Tom, thanks for your quick reply. I'm a commerical photographer using Canon 5D mk2's mostly and have in the past just downloaded images to a mac book for backup. I really liked the compact size of the Ipad and just got the retina model with the camera connection kit and seem to be hearing that CF readers can't be used with it b/c they draw too much power. Seems like I remember reading I could use a cord that might have come with my cameras to download directly to the Ipad. I haven't tried it yet as I can't find the connection but then you just said it can't be done?
   I'm COMPLETLY lost as to your "first pluging in a flash drive to my computer, advice. Do you mean Ipad when you say computer? "then put your movie/photo files into the folder." HOW????????
     Then plug it into the Ipad??????     TOTALLY lost.
Also your saying just "do a google search for a reader doesn't work b/c NONE are able to work with the newer Ipads b/c they use TOO much power or so everyone says everyone that have tried.
   Hope you can help a little more b/c I'm really getting frustrated with all the conflicting advice!

I had this exact problem.
My icloud backup would not restore to my new iPad. Easy solution:
Update your new iPad to iOS6 (they are not updated out of the box). Likely your old iPad is on iOS6. The backups are not compatible across different iOS platforms.
After the update, you will find that your most recent backup will show up as a restore option.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

No DV port in camcorder. Just a yellow AV port/hole. I did find a Canopus ADVC110 device in a box that was bought several years ago to convert VHS tapes onto DVD's. Can I use this with a Mac? Could I connect a dvd player to the Canopus and transfer the disks onto my Mac? Or, connect the camcorder via AV port to the Canopus and that to the Mac and transfer that way? Thanks again!

How do I get my new iPad 2 to work?

Hello there. I am new to Macbook Pro's and iPad 2's. I bought this here Macbook Pro about a month ago. I bought a new iPad 2 Wi-Fi 16GB yesterday from Best Buy. I'm not very "computery". I provide live sound (I run sound / mix bands) for a livng. The ONLY reason I bought the Macbook Pro and the iPad 2 is so I can use the iPad 2 to remote control my digital mixing console (mixing board).
So, I take the iPad 2 out of the box. I don't remember doing it, but I already had iTunes on this laptop. I didn't have an Apple ID so I lucked into finding out how to do that. I made an Apple ID and a password.
Then I connected the cable to the Ipad 2 and this Macbook Pro. I registered the iPad 2 (I think?) and then tried to "sync" the iPad 2. Before clicking "sync", there were boxes to click on that I didn't understand but I went ahead and clicked "sync" at the bottom.
So I figured I could now select "Sign in with an Apple ID" on the iPad 2. I did that OVER AND OVER but a box keeps popping up that says,
          "Could Not Sign In
There was a problem connecting to
                the server.
                      OK"
I am so frustrated! I'm not a big computer person. I get on the computer to read and send emails, watch Youtube videos, and look to see who's fighting next weekend (boxing and MMA). That's about it! I though I should at least be able to check my email on this iPad 2? Can I at least check my email on it?
In Sesame Street terms, what is a server? I Googled it but it's not in Sesame Street terms.
I wonder why I can't at least get on the internet with this iPad 2?
I'm on the internet right now with a Macbook Pro. There's a cable connected to it and the iPad 2. Shouldn't I be able to get on the internet with the iPad 2?
What buttons do I need to push? What boxes do I need to click? I'll worry about downloading (I hope that's the right term) the stuff to mix remotely later.
I hope someone out there can help me. I need to use this for work. I need to get this going. Thank you, ANYONE for any help you can give me.

You should be able to get into the setup of your router by typing the IP address into your browser.
Depending on your router security setup, you might need the MAC address of your iPad, to allow access to your network, if the so called MAC filtering is active.
You can also check the name of your home network if your click on the AirPort icon on your desktop of your MacBook.

During the set up process of the ipad it has picked up all his email contacts and not mine although Ive successfully set up my email its just got his contacts for some reason. How do I get rid of his and sync mine from my email accounts instead?
