How can I get New Window back to the top as first choice? v4.0 has swapped it with New Tab.I'm using v4.0 on a Mac.

I'm used to clicking on File and having New Window as my first choice. New Tab is now at the top of the list. My brain is slow to make the transition to the new format and I keep choosing New Tab in error. Can I swap them?

As someone who uses predictive typing constantly when I use my iPhone I can understand not having it available would be upsetting. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
You can activate predictive typing by going to Settings > Keyboard > Predictive and turn it on. See this help article for reference -

If you have just hidden the predictive text suggestions by moving the suggestions bar down you will see just the gray top of that bar. You can drag it up again to regain the view.

How can I get my Albums back at the top of the Library Panel?

I recently upgraded to 3.3.2 and among the many new and sublty annoying features, all the smart albums which I created and which used to be at the top of the Library panel now appear at the bottom below the Projects.
Why someone thought this should be moved is beyond me... and I am hoping there is a way for me to bring it back to the top.
In some of my Aperture libraries I have literally hundreds of projects and rely on smart albums to quickly organize photos across them. Having to scroll to the bottom of the pane is a pain!
Does anyone know how I can bring the ALBUMS back to the top of the Library pane?

Create a folder (new Folder), call it "My albums" or similar, and drag it to the top of your projects section in the Library Inspector panel.
Then drag all your albums there.
You will have to set the projects to be arranged manually, or let the name of this folder start with a character that bring it to the top, if you want to sort by name.

2 computers at home working with the same files i keep on an external hard drive to free up space the internal drives. I have an airport extreme time capsule to back up both computers. how can i get it to back up the hard drive plugged into time capsual?

I want to run both my macbook pro and imac from a single external hard drive.
i bought a time capsual and set it us as my network and plugged my external hard drive into it. so now both my computers can access it and work on the same image and film files. the time capsual does a lovely job of backing up both my computers and my wifes. but i cant get it to back up the external hard drive that is conected to it. ive looked on the forum and it seems to me that its not possible, which seems odd to me that mac would enable you to plug a hard drive into the time capsual but not let you back it up, what is the point in that!?
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
I did the upgrade to maverics on my imac which has caused me a major headache as now all my apature albums have been updated to 3.5.1 but my macbook pro can no longer open them because im unable to upgade it to maverics, but thats another story.
If anyone can help me with my time machine issue i would be very greatful.

The TC for whatever it is promoted as,, is still a simple hard disk in a router. It was designed for laptops to use as a backup. A desktop can use a USB drive, faster cheaper and more reliable than a network drive but the laptops need a network wireless storage. Hence the TC. It is NOT nor was it ever designed to do the job you are trying to use it for.. it is not a NAS.. it has no internal backup.
What is more Time Machine has no ability to backup network drives no matter what their format.
So the solution is to either use a real backup software.. eg Carbon Copy Cloner which can do far more than TM can or ever will. It is around $40 so hardly expensive. But since the TC was never designed for it, this will be slow.. and the next question is where are you going to back to. Using the TC as backup location for your files is less than great. Primarily because all your files are still on the same device albeit on different disk. It is also because mixing data and TM backups is not so great. The TC cannot be partitioned although you can alleviate some of the issues..

Fundamentally the TC is the wrong place to do this.
The right place is to plug the USB drive into the iMac.. since it is a desktop machine and you are probably not lugging it around. Simply share the USB drive to the network.
The MBP can then access the USB drive, and it will be around twice the speed of networking to the same drive on the TC. TM on the iMac can then also backup the USB drive to the TC as part of the normal TM backups.
The only thing is the iMac needs to be turned on to allow MBP access.

How can I get Captivate to revert to the top of the screen for each slide after published?

I have a project captured in 1024x768. If the user has many toolbars in browser, they have to scroll to see the whole screen. If they use F11 in IE, this virtually eliminate the problem. In MAC however, there is no F11 feature. So, how can I get the published Captivate file to load each new screen at the top scroll position? I have tried changing the html and tried adding Multiple Actions on success to click boxes with Go to Next slide and Execute JavaScript command: onload='window.scrollTo(0,1)'. Neither are working. Any idea how to get the screens to stop holding the previous screen position?

