How can i get imovie to finalize faster

Does it really take 15 hours to finalize a 50min video ?

If the time to finish is decreasing, that is a good sign, and it may finish.
If you check the Activity Monitor, you can tell if there is a hang condition going on.
I am not sure what Vimeo allows.
One thing you might try, but a little risky...
When you finalize, it creates copies in all available sizes.
You might look and see if any sizes have already completed. If so, you could copy and paste that size to another folder (or to your desktop) and start uploading that to Vimeo, while the remaining sizes finish.
If you are lucky, it will have done the largest sizes first.
Take care not to do anything to the file it is currently creating. You should be able to tell because it should be sort of gray and should show a zero size until it is finished.
OK to find it, go to your Movies/iMovie Projects folder.
Hold down the Control key while clicking on the Project name. Select SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS from the popup menu. Look inside the Movies folder in the package. If there are any completed movies, they would be in there.

  • I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

I'm using a mid 2014 13" rmbp. I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

It's something to do with the main user account (not iTunes account) on my Mac because I logged in with another account and it downloaded fine, I installed it on the HDD and even though the date in App Store was 16th October 2014, it is the full installer of 10.10.2.
To try to resolve this problem, I have copied the installer app elsewhere and deleted it but App Store still will not allow me to download it with my main user account yet just allowed me to update iTunes.
I had a brainwave last night that it might have been related to me changing the default downloads folder to one not on my boot drive (to save disk space on my main boot drive) but having changed it back, tried again, rebooted and tried yet again, deleted my App Store preferences. nothing has worked.

  • How can I get iMovie 10 to see my iPhoto Library after I relocated it.

How can I get iMovie 10 to see my iPhoto Library after I relocated it. I moved my iPhoto Library to a secondary hard drive, because my main SSD wasn't large enough. I then upgraded to IMove 10.0.4 and also moved my iMovie Library to the secondary hard drive. When I highlight the iPhoto Library in iMovie there is nothing there. Any ideas on how to get iMove to find my relocated iPhoto Library?

I think I may have solved my own problem. I left cliked on the relocated iPhoto Library and went to "Open with >." I then went to "Other...." I then set the wind located in the bottom labled "Enable:" to "All Applications" and picked iMovie. It gave me a error, but the ultimate result was that iMove now was linked to my iPhoto Library.

  • How can I get iMovie to recognize the external camera?

iMAC running OSX 10.6.8 recognizes external HD Camera hardware, but iMovie fails to recognize the device.  I can copy files "manually" using Finder, but cannot import them directly into iMovie.  How can I get iMovie to recognize the camera?  I have already re-booted all devices and tried multiple USB ports.  In all cases the OS recognizes the camera, but iMovie does not.

OK This camcorder is a fine camcorder. I have an earlier model of a similar camcorder from Panasonic. However, this newer model has one problem. It is not compatible with iMovie if you shoot at the highest quality mode, (which is 60P or 50P - which might be called 28MBPS mode). If you shoot 30P or 30i (even 60i) it will import to iMovie. Also, iMovie can handle 1280x720P60 and P50.
It will definitely work on iMovie 11. It should probably work on iMovie 09. I doubt this camera will be recognized at all on iMovie 08, but it is worth a try. To see which iMovie you have, click iMovie/About and check the version. 9.04 would be iMovie 11. (9.08 is the current version, but it will not run on OSX 10.6.8). 8.06 would be iMovie 09. 7.1.4 would be iMovie 08.
OK So how to work around this limitation?
    1) If you have Final Cut Pro X ($300) or can justify buying it, it will import 60P and 50P from this camera. However, if this seems a little pricey to you, keep reading.
    2) If you set your camera to record in 1080P30 and shoot a short clip, then iMovie should see the camera. Then I would suggest using iMovie import screen to create a CAMERA ARCHIVE of your camera. This will copy to your Mac the entire contents of the video files on your camera. You will need them later. I am assuming you have some valuable footage on the camera that you would like to have.
    3) Going forward, the simplest thing is to shoot in 1920x1080P30 and use iMovie normally. The biggest advantage of P60 or P50 is when you need really high quality slow motion effects. In other words, after you edit your movie, everything is converted to P30 or P25 anyway.
    4) If you want to retrieve the 1080P50 or 1080P60 clips that you have shot, then there are a couple of apps you can buy to convert them to a form that iMovie can edit. Two such apps are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD. There are also various free apps, but I cannot vouch for them. Do a search on google and you may find some that work.

  • I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.

*If you bought the Mac from a 2nd hand shop and don't have access to the original owner, you may need to provide Apple a purchase receipt to offer proof of sale.

