How can I get my computer to recognize the canon eos digital rebel

I have not used this camera for more than 2 years.  I now have a laptop with windows 7.  This computer will not recognize this camera when I plug it in to usb to download pictures.  I have tried everything except what is going to work.

Do you happen to have the original discs?  Or, was EOS utility previously installed on that computer?  If not, you need to do a bit of shinanigans to get around Canon's protection (which I still don't understand, either you own a Canon, or the software is no use to you).  It's not hard, but you have to rewrite a registry file to make the software think it was previously loaded on your computer.
Go here (providing you're in the US) to download EOS utility:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
It's an "updater".  So again, you need to have had a previous version on your computer or it won't install.   Once it installs all you do is plug in your camera and turn it on and a window pops up offering a couple different options like File Transfer or Tethered Shooting.

  • How can i get my computer to recognize the recovery partition

Computer says that there is no accessable data in the  partitian.  Or it cannot find it.
So not able to restore any of the original function to my laptop

    Hi,
If you created your set of Recovery Discs ( or a Recovery USB drive ), use this to reinstall the operating system as the process will also re-create the Recovery Partition.
If you haven't created your Recovery Discs/Media, you can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

  • How can I get my computer to recognize my Sony DRC-TRV20 camcorder?

I have tried on IMac G4, MacBook(intel) and Mac G5 with several versions of IMovie and IPhoto. None of the computers recognize the camera in Profiler with firewire.

    Hmmm...
I checked  at Amazon for other reviewers who might have a mac, but all I could find was that it worked fine as long as one had the right firewire cable.
at the sony site, the instructions for troubleshooting are:
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
Make sure the digital camcorder is set up to output a signal through the i.LINK (aka Apple® FireWire® port) prior to being connected to the computer.NOTE: Not all camcorders need set up to output through the i.LINK connection. Consult the instruction manual of your camcorder for specific information. Manuals are available online through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty link on this page.
Make sure the i.LINK ports on the computer and camcorder are not dusty or dirty.
Make sure the i.LINK cable is connected securely to the i.LINK ports on the camcorder and computer.IMPORTANT: Some newer Macintosh® computers have a FireWire 800 jack that has 9 pins and customer has a 600-to-400 FireWire cord available. In this case, it may be necessary to use an 800-to-400 FireWire cable or adapter to connect to the computer. Check the Apple Store at http://store.apple.com/us if necessary.
Make sure the camcorder is turned on and being powered by the supplied AC power adapter.NOTE: The i.LINK function of the camcorder cannot be used simultaneously with the Handycam® Station that is supplied with select camcorders. In this case, remove the Handycam Station and connect the AC power adaptor and i.LINK cable to the camcorder directly.
Make sure the video capture card and software are configured properly to receive the i.LINK signal from the camcorder.NOTES:
Depending on the video capture card and software you are using, you may need to manually configure the capture card and software to receive a signal from the i.LINK port. If applicable, check the Help files of the software or contact the video capture card or software manufacturer for further information.
Sony digital camcorders are not provided with and do not require special device drivers for i.LINK connectivity. The device drivers that allow i.LINK connectivity should be provided with the video capture software. If the software you are using does not appear to have the required drivers, you will need to contact the software manufacturer.
If the issue is still not resolved, try closing and reopening the video capture software.
If the issue is still not resolved, try restarting the computer with the camcorder connected and powered on.
If the issue is still not resolved, try using a different i.LINK cable or connecting to another i.LINK port or different computer.

  • How can i get my extravert to recognize the pictures saved on my memory card so that they post in the "my pictures" feature?

I just upgraded from my lg env 3 to the lg extravert.  I had a picture memory card in the lg env 3.  I took it out and put it in the extravert but when i go to my pictures the pictures saved on my memory card do not appear on the extravert phone in my pictures.  A verizon rep told me the format is different and I have to put the memory card pictures on my computer and reformat them and then put them back on the memory card so that the extravert will recognize them??  I have no clue how to do this - can anyone help me out here?

        Hi, cjcm-
I can help get those pictures from the EnV to the Extravert! Most SD cards come with an SD card reader, which is a larger card to insert into your computer. If your does not, you can easily keep the card in your EnV and plug the phone into your computers USB port with a USB cable. Find the steps here: http://bit.ly/LVoMYP. A window should pop up on the computer screen that shows the files on the card, then you can simply highlight and drag them to a folder in the computer using the mouse. Once the pictures are on the computer, disconnect the phone and insert the card into the new device. With the card in, you'll format that card (steps here:http://bit.ly/LWqUBa).
After its formatted, you can plug the Extravert into the computer and follow the same steps to enable the USB Mass Storage and drag the pictures back to the card! Then you'll be all done and can disconnect the phone and see your pictures!
Keep me posted if you have more questions!

  • I lost my connection with my AirPort Base Station when I upgraded to the OS Maverick.  How can I get my system to recognize the base station again?

I lost my connection with my AirPort Base Station when I upgraded to the OS Maverick.  I can still see the Internet, but the Time Machine cannot backup now because it cannot locate the AirPort base station.  How can I resolve this issue?
Steps already taken with zero success:
    1. Restarted the AirPort Base Station multiple times.
    2. Restarted the Mac Pro multiple times.
    3. Looked online for AirPort update for 6.3.2 version.
Other Apple products in my house can still see the AirPort Base Station, however my Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro cannot.
    Please advise.

