How can I get music from my ipad to my computer?

I recently lost my hard drive when I sent my computer to be repaired. I hadn't had the money to afford the itunes match/icloud backup then, but I got it after I got my computer back. Since you can't purchase from the ipad, I had to go through the computer, but that only backed up my purchases. Now I have music from CDs that I don't have anymore on my iPad, but how do I get that back onto my computer?!

    It can not do that all by itself.
    When you plugged it in, iTunes said 'Oh goody! You got a new phone! Would you like to make it just like your old phone?'...
    You explicitly said 'Yes'.
    You can't undo that.
    No backup of the current state of the new phone was made. It was wiped and the last backup of your old phone was restored to it.
    Anything you had on the new phone is gone.

    You can either sync the iPhone and iPad to a computer that has your music on it and make sure the U2 album is not on the computer. Or you can delete all of the music from both devices (settings > general > usage > manage storage > music. Then redownload your music from your purchase history on the iTunes store

    I just migrated into a new MBP from an old one.
    It did not bring the music over.  Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
    Open iTunes on your old Mac.  Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu.  Sign in.  Do the same on your new computer.  Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
    That's what Apple says, anyway.

    Thanks for the info. For some reason none of the syncing options are working for me. Additionally, I'm unable to drag and drop music to the iphone via iTunes.

    iPods (except iPod touch which is really an iPhone minus the phone) only sync with your computer running iTunes.  So it needs to go through the computer.
    Since you loaded the iPod from your computer's iTunes library, you can just load the same songs from your iTunes library to the iPad.

    If you are running an OS of 5.0 or higher, you should be able to use the iCloud to sync both devices together & share music.
