How can i get rid of Backup Files?

Hi,
whe using "Write To Measurement File" and  "Read From Measurement File" i read and save to the same file (i.e. "example.lmv"). When i run the program and the signal is saved in this file, the information is saved in the file but at the same time it creates a "backup" file; I noticed that this is caused when i use "Read From measurement file". Is there any way that i can run the program, without creating this backup files? I run the program many times a day and i dont want to fill my computer with these files every time i run it.
Thank you for your help,
Guillermo
P.S: I attached an example VI and the file where the signal is saved.

Thanks for your help again.  The VI that i sent you was a mere example of the true program that I am working on. This program controls a motor and rotates it counter clockwise and clockwise. I can only rotate the motor a maximum of 360 degrees so i set up the program to give me an error whenever I rotate the motor 0 degrees or less and 360 degrees or greater. To do this, I write the mount of degrees desired on a file ("Write to Measurement File") and the next time i rotate the motor I use the "Read from Measurement File" to read the previous amount of degrees that i wrote and adds it to the new one and saves it again on the same file. When this number of degrees reaches 360 degrees, it gives me the a message that i have to change the direction of the motor. The issue that i want to fix is that every time i write to the file it also creates a backup file and i want to get rid of it so i dont have a new file created every time i run the program. I noticed that whenever i use a program that just writes on a file using "Write to Measurement FIle" it writes on that file, only, and  does not create a backup file. Whenever i use "Read to measuremnet file" to then write the signal in "Write to Measurement File" the backup file is created; so i came to the conclusion that is the "Read to Measurement File" that is creating this backup. Is there any other way to call a file without creating this backup file?
Here i will add the three VI's so you can see what i mean. I will add the full program, and the two examples that i explained above.
Thank you,
Guillermo Naranjo.

  • How can I get rid of cache files?

Premiere Pro, can't find cache files on Mac, not in the common folder, clean doesn't work, I know there are Gigs of them on my drive.  How can I get rid of them?
I started a premiere project I had worked on before using an external drive but forgot to hook up the external drive.  In a few minutes, Premiere loaded 5 gigs of cache files onto my macbook pro drive OSX 10.8.6.  I tried the following to free up the space:
Tried to "clean" the cache folder before switch it to the external drive - this only removed a small amount of the 5 gigs created
Tried to find files in the Application Support/Adobe/common folder - no cache files found
Tried searching the web for answers - no new info
Tried searching my drive for the files - can't find them
Tried restarting the MacBook and Premiere with and without the external drive - no luck
    Now what?

Reason: please make a shorter and more concise title next time. Thanks.

First off, exactly which version of Premiere are you running? Not simply PPro CC or CC2014 but the version number shown in the About box.
I'm not clear whether you're saying that Premiere can't find the cache files or that you can't find them.
I gather that you're referring to the Clean button on the Media tab of the Preferences dialog, which is also where you set the path for the cache files.
Are you sure you're looking in the correct Library--not the one that's readily accessible under Macintosh HD but the one that Apple, in it's infinite wisdom, hides from users. To access it, open the Go menu and press Option.

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

How can I get rid of the accumulation of the backups in the Macintosh HD of my new MBA 13.3'' ?

My best advice is that you stop worrying about the backups that TimeMachine is making on your MBA. First, these local backups are only made when TimeMachine should perform a backup but your computer isn't connected to TimeMachine. Once you reconnect your computer to TimeMachine it makes a backup and the local backups are deleted. Second, TimeMachine stops making local backups when your free drive space dips below 80%. So the local backups aren't going to take over your computer.

  • What is the file attribute @ and how can I get rid of it

I converted some wav files using Roxio Toast 11 and the output AIF files have a '@' in the file permissions and are not displayed in Finder. What does the '@' mean and how can I get rid of it. Would love to know why Toast adds it but I posted a question on Roxio's site and hopefully will get an answer to that.
    thanks for the help

okay, so I yes, it does indicate extended attributes. I executed ls -l@ *.aif and got this

I then did xattr -c *.aif to clear the extended attributes which got rid of the '@' but the files are still not being displayed in Finder.

  • How can I get rid of files that cannot be imported error message

Hello, this is my first post. I am a new mac user. I have imported my jpgs from an external hard drive which was in the most part successful, however, 14 of the files appear to be corrupted and every time I open iphoto9, I get the error message, '14 of your files could not be imported, would you like to import them now?' I have tried choosing both options yes and no and it then writes error message telling me it has created recovered photos folder. When you go to this folder it is empty and every time I restart iphoto, I get the same message. I have tried deleting all the files and re-importing only to find that the number of corrupted files has now doubled. I have also deleted the iphotos library recovered photo folders to no avail. I have tried creating a new library and importing the files to that but the same problem occurred. How can I get rid of this repeated error as I am now up to recovered folder number 47! Help!

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
quit iPhoto and right click (control click) on the iPhoto library (in the pictures folder by default) and select the show package contents command - find the import (or importing) folder and drag it to the desktop and launch iPhoto - you should be fine now - open the import(ing) folder on your desktop and if there are any photos you want import them then trash the folder

I'm running OS 10.6.8.  A file (C1EC7F00) has appeared and can't be trashed.  How can I get rid of it?

    Where has it appeared?
You can forcibly remove it via the terminal..this will bypass flags/permissions preventing you from deleting it.
    sudo rm -rf /path/to/file/C1EC7FOO
Note that the path to file needs to be the actual path. What you do is type sudo rm -rf , then just drag the file right into terminal and the path will be entered. Make sure there is a space between "-rf" and the "path." Make sure you copy the exact command and path to file. Make sure NOT to hit Return before you drag the file into terminal if you choose the latter method. This is a dangerous command if used improperly. Very effective, though, in cases such as yours.
Once entered, hit return. Enter your password. Type "exit." Close Terminal.

    Hello Jeff,
Thanks very much for your reply.  I looked over the article you mentioned, but I have tried all of these methods, but only get the response "The item “29394D00” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted."  Similarly, I cannot Get Info on the file.  This is why I'm so concerned, it just appeared on my desktop, but I cannot touch it, or open it or delete it...
If you have any more tricks up your sleeve, I'd love to hear about them...

Back up all data, then boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup), launch Disk Utility, select your startup volume, and run Repair Disk (not Repair Permissions.) If any problems are found, repeat. Then reboot as usual.
