How can I get my OS X Mavericks finder window contents to scroll?

Since I upgraded to OS X Mavericks I've noticed that I can't do the 2-finger scrolling through my finder window contents any more - any one know how to turn it on again?
(I have scroll bars set to always in syspref)

Oh sorry - yes I have - I made sure all my settings were identical to what I had set up on my old (OS X 8.5) macbook including the track pad.
I can scroll everywhere else (chrome/windows/evernote/notes etc) except in the finder window - and as I'm always grabbing stuff from there it's quite annoying.

Every time I open the browser, a pop-up window asks "Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?"

  • How can i get quicktime to work on my windows vista

everytime i download the latest update of quicktime, it says it cannot find the "active x control" can someone explain to me what that is, and how can i get quicktime working so i can have my iTunes running again

I was just on a windows computer with some horsepower power. I can't get it, the video would play fine, but no audio. Perhaps Jon could take a look? I can't pick up anything on it, other than it's a .mov
I no longer have home access to a Windows machine or Mac running Windows OS. As I am not an HTML programmer, I did not check the page coding but had no problem playing any of the video content on the linked page using the Safari browser. Spot checked the source files and found them to be typical MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) files with a frame rate of 30 fps using CABAC entropy Main Profile Level 3.0 (SD) and Level 3.1 (HD) encodings in MOV file containers. As to audio, only one file—Video+(1).MOV (the "Raven, Salma and Kenneth" Claymation Practice file)—contained an AAC (LC) audio track. Except for the use of capitalized extensions (which I don't think should cause a problem), the videos themselves look standard and should be playable on any system using any compatible media or plug-in players that support standard MPEG-4 content and the MOV file container.
    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  • How can I get my iPhone to sync it's contents to a new PC?

My computer completely crashed, so I was unable to remove anything from it.
How can I get the contents (music, apps, etc) from my iPhone 4 to my new PC??

Do you not have any computer service providers around your area to do a simple data transfer for you? would be easier for you to do that.
    You can try this too:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/29/sync-iphone-new-computer-without-losing-data/
Make sure you sign in iTunes and authorize the computer first. Then connect the iPhone,(cancel the sync),right click on your iPhone's icon in iTunes and select "Transfer purchases".
This way your apps/books will be synced with your new PC.

How can I get my MacBook Pro to read and download a DVD I previously created on a computer using Microsoft Windows XP?  The DVD has the photos I had on my old Hewlett Packard and I want to transfer them to my Mac.  I really appreciate any help you can give.

I've asked the hosts to remove your email address - it is not safe to post personal information in an open forum. Can't help with your question since I don't run Windows, but had one idea: Are these photos in .jpeg format? If so, could you just drag the photos themselves onto your desktop from the DVD?

So the user can get always the room printer automatically mapped as the default and don't need to choice the right printer. How can we do this and will this work wor hotdesking too?

currently you can not use SGD and Sun VDI on dual monitors. There is a Request for Feature Enhancement to provide this feature in a future version.

  • How can I get iTunes to re-locate my media content on the hard drive, after a failed attempt at copying the library to an external drive?

Long story short, I attempted to use an external drive to house my iTunes library to relieve some storage space on my MBP hard drive.  The external drive was formatted as FAT32 and it got hung up on an HD movie in excess of 4GB in size.  I had to reformat the external drive as MacOS Extended (Journaled) to solve that problem....but then the bigger issue showed up....
While reformatting the external drive I switched iTunes back to the original library location on my local hard drive.  Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't recognize all of my content that did manage to get copied to my external drive in the first attempt to transfer content to that external drive.  Nearly 2200 files have exclamation points next to them.  Here is my question:  Can I get iTunes to re-locate all of my content at once in the original iTunes files on my local drive without having to "locate" each of the 2200 files one at a time??
    HELP!

try if this script works for you:
    iTunes Track CPR v1.3
This script attempts to locate the files of so-called "dead tracks"--iTunes tracks designated with (!)--that you assume are not actually missing but are still located in the iTunes Music folder in their "iTunes File Order" (Music -> Artist -> Album -> file.xxx)."

  • How can I get a microphone that works on windows to work on Lion?

    I have just recived a headset I ordered off eBay. : http://www.ebay.com/itm/380536763585?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m143 9.l2649
I have a windows laptop, and I plugged in the 3.5 mm jack for the microphone, and it works fine. If I go on my mac, and I plug in the correct plugs the the correct locations, it wont work. I have selected it in settings, and looked at the volume and gain. It wont work on Lion. I am using a 2008 iMac with 4gb of ram, and it is running mountain lion. How can I fix this?

Hi, most PC Mics/Headphones won't work on Macs that use Line level, to use that you'll likely need an iMic...

  • How do I get iCloud Drive in the Finder window?

I have just installed Yosemite on my early 2009 iMac and want to use iCloud drive.  I have been using iCloud up till now and have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8 with iCloud drive enabled and an iPad 3 also running iOS8 with iCloud drive enabled. I have upgraded my allowance to 20GB on the iMac by going to System preferences>iCloud>manage.... and upgraded my plan. I have logged on to the web version of iCloud and added a new folder. I have uploaded some files from my finder window to the new folder in the web application. However, I don't have an iCloud drive folder in Finder on my iMac. I have a Google drive and a Drop box which act like local folders, and I assume that iCloud drive would act in the same way, allowing me save or move files directly into iCloud drive without having to use a web application. Does anybody have a missing iCloud drive on their finder page or know how to install the drive?

    Hi,
Go to Finder > Then click Finder on the top left corner next to the Apple Logo > Preferences > Sidebar > Tick the iCloud Drive. And the folder will be there.
    Hope that helps
    Cheers,

  • I've just updated to Mavericks but there isn't enough room on the disk.  how can i get the old OS to load reduce content?

i dowloaded Mavericks onto my 2011 Macbook Pro and upon installing realized that there wasn't enough room on the disk for it.  problem being that now i don't know how to get into the machine at all to remove content and make space.  any assistance appreciated.

Once you can boot to free disk space here are hints on how you can do that.
    Restart in Safe Mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US
    Empty the trash.
    - Delete all files in the Downloads folder.
      Empty the Trash.
    - Start iPhoto.  Empty its trash.
    - Delete "Recovered Messages", if any.
Hold the option key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down menu.
        Library > Mail > V2 > Mailboxes
        Delete "Recovered Messages", if any.
    - Empty the Trash.
    - Restart.
    - Re-index your system disk:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409
    Backup:
Run a Time Machine (or other) backup since you are about to delete and move files and you may need to recover from any inadvertent mistakes or decisions.
    Deleting and Offloading files:
Use OmniDiskSweeper find large folders and files to delete or offload.  If you are running 10.8 or 10.9 download it from http://www.omnigroup.com/more.  If you are running 10.6.8 or 10.7 down it from  https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/7402/omnidisksweeper.  Do not touch any system files.  Do not offload files onto a Time Machine disk.   Do not offload your entire user folder. Do not rely on restoring files from Time Machine; delete only those files you never want to see again.   Do delete or offload seldom use folders/files in your user folder.  Remember to empty the trash after trashing the files.
To have Time Machine backup your system disk and your external offload disk up onto your Time Machine disk:
 > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options… > Remove the offload HD name from the exclusions list.
From: "More ways to save space if you have a spare partition or second hard drive."
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html
    - Compress and archive old files.
    - Clean up system logs and temporary files.
    - Uninstall Mac OS 9.
    - Move your iTunes Music folder to another disk or partition.
    - Move your iPhoto Library folder to another disk or partition.
(Includes instructions on moving subsets of the libraries.)
