After updating my ipad to my horror my notes have all been deleted
It's really important to me to get them back. My daughter died 8 weeks ago and there were things that we wrote together on there. Irreplaceable things.
Why didnt apple warn of this before releasing the update
Also hate what its done to my photos. Again no warning
i followed advice from these forums and plugged into laptop and itunes and restored.
I now have even less. Half my apps have now gone too

Noo!!! How can I get my contacts back after failed update?!

Tried updating my phone. Got the same error everyone else has. And before some smart aleck asks, no I haven't hacked my phone at all. Just contacts and songs have been added.
Got the error, and had to restore. Now everything's gone. Pictures, contacts, everything. Please tell me there's a way to get it back. Most of those contacts weren't in my Outlook. And my old phone's been recycled so I can't get the info off that either.
I love the phone....but I hate the update.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like a smart-you know what, but what in the world were you thinking of updating the iPhone with no backup? At the very least having your contacts on your desktop program (Outlook) would be a good backup. If I read your post correctly, you manually entered your contact information on your iPhone, you have no copy of that data anywhere else, and completely wiped out your iPhone with a restore.
If I understood the situation correctly, then no, there is no way to get your contacts back.
I would highly recommend you enter them on the computer, not the iPhone. Sync them over to the iPhone, making the iPhone the SECOND place where you have all your contacts.

You buy one and only one download of music/vids/tv shows/movies. It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your device. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

This is a strange case. I had a previous iPad 1 synced to my pc, 2 years ago. That iPad is long gone. I now have a different iPad 1 that was never synced to any pc, and actually had a couple of apps purchased from different users. The apps aren't the problem.
I synced this second iPad to my pc and it seemed happy as can be. I then updated the iOS. When it was done it had nothing other than factory apps and no data. So I restored it.....
But it restored the OLD iPad! It even renamed this iPad to the old name. It replaced my notes with the notes from that old iPad.
I've fixed all the app problems. But how can I get those notes back? I've looked at the backups, but note that it never had me back it up, it only synced.

There is quite a difference between syncing and back-up and they are different features in iTunes, although some people combine them together.
1. The first thing that happens when you connect your device is that a photo manager asks if you want to offload your photos. I always do this because it is the most valuable way to back-up your photos only.
2. Then Itunes will come up and if you have automatic sync turned on it will begin to sync FROM your computer to your device. It's a one-way sync and is the primary way to keep photos, music and some apps managed on your device. New apps are synced onto your Itunes app tab. If you add or delete items in your iTunes folders then those changes are synced to your device. I always check to make sure my new apps are now in my iTunes library and specific device tab.
4. There is also a back-up step where you can back your device onto your computer. I think this is the step that should have been done when you got your new PC. It doesn't save the apps here but does save their setting and data. I prefer to set this up to be a manual back-up process.

5. There is also a a "Automatically sync new apps checkbox in your itunes device apps tabs. That should be checked "on".
6. If the missing apps were purchased through iTunes then I think you can download them again (make sure you use the same Apple Id). If you then resync with itunes those apps should appear in iTunes for you.

Do you have copies of them in the Tones section of your computer's iTunes library or on your backup of your downloads/library so that you can sync them back to your phone? If you haven't then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a redownload

I'm fine with just having CC, but I need Encore which is not available through CC. How can I get it back? Please don't suggest I use another DVD program. I prefer to stay in the Adobe family for the dynamic linking, among other reasons.

Okay so i had a Iphone 5c and broke it so they shipped me a new one, And as i was trying to set my new one up the paper said to go to settings and back up my phone and then erase all content and settings from my damaged device, So i did. I had saved my photos on my WD My passport but I think it was only saved like a preview.
We need to know more, to be able to understand what you have done.
How did you save your images to the external drive? Did you copy your Aperture library there?
Is your Aperture library referenced or managed - did you store the original image files outside the Aperture library or are they included in your Aperture library? If you have referenced images, did you back them up too?
The error message you are seeing, shows that Aperture cannot find the original image file. That is indicated by the yellow warning badge with the arrow.
If your Aperture library is referenced, you need to restore your backed up original image files as well from their backup, and then use the the command "File > Locate Referenced Files" to reconnect the image versions with the missing original files. Do you have a backup of the originals? If you cannot restore your referenced originals, you can turn your previews into new originals; post back, if you need help with that.
If your Aperture library is managed, and all your originals are included inside your Aperture library, try if the Aperture Library First Aid Tools can fix this:

Check if the "Masters" folder inside your Aperture Library contains any image files: Crtl-click the Aperture library and use "Show Package Contents". Are the missing original image files inside?

I just did the iOS6 upgrade, against my better judgement. Of course, after the upgrade it put my phone into recovery mode. I didn't think this would be a big deal because THIS time, I had backed up my apps.
Unfortunately, none of my apps are still on my phone. I have to re-install ALL of them. I don't even want to say how much money I sank into games and I'm cringing thinking that all of my progress has been lost.
My question is this: How do I get my back up if on iTunes, it looks like my apps are no longer even there!!!?

I had the same problem, but I just synced the iPhone to iTunes (using the cable), and all of my apps came back. They were all advanced a screen over from where they had been prior to the upgrade, so if it looks like they might not be there, keep going just to make sure.