That information helps. If you want to use one of the SmartStor's disks as a repository for sharing your iTunes Library, then do not configure that disk as a RAID. Format it with Disk Utility using the Erase tab. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is the correct choice.
Connect it to your Time Capsule, then use AirPort Utility to configure access requirements for sharing it on your network. It should appear as a shared volume in the Finder, available to all your Macs as you thought it should.
I also thought maybe the extra HD space would be added to the existing Airport Disk.  It isn't.
Correct. There is no way to do that. The only way to increase the capacity of a Time Capsule's hard disk is to replace the Time Capsule (or its disk, if you are amenable to disassembling it) with a larger capacity model.
If you also want to use the SmartStor as a RAID, that is another story, and you should probably attack that problem separately.

  • Can't get my computer to recognize the iPhone.

When connecting the iPhone to the USB cable, the USB port recognizes the iPhone as a digital camera. This just started happening out of the blue. I have no idea what would cause this. Has anyone experienced this? Anyway, after being connected for a few more seconds, the BLUE screen of death appears with some memory address fatal error. As an FYI, I also have a iPod, and it connects without any issues.

After confirming that the iPhone is in fact recognized as a Digital Camera on a PC, the sales rep at the Apple Store and I started to brainstorm the possible causes of the system crash. He said, while it is a digital camera to the USB port, the iTunes application will still load the device and sync. Unfortunately, I was not able to get that far due to that Blue Screen of Death. So, I asked myself what has changed in the past few days. Low and behold. What has changed is that I actually started taking pictures using the iPhone. As a result, there were photos on the camera roll. So I loaded the pictures on my laptop..which did not have a problem loading the iPhone, then DELETE the pictures on the camera roll.
So after loading iTunes, then connecting the iPhone on my PC, I heard the infamous beep from the past two days. Then NOTHING for about 4 seconds, which was a good sign. Then there it was...my iPhone syncing on iTunes. It was a beautiful site. While this still doesn't solve my problem, I was happy to have been able to sync with my iTunes library. In the meantime, I'll offload my pics from the camera roll onto my laptop. Thank you all that replied.

I originally was using the Canon MX870 via Bonjour to print and scan. Last night, imac would not recognize the scanner. After I deleted the device and tried to reinstall, the system preferences are not giving me an option as having a scanner.

i was able to speak to an apple customer service personnel and was advised to use the MP Navigator to print and scan.  It worked.

Here's some more info about the router settings:
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
You should be able to get into the setup of your router by typing the IP address into your browser.
Depending on your router security setup, you might need the MAC address of your iPad, to allow access to your network, if the so called MAC filtering is active.
You can also check the name of your home network if your click on the AirPort icon on your desktop of your MacBook.
And here's a Wi-Fi assistant to get you going: http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/wifi/

  • How can I get my computer to recognize its duplicated Time Machine backup

I used Disk Utility to duplicate (restore) a Time Machine BU from a 1TB Western Digital to a 2TB WD drive. It worked liked a charm in a fraction of the time of my earlier attempts using the finder to transfer the BU.
However, I am now having trouble with the computer (2012 MacBook Air) recognizing its duplicated backup on the new larger drive. When I go to System Prefs to set up TM it starts to run a new complete backup from scratch.
This whole project was about continuing to use the previous TM BU on a larger drive. Any thoughts on what I might do to make this work and have the computer inherite the duplicated BU?
    Many thanks in advance.

As far as I have ever seen reported DV or HDV data capture into Premiere Elements Capture Windows (any version) does not work unless the connection is firewire. And, there are occasions (especially with HDV capture firewire) the require that the capture firewire be done in HDVSplit and then the split clips imported into a Premiere Elements project via the typical Get Media/Add Media route.
Which version of Premiere Elements allowed you to do a DV or HDV capture firewire in to its Capture Window using a USB connection? From what you wrote it gave me the impression that you were saying that you had.
If you have followed the protocol for HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 (with correct project preset)
    http://help.adobe.com/fr_FR/premiereelements/using/WS5CDA0F91-60F1-4b79-ABF6-E9E75F498DB2. html#WS2AF26FB5-4C63-4c46-9DB3-7249558F6528
then you would need to explore the use of HDVSplit (firewire connection) and then import of the .m2t split clips from that process in to Premiere Elements 12 (Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets).
    http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm
If both these Canon camera are miniDV camcorders, then you need a firewire connect to the data capture into Premiere Elements Capture Windows.
Do you have access to a computer with a firewire port?
    Or
Does your computer have what is referred to as a PCMCIA slot for use with a firewire card? Have you looked into the possibility? No sure if that will work for you.

  • How can I get Premier Elements to recognize my Canon Vixia  HV40 to record tape from it?

I recently installed Adobe Premier Elements 12 on my new Lenovo U310 Ideapad computer.  I opened the program and was able to transfer a clip from a file transfered to me from a smart phone recording and start assembling a new home movie.  However, when I tried to get video footage from my Canon Vixia HV40 tape camcorder, I received a message "No HDV camera connected.  I then used my older Canon Vixia HV20 camera and changed the USB connecting cable, but that camera too was not recognized.  In the past, I had been succesfull using an older version of Premie Elements to get footage from my Canon camera.  Is it possible that this new Premier Elements 12 is not programed to pick up  these Canon video cameras or is their some way around this problem.  My new computer does not have a 1394 input.
