't even have a camera yet, as I am trying to find out how I can avoid using the camera mic in favor of getting higher quality audio than that
What do you plug into the audio in, just an external mic?
How do I get the camera hooked up with pro audio equipment/software such as audio interface, recording software, etc , , ,

  • How can I uninstall Garage Band extras?

I installed the additional stuff that comes in the Installation DVD's but I don't think I need it. How can I get rid of all those extra files? Where are they located? Can I just delete them?

The installation DVD's has some more loops and instruments I think that it can install that take like a 1 extra Gb. As all the additional stuff didn't really help much I want to recover that space. I wanted to know if that could be uninstalled in a safe way and leave GB as it was before(normal installation).

  • How can I get garage band back?

I accidentally deleted garage band and i didn't set up time machine, is there any way to get it back?

    HI,
Locate your install disks. If Garage Band came pre-installed on your Mac then you can reinstall it from your install disk.
To reinstall applications that came with your Mac:
Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the package that installs bundled software or additional software. A package has an icon that looks like an opened box.
Follow the onscreen instructions. If you see a pane with a Customize button, click Customize and select the application you want to install. If you see a pane that lets you choose what to install, click the disclosure triangle beside Applications and select the application you want to install.

can not get Garage Band on my iphone 5c for free

    Hello anime26,
Check out the article below to walk you through getting GarageBand for free. One thing to remember is that in order to get it, you would need to have purchased your iPhone after September 1st.

  • How do you install Garage Band on iOS6

I have an iPod Touch 4g with ios6. I wanted garage band but I need iOS7 for it. I can't sync my iPod to iOS7. How do you install garage band on iOS6. I haven't installed garage band ever and i really want it or I will have to get an iPhone for christmas and upgrade to iOS 7 on that.

If the app is not compatible with ios 6, then you cannot get it with ios 6.

  • I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1.  Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device?  My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.

I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1.  Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device?  My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.

    Hi,
If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. At this point gazelle.com is giving $70.00 for any ipad 1 in 'good' condition. And cashforyourmac will give you $25.00 over what gazelle.com or sellyourmac.com offers you. Shipping is free.
Then, with that money, go the the Apple online certified refurbished store. As an example, a new 64gb Air costs $699.00. A refurbed 4th gen 64gb costs $529.00 and a 3rd gen 64gb costs $499.00. Personally, I'd skip the 3rd gen. So if you buy a 4th gen 64gb at $529.00 minus what you can get from a sale to above, you can get an ipad 4 64gb for just over $430.00, a savings of savings of about $270.00. (A new 32gb Air is $599.00, a 4th gen 32gb is $449.00, and a 3rd gen 32gb is not on the site right now.) Google it and check if you can get better offers anywhere else. But getting one from the Apple refurb store gives you an essentially new ipad and using the above sites, you're not locked in with a particular site which will give you a gift card and restrict you to their store/site.
Each Apple refurbished ipad (any version) comes with a new front and back cover, a brand new battery, same return policy, and a full one year warranty with 90 days of phone support. Each comes in a white box like a new ipad with the wall charger and usb cable. The only difference is that it says in small print on the bottom of the box that it is Apple certified refurbished. Also, if you buy refurbs, be sure to check the store many times a day. They can come and go quickly, so when you see what you want, buy it right away. Shipping is free and pretty fast. (We bought two a year and a half ago and they have been great!)
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I disable rubber band scrolling?

How can I disable rubber band scrolling?

    hm...
I'm having an issue with a bouncing or "creeping" effect when I type in TextEdit; after having ugraded to Snow Leopard.
I'm now cross-posting a bit, I can't find my way around here; doing the best I can:
While typing in an rtfd new file, as I'm on the first line, the page starts creeping down until it's the very bottom line. When I get to the end of the line and it wraps, the page jumps up to about 5 or 6 lines and each few letters I type on the new line cause it to creep back down so it's the bottom line, until I get to the end of the next line, where I get a 5-6-line jump again, and then the creep again. This has to be one of the most annoying things ever, and makes me want to go get a different text editor. I use TextWrangler, but I've become used to TextEdit for quick things, and for a few specific things, but now I'm not loving it anymore.
    Help please?
    Mitch
