How can I get my songs from my old itunes to my new one?

I've recently changed computers. I installed iTunes on my new laptop and I plugged my iPod into it, the songs I bought from iTunes were transferred but the others originally from CDs were not transferred. I don't know how to fix this and I have over a thousand songs so don't really want to install the all manually again.
Thank you,
Cherry.

  • How do I get the songs from my old Mac to my new one sans iCloud?

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air and I need to know how to get the songs off of my 2007 MacBook onto my new one without use the iCloud.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

Copy the music from Nano to computer by:

Restore from the iCloud backup - assuming that you were backing up to iCloud in the first place. If you weren't using iCloud for backup - then you are out of luck.
If you were backing up to iCloud - you have to erase all contents on the iPad in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings - before you can restore from the iCloud backup.

    Hello brjdunn,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You are able to change your Apple ID by following the instructions below.  That way you will still have access to all of your previous purchases:

  • Is there a way to get my songs from my old ipod to my new one?

i was just wondering if there is a way to get my songs from my old ipod nano to my new ipod nano because some of the songs i have are not in my itunes... so if there is a way to get my songs from my old ipod to my new one can someone tell me how please

You can't copy directly from one iPod to another. If the songs on the old one aren't in iTunes you need to copy them back and update the new one from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I recently brought a new HP laptop and I downloaded the newly updated iTunes on it; however I have an old Aver laptop with iTunes version 10.7 on it or the one before iTunes 11 came out. How can I transfer my movies from the old version to the new one?

I recently brought a new HP laptop and downloaded iTunes 11 on it. My old laptop which is a Acer has iTunes version 10.7, I believe. I wanted to know, How can I transfer 18 movies from the old iTunes onto my new Itunes? It only shows the most recent two movies when I look at the purchases in my account. I had a lot of moves downloaded last year from the old version and would like some assistance on how to get all those movies into my iTunes 11 library. Thank you.

you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
    you should have all intact.
    Post if any problems.

Backing up the old iPhone with iTunes and restoring to the new one is a good solution. However, if you have difficulties in doing so, you can transfer the data from the old iPhone to the new one directly with the help of iPhone PC Suite or MobileTrans.

how can I transfer my playlists from my old ipod to the new one

Export playlists from iOS - http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1113751
A playlist is, of course, just a listing of music tracks, or did you want to copy the music too?  You do not transfer that from iPod to iPod, you synch the iPod to the same library used with the first one.

  • My hard drive crashed. I slaved the old drive, but did not make a backup of my bookmarks. how can I transfer my bookmarks from the old drive to the new one?

My original hard drive was replaced due tom multiple errors. Before it crashed completely, I installed a new hard drive and slaved the old one to allow me to access the data and transfer it to the new one. I did not backup the bookmarks. How can I pull the old bookmarks from the old drive to the new installation drive???

Since you said you were able to transfer the data from your old drive to the new one, you probably still have the old Firefox Profile. Please read this article to see if it helps:

  • How can I get the songs from my iPod on to my new iTunes library?!! Help!!

So I've looked on all the support pages but I've got a feeling there is nothing that can be done with this, hopefully someone can help!
We moved to the US and while our computer was being sent over it got water damaged so I lost all of my itunes library. And I didnt back it up properly. So I want to know if there is anyway to transfer all the songs from my ipod onto our new itunes library, or if i can somehow get my ipod songs on to disc and then import them?? I really don't want to lose all my songs, so if anyone can help I'd be very grateful!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone

  • How do i bring my songs from my old computer to my new one

i just got a mac and i have a ton of songs on my iTunes on my old computer. however most of my songs were imported from another source. i don't want to go through the hours of work to rename all of the songs if i reload them onto my new computer. someone told me there is a way to transfer all of my songs to the new computer via the internet. however he was not sure about how to do it. can anyone explain how?

the rest of my songs are from another source
Once a song is in iTunes, it doesn't matter where it originally came from - it will transfer from one machine to another. The only problem would be where the song is a DRM iTunes Store purchase and you used up all your 5 authorisations, but this doesn't apply in your situation.

  • How can I use back up from my old iPad  to my new one when one is iOS 8.1.3 and the new one is iOS 7.1.2. It not compatible on the screen of my new iPad

I Had several problems with my old iPad so I have now been given a new one.i have made a back up on iCloud with my husbands iPad bit now it's telling me on the screen that there are no iCloud backups are compatible with the version of iOS 7.1.2 on this iPad my husband has iOS 8.1.3. Which I am trying to set up from.
    what do I do?
    kathryn.

You can't restore to a backup that was taken on a device which has a higher version of iOS than on your iPad, you will have to update your iPad to 8.1.3 to be able to restore to it
You should be able to update your iPad via Settings > General > Software Update
