How can I get iPhoto to make edits possible?

I just received my new MacBook Pro and transferred all my data (including all my photos) from my old one. While I use Photoshop for more complex editing, I've never had a problem using the older versions of iPhoto for basic edits (e.g. rotating, cropping, basic color correction, etc.) Now, with iPhoto 11, NONE of those functions work. If I pull up a pic and open the edit screens, I see the buttons for these functions, but when I click on them nothing happens. This happens for every photo I pull up in any album. This is driving me nuts, nuts, nuts...please help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the fix below:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Then check to see if the editing tools are working.

how can I get all options under edit in iPhoto on my phone to appear it has revert in red on theleft side & done on the right side, the only choice it gives me is select multiple

The usual cause of that issue is a corrupted or missing font that Firefox replaces by another, in this case a bold, font.
As a test you can try to disable the default font and choose a few different fonts (Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Times New Roman) to see if you can identify the culprit.<br />
you will have to reinstall that corrupted font.

I found one other way to do it.  I just deleted them all out of my iTunes library. Now I can re-import them from Window's My Music file with the original artists' names intact.

  • How can I get iPhoto on my Mac to recognize my new iPhone 6?  (iTunes does recognize it!)

I got one of the new iPhone 6s (the smaller version) and it's been working great.  I was able to restore an old backup from my 4S and transferred everything over.  iTunes recognizes the new phone and I've had no problems bringing files within apps on the phone to the computer like before.  HOWEVER, iPhoto doesn't even recognize the phone so I can't import new photos off the phone.  How can I get iPhoto to recognize it?  I tried searching for the phone as a drive via iPhoto and that didn't work either.

So says my computer.  Honestly, I'm not tech-wavy in the least so I just take its word for things.

  • How can i get iphoto 9?

I am running OSX 10.5.8 and I have iphoto 7.1.5  I just spent many hours creating a calendar.  When I went to purchase it, I got an error message stating that apple doesn't support calendar purchases in iphoto 7 any longer, and I need to upgrade to iphoto 9 at the mac app store.  Since I am not running mavericks or yosemite I don't have the mac app store, so how can I get iphoto 9, and will it even work with 10.5.8?

  • How can i get iphoto on my IPAD if i already have it on my macbook pro

how can i get iphoto on my IPAD if i already have it on my macbook pro?

See this page, if your iPad qualifies for a free download: Free Apple apps for iOS 7 compatible devices
iPhoto on the iPad and iPhoto on the Mac are completely different programs. The Mac version cannot run on the iPad, because the operating systems and the processors are different. Don't expect, that iPhoto on the iPad will be able to do the same things as your iPhoto for Mac, pr that you can keep the two iPhoto libraries in sync.
Se this help page for a description, what iPhoto on the iPad can do: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/2.0/

  • How can I get iPhoto to see the edited iPhone 4s photo?

I have a new iPhone 4s.  I take a picture. I edit it and save it to the iPhone.  Then, I sync my phone with my Mac, open iPhoto.  Only the original photos appear, not the one I edited and saved.  Yet, if I e-mail the photo to myself, I can see the edited version.  So, how do I get iPhoto to see the edited version.

8 MP is the resolution of the camera sensor.  Images are compressed when stored so quite a bit smaller.  The compression ratio depends on the level of detail in the image.

  • Photos *****. How can I get iPhoto back

Photos lacks many of the features of iPhoto that I used all the time. How can I get it back?

It didn't go away.  Look in your Applications folder.
If you didn't update it to the Yosemite version, see this tip: Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS X 10.10.3

  • I delete iphoto incident . how can i get iPhoto back?

    i want iphoto back
how can i get this ?

