You contacted your carrier, what did they say. There is no special setting on the iPhone for SMS, only MMS. You can go into Settings>Messages, make sure that MMS is turned on for media messages, but SMS has to be activated at the carrier end.,

Only if you have an iPhone using with iOS 6 or greater using the same APple ID for Settings>Messages>Send and Recevice.

My iPhone only sends and receives messages from email

I am switching my iPhone 3GS formerly on AT&T to Straight Talk. I set up my phone, but the iMessage is acting up. I sign in to my Apple ID, and it has my number (grayed out) and my email as options to send and receive messages. When I go into settings > messages > send and receive, it only shows the email. This is very frustrating and I just want to figure it out. Any ideas?

It's because the phone number hasn't activated yet. This could be because the APN settings for Straight talk are not correct. It also can take up to 24 hours for the number to activate through the iMessage servers.

I am totaly confused by eircom and efibre.......last year I was in arrears with eircom to the tune of( as I thought) of €357.66and I was disconnected but in the long run I got a huge bill in my door of €656.48 , when I had to the money to pay the original amount, I was put through to efibre who told me that remaining amount of €298.77 shouldnt have been on my account and they would take it off I was also given a new account and phone number. I have now got several bills from my old account plus a letter from a company called BCW (debt collectors) who are treathening to take legal proceeding against me...... can anyone tell me how do I get my old account information and that conversation I had that day??

Thanks Tracey,I got a letter from the debt collectors BCW on Thursday to say if I didn't respond to that letter within 5 days they were going to take legal proceeding against me. 10 minutes from receiving the letter I got a call from BCW to say that eircom had been in touch with them to say the issue has been resolved and that I don't owe the money,I am now waiting on a letter from BCW to tell me same so as I have it in writing. How can I be sure iMessage is sending and receiving via WiFi and not using my text message allotment?

My daughter has a new iPad Touch and I have a 3GS with 5.0.1. She wants to send and receive a million messages from me each day day with iMessage. Right now, I have Settings>Messages>Send As SMS - OFF. With this current setting, can I be assured I am using the WiFi only and not burning my SMS allotment from ATT? Am I safe to restore Send As SMS setting to ON? In other words, will the default method of transmission of text messages be through the internet, when that service is available?
Without waiting for a $1000 bill from ATT for text messages, can I ensure I'm sending and receiving iMessages through the WiFi only?

Well, I just noticed that a shaded iMessage appears in the enter text window when sending to her iPod Touch and my messages appear in a blue balloon, with her replies are in gray balloons. When sending to someone with another kind of phone, the text entry window says "Text Message" and my balloons are green. I guess this is an indication that the iMessage system is working and I'm not blowing through my SMS allotment from ATT.
With these indications, can I be sure I'm messaging through the iMessage system, or the carrier's SMS service?

My iPhone both sends and receives messages from 2 different phones. They are registered with the same iTunes account. What can I do to stop this?

My partner and I both have iPhone 5s and an iPad. We registered all three products with the same iTunes account as we download music and movies together. I have noticed when my partner sends me a message it also appears on my phone that I have sent it AND recieved it. The same goes for when I text him. I send the message to his phone and my phone also recieves it. Facetime does the same thing. Its very strange. Does any one know what I can do to stop this from happening?

To stop this, don't use the same Apple ID on both phones for iMessage and FaceTime. (You can continue to use the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't need to be the same as the ID used for iMessage or FaceTime.)
On one of the phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Then do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.

How can I get the No. of package and requesting system name in user exit?

Is there anybody knowing how to obtain the extracting package number and requesting system name in the user exit "EXIT_SAPLRSAP_002" ? here is detail on my questions as below:
For package number. If extracting 100,000 records of 0MATERIAL_TEXT , and the package size is 20,000, then there are 10 packages, when executing the user exit, how can I know which package I am extracting on?
For requesting name, when executing the user exit, how can I know the logical system name from which the extraction request is sent?

Thanks for your quick response.
The background of this requirement is, in the datasource 0material_Plant_Att, we added two fields in the extraction structure, one is variable price, another is previous year's variable price, which need to be obtained by searching data KEKO & CKIS in the user exit, these tables have the huge data volume, in each data package, the user exit needs to be executed once, so the heavy searching needs to be done once, consequently, the total running time of this request including several data packages is very long. In order to improve the performance, we design the following logic:
1. Create the temporary tables YCKIS & YKEKO in R/3.
2. Run BW request in BIW.
3. In R/3, If this is first data package of this request, delete all data in YCKIS & YKEKO, then search the data from CKIS & KEKO ( Average 20 million records), then insert these data into YCKIS & YKEKO ( Average 0.2 million records).
4. In R/3, if this is not first data package of this request, then search the data directly from YCKIS & YKEKO.
You can see in the above, in the step 4, the data searching performance can be improved significantly due to reading data from temporary table, this is why I need to know the No. of data package. In addition, apparently, it can not be done in BIW side since the performance issue is in the user exit rather than in BIW. Also it is very difficult to setup one counter to deliver this since we do not know when to reset the counter. For example,
- Assuming there are 3 data packages.
- 1st day, we schedule one request from BIW, in R/3,
   -> At 1st package, counter = 0+1=1
   -> At 2nd package, counter =1+1= 2.
   -> At 3rd package, counter = 2+1= 3, then reset counter = 0 for next request.
Question 1: How can we know the 3rd package is last one?
Question 2: If during the 2nd package, the extraction job is cancelled exceptionally, the counter value is 2 not 0, then for the next request, the data searching is not correct, right.

