How can I get my old Firefox My Home and My Links pages back, and all my bookmarks?

I have a new computer with Win 7 64 bit and started to use Minefield, but I decided to go back to Firefox. Now have Firefox 4 but need all my links and bookmarks I have on my other system. What files do I need to look for from my other old drive to get my added links and bookmarks for my Google homepage in Firefox.?

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • How can i get my old firefox back?

I don't like this new blue one and didn't ask for it, it was suddenly there. Besides, it has some really peculiar behaviour. As an example, right at this moment I have 5 firefox tabs open. The first one is a question on your forum. When I clicked the 'ask a question' link at the top of the page, it opened the next page in a new tab. And when I clicked the search button on that page, it opened another tab again. That tab asked me what product I want support with and opened another tab with the next page. And yet 10 minutes ago it was working properly. It keeps doing this, suddenly changing it's mind on how it opens new pages.
Also, I can be scrolling down a page using the scroll wheel on my mouse, then suddenly it stops scrolling and starts making the page larger or smaller instead. Why does it keep changing it's mind on what it's doing?
Really don't like this new browser and would appreciate it if I could get my old one back which worked perfectly well and really didn't need upgrading.

Thanks for your response Cor el, I'll try that the next time it happens, it's completely random. One moment it functions normally then suddenly it changes its mind.
Restarting my pc usually brings it back to normal until next time.
One thing I've noticed, but not 100% sure there's a connection here.....I edit my websites online and log into cpanel which opens new pages in separate tabs, as it should do. It seems that this problem occurs when I'm logged into cpanel...if i'm logged in then open a new tab for regular browsing of other sites then all links on those sites also open in new tabs.
Ican't say for sure if it's always only happened when logged into cpanel, but certainly on the last 3 occasions.
At the moment it's behaving normally so much I can do to check your suggestions, but will try them the next time it occurs.
One other thing I forgot to mention too....since i've had the new firefox, I've noticed that when I log into yahoo and post comments, I often find myself having to log on for each new post. Everything was fine with old firefox and there have been no other changes to my pc .

  • How can I get my old Firefox back, this version sucks?

This version has nothing I like. How can I go back to the old version I had? I don't know if you think I have furnished enough information or not but I would appreciate an answer. You should not force people to change their toolbar preferences and everything else they have used for years. you had a good thing and you screwed it up. WHY? don't say to improve Firefox because you didn't.

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues if you have those,

  • Verity Credit Union site will not open with the new Firefox. How can I get the old Firefox back?

I want old Firefox back. My credit union, Verity, will not open with the new version of Firefox I have downloaded.

@glennhaste, the public pages I visited seem identical in IE8 and Fx10, but you may be referring to a part of the site that requires logging in (impossible for non-customers to view).
Since the problem is so recent, can you recall any changes you made in Firefox, or are you aware of any changes your CU made on its site?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    Firefox > Preferences > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, "right-click" and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies" (''Sorry, I don't know how you right-click on a Mac'')
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • New firefox installed - didn't give me the option of not installing it before telling me that (essential to me) add-ons were incompatible. How can I get the old firefox version back?

I would not have installed the new firefox if I had known in advance that two of my essential add-ons would no longer work. Now I want the old firefox version back so I can continue to function until the add-ons are updated. Suggestion: when you notify user that add-ons are incompatible, give the option of reverting to an earlier firefox version.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • How do I get my old Firefox back

How can I get my old Firefox back for my Windows 7. I'm not sure what version of Firefox I had before I downloaded this new one. With this new Firefox it comes with a Yahoo search bar which I cannot stand and a lot of other buttons I don't want. With my old version I had everything the way I wanted it but now it is all gone. Please help and show me the path way back to my old Firefox.
    Thank you, Mike

The Yahoo toolbar may have been added by an extension or other (security) software on your computer.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