How did you delete it? (not a silly question)
If all you've done is removed the icon from the Dock, go to the Applications folder, find iPhoto and drag it's icon to the Dock, being careful not to release the mouse until the other icons in there move out of the way for it. (if you release too early, you'll leave the application on the Desktop and will have to drag it back to Applications and try again.)
The icons in the Dock are only aliases, so can be replaced easily.
If on the other hand you've somehow deleted it from the Applications folder, there are two possibilities -
If the trash hasn't been emptied, open it, right click on the iPhoto item and select 'Put Back'.
If the trash has been emptied, you'll need to reinstall it from the software restore disc (disc 2 of the grey discs that came with the Mac), or from the iLife DVD if that's where you installed it from, or if on Lion, I believe you'll need to go the App Store and re-download it (but someone may correct me on that).

  • How can I get iPhoto onto my mac?

I've had my mac desktop for about a year now. How do I get iPhoto?

If running 10.6.8 or later, buy it from the Mac App Store and download it.

  • How can I get iPhoto back on my iMac?

My Mac died so I'm now using my brother's old iMac running Mac OS X version 10.5.8.
He didn't give me any disks to do a reinstall so I used a friend's to wipe the data and start new with mine. Unfortunately, I didn't think about all the programs that were on it. Luckily, I had my software disks still for Microsoft suite & Quicken. But, iPhoto isn't on here and now I can only view my massive amounts of photos using preview. Nothing is organized in folders, I can't edit, and generally is making me very sad.
I can't purchase iLife or iPhoto because I'm running an older version of OS X.
I don't can't upgrade to the newest OS X because I'm running too old of a version of OS X.
I can't find anywhere to buy or download from Apple any version of OS X but the newest one.
    What gives?
Any suggestions on how to get iPhoto back?

Well, you can purchase and upgrade the OS o Snow Leopard here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard and then run software update to get to 10.6.8 to access the Mac App Store and purchase iLife.
Or you can just go here http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_5?url=search-alias%3Dsoftware&field-key words=ilife&sprefix=Ilife%2Caps%2C183 and purchase iLife

  • How can I get iPhoto back?

I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my computer a while back (and it's been emptied from my trash since then). I don't have the disks that came with my computer because I lost my mac box while moving. I also don't have it backed up on time machine. Does anyone know how I could reinstall iPhoto? I really need it.
    Thank you!

Depending on which version of iPhoto, as part of iLife, your
now missing version was, you may be able to buy an iLife
vintage suitable for use in Leopard 10.5.8 & it should work.
+{But the better deal may be to see what a replacement set+
+of original discs from Apple Sales/AppleCare will cost; if+
+they still are available, direct from Apple.}+
The retail meal deal, on its own install disc. And you may
    not have to install All of iLife in order to use the iPhoto;
if there isn't a custom install mode to choose single iApps
(an option in a few cases, where you can choose One item)
you still could get only the iPhoto package to install from a
install disc through use of Pacifist utility, a download that
should work in demo mode for free; to extract just the one
item from the install disc & from the Mac's desktop install it.
(And before you try to start iPhoto the first time, be sure to
run Software Update first and get it updated to the last
version available for it; then it may actually work OK in your
computer. Even if it wasn't the exact version as shipped.)
Somewhere in not too old of Discussion posts, there was
a question asking what version of iLife was best for use
with OS X 10.5 Leopard; if one of the retail versions of
iLife has an iPhoto suitable for your existing OS and files
you may have saved, a retail iLife installer should do.
    • iLife: System Requirements (versions: '04, '05, '06, '08, '09)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27615
There are hardware and other limits as to which iLife would
work in different Macintosh computer configurations over time.
Since your computer specs don't tell me what it really is, I
can't help narrow the field as to which of the newest versions
in the above linked support article may mirror what you had.
Hopefully if you do call AppleCare support/sales to buy a
replacement restore-install DVD for your computer and
supply them with the machine's serial number, you can
get the exact item that has gone missing; and it may be
at a cost lower than someone reselling an old iLife '08/'09.
And you still could use Pacifist to install just iPhoto, if that
iLife installer disc does not allow you to choose one app.
    • Pacifist - Charlessoft: shareware app (read page info)
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Hopefully that comes together for you, in any case.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I get iPhoto to print date on photo?

is it possible to get iphoto to print the date on a photo?

    No.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