How can I get my phone to send mail through a RoadRunner accountnvia 3G

My iPhone 4S can receive e-mail addressed to my RoadRunner account when I am not connected to my personal WiFi base station, but I cannot send messages or replies until my phone is back in touch to my home WiFi. (Or I can send the reply from my mac.com e-mail address, but this does not help my wife, who has an iPhone 4s but does not have a mac.com e-mail account.)
The RoadRunner POP account on my iPhone uses pop-server.nycap.rr.com as the Incoming Mail Server and smtp-server.nycap.rr.com as the Outgoing Mail Server. I do not have anything defined as an Other SMTP Server.
I have tried to add iCloud SMTP Server as an Other SMTP Server, but that doesn't work because the on-screen keyboard does not include a space bar.

From what I recall reading here in the time that I have been here is that Roadrunner is a problem email provider. To my knowledge, they do not allow relaying, which is defined as using another network to access their network to send mail. This is something many POP email providers do. The purpose of this is because they do not know entirely who you are, because they do not use authentication.

How can I get system recovery discs (mailed and/or burned from laptop)?

I have a family member who is in another state and has a Toshiba C855D-S5100. It is just under 1yr old and is having some issues booting up. She got it from Best Buy and took it to them yesterday. They are currently running a full diagnostic scan and will let us know what the problem is sometime today (virus, bad drive, bad memory, etc.).
In the meantime, it made me think that we may want to create some recovery discs (if we can). I did this with an older Gateway. It required 4 DVDs. Can this be done with this model? If so, how as it has Windows 8 and I am not real familiar with this operating system just yet.
If the test comes back and says the hard drive is the issue, the unit will be sent to Toshiba for repair (since there is 2 weeks left on warranty). In addition to trying to create some recovery discs, can we maybe somehow order the actual recovery discs from Toshiba directly (& keep for future purposes if the hard drive fails and gets replaced)? If so, how and where do we go to get these Toshiba recovery discs sent to us?

How can I get Mail 2.1.3 to receive email from gmail?

I am not receiving any emails in Mail from anyone sending from a gmail account. They do show up on my Bellsouth server, but don't make it to my mailbox. Is there some setting or filter that I can activate to receive these messages in Mail, in Tiger? Thanks.

You will need to have a gmail account in Mail. Open Mail, open Preferences, click Accounts and check to see if you have already built a gmail account there. If not, do it. If it is already there, click Account Information, Mailbox Behaviors, and Advanced to make sure all is as it should be. Check especially Advanced, the three check boxes at the top.

Still can't receive messages from Iphone Users

I know there are many topics asking similar questions if it's googled, and I think I have read through almost all of them to no prevail. I know veterans of these boards probably get tired of seeing the same topics, but im desperate and will try to keep it quick. I really appreciate any help.
I recently upgraded from a 4S to a Galaxy S5 and have not been able to receive messages from Iphone users since. I still have my old Iphone. Here are the steps I've tried:
1) Ensure "IMessage" is disabled in my old phone
2) Unregistered my phone number with my Apple ID. I currently have no phone numbers registered with them
3) Changed my Apple ID Password
4) Unregistered my Iphone with my ITunes Account.
5) I also have a Macbook Air and a 2010 model IMac. I have also ensured I am signed out on those devices and my phone number isn't linked in anyway I could find.
6) I called Apple 3 Days ago and the representitive was very nice and professional but ultimately was incorrect. He advised me that the new IoS7 is more advanced and should check about every 12 hours to see if the user on the other end has an active IMessage account. He said to wait 24 hours just to be safe. He also advised people running older IOS systems could take up to 3-4 days to contact me correctly. Furthermore he said if after that time frame their phones still sent me IMessages instead of SMS then THEY were having problems and should call Apple. I just really doubt that is the case.
I have tested it out with 5 Iphones now with help from some friends, all running IOS7 and still no luck 3 days after the phone call to Apple.
7) I tried logging back into IMessage today on my Macbook and it worked, I was still able to send and receive texts from Iphone users. This seems like it should not be possible since it is not linked to my phone number anymore. It is logged into the same Email that I used to have linked to my phone number.
Now as others have said, If I have them hold down the bubble and send as text message 3 times their phone will remember and keep sending my texts, however that is unreasonable to ask everyone to do. There should just be a way to completely delete your Apple ID. Is there anything I'm possibly overlooking? I really appreciate any help.

I am right there with you. This describes my problem to a T. Only other issue I am having is group texts. Iphone users who include me in a group text still send as imessages as well, so even if I text them first and they reply, it send as an imessage. Get it together apple.

The phone number format as well as the date language and format and the time format are controlled by the Region Format setting. Go to Settings > General >International > Region Format. When you change a region format, you can go back one page (to International) and see an example of the date/time/phone number format that your selected region format will produce.
