How can I get my phone to send mail through a RoadRunner accountnvia 3G
My iPhone 4S can receive e-mail addressed to my RoadRunner account when I am not connected to my personal WiFi base station, but I cannot send messages or replies until my phone is back in touch to my home WiFi. (Or I can send the reply from my mac.com e-mail address, but this does not help my wife, who has an iPhone 4s but does not have a mac.com e-mail account.)
The RoadRunner POP account on my iPhone uses pop-server.nycap.rr.com as the Incoming Mail Server and smtp-server.nycap.rr.com as the Outgoing Mail Server. I do not have anything defined as an Other SMTP Server.
I have tried to add iCloud SMTP Server as an Other SMTP Server, but that doesn't work because the on-screen keyboard does not include a space bar.
From what I recall reading here in the time that I have been here is that Roadrunner is a problem email provider. To my knowledge, they do not allow relaying, which is defined as using another network to access their network to send mail. This is something many POP email providers do. The purpose of this is because they do not know entirely who you are, because they do not use authentication.
My best answer to you is to look over in the "More Like This" section to the right side of the thread and see if you can find an answer. Look specifically at the ones with the green checkmark, as that indicates questions that have been answered. Good luck.

You contacted your carrier, what did they say. There is no special setting on the iPhone for SMS, only MMS. You can go into Settings>Messages, make sure that MMS is turned on for media messages, but SMS has to be activated at the carrier end.,

What setting has changed?The phone number format as well as the date language and format and the time format are controlled by the Region Format setting. Go to Settings > General >International > Region Format. When you change a region format, you can go back one page (to International) and see an example of the date/time/phone number format that your selected region format will produce.

As AT&T has not officially unlocked your phone it must have been hacked to use another carrier. So when you updated it has relocked itself to AT&T. There is no official unlock so this will happen anytime you update.

the requested information. It is called Activation Lock and is a security

First of all do you Mount or Unmount the card from the settings menu before pulling the card out of its slot? Make sure that the option Mount is greyed out in you settings menu when the card is in the phone. If not select it. If you pull the card out of the phone select Unmount first. You can also try formatting the card from the same settings menu. If these two things do not work, then either the card is defective or the card hardware slot is defective.

I've tried upgrading my iPhone 4S using iTunes 12.01.26 on 4 different computers at home and at the office:
Macbook Air - OS X version 10.7.5
Macbook Pro - OS X Yosemite
2 PCs running Windows 7 Professional
iTunes downloaded the installer and the installation process seemed to get 90% complete before showing the error, "The iPhone, "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (6)."

I've tried holding the power button and home buttons down for ten seconds, then letting go of the power button, but keeping the home button down for another 10 seconds. I've also tried Reiboot, Wondershare Dr. Fone in desperation to try to get the phone out of this mode. Nothing seems to fix it.

It didn't get very wet because of the cover I use, but it still had a dunking..
Right, when I re-set the phone using on/off key top, I get the blackberry name and a white screen, after about 20 seconds this then fades away to leave just the white screen.
Now the red led is flashing and the blackberry name appears for maybe 2 seconds then goes again...
Is there anything I can do to help my phone work again.
