I noticed on the past month or two that on certain sites a little bar appears with thumbnails of things thtx are somewhat similar to what I have on screen. whenever I working with firefox, AVG warns me of a JS/Redir virus. I click on remove and AVG states it has put into the virus vault. However it always returns. The AVG dialog shows the file from the mozilla profile; adblockplus\cache.js. I have deleted this, but the problem continues. This problem occurs only with firefox. There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
          com.something.daemon.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
There may also be a file named
           com.something.helper.plist
in the same folder.
If you find files with names that fit the above description, post what you have for "something."

Thanks very much for your reply. I looked over the article you mentioned, but I have tried all of these methods, but only get the response "The item “29394D00” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted." Similarly, I cannot Get Info on the file. This is why I'm so concerned, it just appeared on my desktop, but I cannot touch it, or open it or delete it...
If you have any more tricks up your sleeve, I'd love to hear about them...

I also read that sometimes this virus can appear to have been deleted but then when you reboot the computer it re-installs itself. How can I get rid of it completely and permenantly? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and he said you guys could repair it but it costs about $200. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that you know of. Please help because it keeps messing with my internet pages and is making my computer slower than it should be.

Stuff like that is better known as "spyware/malware" - There are categories of malware not consider viruses (although often they are installed by a virus as a larger payload).
I would suggest trying Malwarebytes. If Malwarebytes can't fix it, your best bet is probably to nuke and repave. (i.e. backup your data files and then reinstall Windows and all applications from scratch.)

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Until now I have had only Google as start page from Firefox. Of course I can click on the Google icon to get there, but it is the only site that I want to use of all these. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. Even if it doesn´t harm my computer, I am afraid that it will slow it down, and, besides, it needs an extra click to get to Google.

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Yes, it is a varient of the same malware however for Mac users it appears to only infect the browser using a Javascript lock.
Write down the url of the malware site, all you need is the domain name like discussions.apple.com, nothing else is needed.
1: Command tab to the Finder
2: Apple Menu > Force Quit > Safari
3: Relaunch Safari holding the Shift key down to disable reopening of previous pages.
4: Reset Safari.
5: Report the offending site to: https://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_badware/
6: Restart your machine and restore from TimeMachine backup or bootable clone (optional at this time as we don't know much about it on Mac's yet)