  • How can I get imovie for free on my iPad?

So at my school everybody can be able to get imovie for free but for me it doesn't. It keeps popping up to have to buy it and I was wondering how I can get it for free?

The iWork apps for a Mac and for iOS devices are different, they are different operating systems.
If your iPad was activated after 1st September 2013 (and you are using the same account that was used to activate the iPad) then you should be able to download the apps for free in its App Store app. If it was activate before that date (or you are not using the same account) then you will need to pay to download the apps.

  • How can I get iMovie to automatically save to my external hard drive?

I am trying to use my external hard drive for iMovie because my movies were cramping up my hard drive. I already moved them and that worked fine. The only problem is that I don't know how to get iMovie to automatically save to the hard drive now. I don't want to have to keep moving the files from my movies folder to the hard drive.

Do this on the import screen. Look toward the bottom.

  • Making brochure with lots of 'large' photos, how can I get InDesign to work faster?

I am trying to create a brochure using lots of photos some of which are quite large 12mb+ and In Design is being really sluggish.  Is there anything I can do to help InDesign work faster?
    Many thanks

You see in the link panel, if the file is embedded or you see the path were the image is saved.
On your OS, I think it is Win, you go to a file with the suffix you use, with the right mouse click select in the context menu, to open with other, don't select Photoshop directly, selct with an application you will select manually and choose an option which tells you always to open this type with that program (PSD, TIFF, JPG and PDP with Photoshop and AI and EPS with Illustrator, but don't use EPS anymore, and use the suffix PDP if you work with Photoshop PDFs to get Photoshop instead of Acrobat with PDF to open the apropriate program.)

  • How can i get imovie on my macbook pro for free?

i have a brand new macbook pro and i don't have ilife or iwork installed, does anyone know how i could get it without purchasing it?
    thanks

    Hello purple23
When you open the Mac App Store for the first time, it should ask you to except the purchase for the bundled applications. For iwork, you will need to make sure that you are running OS X Mavericks and as long as your Mac was purchased after October 22, you should be able to download those apps for free.
Alerts may occur when accepting bundled applications from the Mac App Store

  • How can I get tracks to play faster than normal speed in itunes?

I have lectures, audio books, and other recordings that I would like to play at faster than normal speed (like 1.5X or 2X normal speed).   I've set all of these recordings as audio books because I read that they have the option to play faster, but, I can't find how to actually make them play faster.  I also read that it's possible to open them in quicktime, but that is very much less than ideal and a waste of time.  Surely there is a way to do this in itunes, but I can't figure it out.
    Thanks for any help.

I will show you how I played my audio or mp3 files at any particular speed. This method will allow you to simply enter in your desired speed.(ex. 1.5 or 1.33)
In my case Im using an audio book [Lord of the flies] I download off youtube as a MP3 file using this program:
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaHuman-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter/3000-2140_4-7544580 3.html
First off,  you will need to make sure your audio file is open in QuickTime player rather then iTunes. First you need to locate the audio file. If your audio file is in itunes then right click the file and select "Show in Finder"
The file should open in a finder window, highlighted. Right click the file, go to "Open With.." And click Quicktime Player. (If quickTime Player is not an option, you need to go to "Other..." and select QuickTime Player from your Applications folder)
Now that your mp3 file is open in a QuickTime window you may proceed to step 1.
    1) Open Finder
    2) Click Applications
    3) Click Utilities
    4) Open AppleScript Editor
    5) In the program copy and paste the script below.
    6) Click "Compile"
    7) Now to test this script, click "Run" A window should pop up prompting you to enter your desired speed (default is 1.5)
    8) press "OK" and quick time should start playing your audio at the speed you entered in.
    9) If you would like to use this script again, go to File > Save... >Name your AppleScript and save it Anywhere (I saved mine in the Music Folder for easy access)
    tell application "iTunes"
    pause
set myTrack to location of current track
    # the player’s position within the currently playing track in seconds
    set mySeconds to player position
    end tell
    # show a Dialog
    set SpeedFactor to 1.5
display dialog "Enter speed factor:" default answer SpeedFactor
set SpeedFactor to text returned of the result
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    # pause all previously opened documents
    set open_docs to documents
    repeat with doc in open_docs
    pause doc
    end repeat
    # open the track just played in iTunes
    open myTrack
    # get the 'QuickTime' document, MyTrack should be equivalent but it isn't
    set MyMovie to first document
    # rewind by 10 seconds
    if mySeconds > 10 then
set mySeconds to mySeconds - 10
    end if
    # set current time
set current time of MyMovie to mySeconds
    # set Speed Factor and start playing
set rate of MyMovie to SpeedFactor
    end tell