Please remove "onload" from your javascript command. The "onload" event is fired when a html page(or any other page for that matter) is loaded. In your case the page is already loaded, that is, the page is loaded again when the user moves from one slide to another. Hence your javascript will not be executed.
So just have
"window.scrollTo(0,0)" as your javascript.
This should work fine.
P.S. The execution of the javascript is browser dependent and browser settings dependent.I tried with chrome,IE 6 and FF 3.5, it is working. Please make sure that your target audience have javascript enabled in their browser.

I recently upgraded my IPad because I thought it was a necessary security upgrade since Apple's security was recently compromised. I did not know it was going to reconfigure my settings. I hate it the way it is now and don't know how to get it back to the way it was. Is there anyway to reverse the upgrade without losing my pictures and other data? I also lost some expensive courses I had purchased. They are no longer there when I open the app. I hate the way it organized my pictures too. I have no control over this, and it makes me very unhappy. Is there a way to fix it?

How can I get my window to fit the screen? It is too big.

All of a sudden a few days ago my window on my MacBook pro expanded and now does not fit all at one time on the screen. I must have done something but do not know what. How can i get my iPad back on the internet?

Everything wad down today...cable, internet, etc. Now it is back. My iMac is right back on line and all is well. The iPad, though, says I am not connected to the internet and nothing is working. How do I get the iPad back on line. I checked the settings and it shows that my wefi is on and I don't see any other settings the check or fix.

How can I get my photos back in the right order?

I recently reset my iPhone 4s, having backed it up. When I re-synced it my photos were all in the wrong order, they seem to be displayed in some random order. For example, four photos that I took one after the other are now scattered among other photos. I would like to have them in date order, but can't seem to do this. I know I have to do it on my computer first, and am running Windows 7.
Can anyone help? All I want is my photos back as they were before I reset the phone.

Thank you. I had actually done that, and then could not re- sync my iPhone. It connects to iTunes and is recognised, but does not sync, although the bar at the top sys it is synching , and goes through the process very quickly. But in the end I still have my photos in the old order on the iPhone, and no music at all!

My screenshots have stopped going to my clipboard. How can I get my screenshots back into the clipboard?

I use Command (⌘)-Shift-4 to grab screenshots of diagrams to make flashcards with on a daily basis. But now my screenshots have stopped going to my clipboard - and they don't paste into my flashcards.
Dropbox popped up and asked me if I wanted to use it to save my screenshots and I said No Thanks, but then right after that my screenshot function stopped working. I can still save shots to my desktop, but I'd love to not clutter my desktop. The screenshots are not going to dropbox either, I checked.
Can someone tell me how to get my screenshots to go back to going into my clipboard?

Thanks Lanny! I actually typed in the wrong command into my question - I meant to type what you mentioned. But I did end up figuring it out: for some reason the shortcut to screenshot into my clipboard changed. I was able to restore all my shortcut commands back to default and it worked again!

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

How can I get my library back if the Originals folder is missing/deleted?

I updated from Leopard to Lion and so everything was deleted. Well I thought I backed everything up as I was supposed to, but apparently not. I copied the iPhoto library file to an external harddrive and some of the files from that library didn't/wouldn't go over. The computer gave me a message but I don't remember the specific words. So I did the Show Package Contents of each file, the original library and the one in my external harddrive, and selected all and moved everything to the library on the external harddrive. I didn't even think to specifically carry the Originals folder from the old library to the new one and I noticed yesterday after some issues with iPhoto telling me it needs to be upgraded but then crashes when I press update. Is there a way to restore the library, well at least the original file sizes of the pictures using the thumbnails or anything else from the library?

If you don't have the original files then I'm afriad you don't have anything to work with.
