For example, I am putting Kanye West's album "808's & Heartbreak" on my ipod. The track "Amazing" features Young Jeezy. So in iTunes, I list the track name as "Amazing", the artist as "Kanye West ft. Is there a way I can do that? I tried using the "album artist" field thinking it would do what I wanted to do, but it didnt. I also tried using the "sort artist" field and typed "Kanye West" in there, but that didnt work either. I wish iTunes was simpler and easier or atleast CAME WITH A MANUAL. Have you tried a different pair of earbuds/headphones to rule out a pair of damaged/faulty ones? You might also want to make sure the headphones are securely and firmly seated in Nano's headphone jack. Lastly, check the headphone jack for any signs of debris or damage. You may need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
I assume this static is present on any track you listen to versus only particular ones?

my old computer crashed. I bought a new one. I installed Itunes, with a new account. I cannot get my music from my ipod touch to the new computer. It is all music I had downloaded from cd's I have purchased through the years. Every time I try to authorize the new computer, it wants a credit card number for the ITunes store. I don't want to buy more music now, I just want to be able to get my songs in my new computer. This is driving me crazy. any help, since the phone support is not available when I am. Thanks.

The music sync is one wa - copmputer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer. Use your backup to put everything back

How can I get my iMac to be the primary screen again?

Hi everyone!!
A couple days ago I was watching a movie on my tv, which is my ''external monitor" for my iMac. I used VLC and it was full screen on my tv, I never had any problems with it. After the movie ended, I couldn't get my iMac screen to work. I restarted, and it flashes a white screen and it does make the apple startup sound. Also everything seems to be working just fine. When I hook it up to my TV, I can use my tv as the ''main monitor" but my iMacs screen remains black. (I have it in mirroring mode now) When I restart by pressing the on and off switch, I do get a flash of my current screen, but it fades to black quite soon after. Even if I wake my iMac up, it shows me the log in screen for about half a secodn and also fades to black. So it's not the screen itself that has any issues.
I think I accidentally clicked something in the display settings, but I have no idea how I can get my iMacs screen to work again. Does anybody know how to get my iMac back to functioning as a primary monitor? When I unplug the thunderbolt cable, it doesn't switch back either.
I already tried dragging the apple top bar from one screen to another, but it doesn't work. When I reset the PRAM, it does restart, but right after I hear the second chime the screen still remains black and it boots like it did before, still no functioning iMac screen.

The screen is all black, so it's not the backlight. It's weird because when I get the computer off of sleep mode, it shows the log in screen really quickly. So my LCD isn't broken either. It just switches back to the wrong resolution I guess. Which makes the screen black again.

How can I get my iPod to shuffle the songs far more?

Hi there,
On my mate's PC where she has an older version of iTunes, she has the option under 'Preferences' where she can set the shuffle to less likely, normal or more likely. As a result, she's now hearing tunes that she hasn't heard in ages.
I tried this when I got back, but my iTunes (version 8.1 odd) doesn't have this option, only the ability to mess around with cross-fading and volume limit etc.
Any help would be much appreciated as it seems like I'm always listening to the same songs!

There's no way to change the shuffle settings on the iPod. However, you can create a Smart Playlist where one of the parameters would be Last Played not in the last 7 days (or whatever duration you choose). Be certain to check "Live Updating". When you sync your iPod, the new playlist will be added. As songs are played, the "Last Played" is updated and you should not hear that song again for at least 7-days (or whatever duration you choose). Each time you resync your iPod, the playlist will be updated automatically (songs that have "aged" will be added, songs you have played will be removed).
Now all you need to do is turn shuffle on, choose the new playlist, and you are good to go.
A side note, I may be wrong, but I believe the shuffle setting you are referring to only applies to iTunes and to the iPod.

You might want to consider using a simpler home page, ideally one that is on your local drive, so you know Firefox is working even if you don't have a connection.

You did install the latest iTunes (10.5) right? If the problem was that iTunes does not see the iPod try:

The simplest -- and safest way for both sides -- is to use the same sort of cable you use for the AUX port on your car -- an min-jack to min-jack cable.
