Apple wisely leaves a copy of iMovie version 9 installed in the Application folder when you download version 10.

Getting the request for a serial number means that at some time you had the iWork ’09 trial installed. You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. The easiest way to fix the problem is to use Yvan Koenig's AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip. Download uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button.
Apple's support article on the subject says it's due to having a copy of the trial that is a higher version that the one you've purchased, but I'm not sure that is very common. This problem started with Snow Leopard & it seems to be some code in the iWork installers that doesn't do what it should.

That doesn't mean that you have updates.
Not sure how that app works, - normally means you have a notification for that app - what happen when you go into the app?
If you had update it would be a red number for the app store icon

  • How can I get rid of multiple versions of the iTunes Folder

I am using Windows 7 and iTunes 12.1.1.4.  Multiple iTunes folders have been created on my computer (on both my C: drive and my D: drive under Users and My Documents) and they all have different content.  Some albums show up in one instance of the iTunes\iTunes media\music folder and some show up in another.  How do I get all the content synched up?  Can I simply drag and drop all these iTunes folders into D:\My Documents\My music\iTunes (the D: drive being where I store all my documents and photos) and then delete the rest of the iTunes instances?

    Several remedies may apply:
For media files that are correctly linked from your iTunes Library, i.e., they will play without reporting something like this:
you can make sure that everything is contained within your main iTunes folders by selecting File > Library > Organize Library... and when you get this prompt:
check the Consolidate files box and, if not greyed out, the Reorganize files ... box and then click OK.  This will move any media files that are in other locations to the folders under the setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced:
This is the location of your media folder.  By default, this will be C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media, where your iTunes database (the iTunes Library.itl file) is stored in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes.  In general that relationship between the database and the media folders should be preserved - in the example above the complete library is stored on a external drive, with the database in K:\iTunes and the media folder location being K:\iTunes\iTunes Media.  Note that this setting doesn't tell iTunes where to find media files (that info is embedded in the database); rather, this setting determines where new media is placed within the media folders.
Checking this causes iTunes to automatically place media in folders, and (re)name media files, based on the metadata associated with the files.  For music this means that everything will be in folders following the pattern iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_title and files to be named using the disc number (if present), track number and song name.
Checking this makes iTunes copy all new media into the media folders, independent of the method of adding it.
    Second case ...
For songs that are listed in your library but you do get the "missing file" error, right-click on one of these songs - there will be a "(!)" symbol next to its name, right-click > Get Info.  When you get this prompt:
click No (there's a bug in iTunes 12 such that you actually have to click No twice).  Then go to the File tab and look for the Location information - sometimes you have to scroll down or expand the editor window to see it.  You'll see something like this:
The "file://localhost/" prefix indicates that iTunes can't locate the file.  The rest of the entry is the path to the file that iTunes holds in its database, i.e., where iTunes "thinks" the file is.  This may be enough of a clue to determine where it actually is - close the editor, right-click > Get Info again, but when you the "... cannot be located ..." prompt click Yes then navigate to and select the correct media file.  In many cases iTunes will then be able to adjust its location info for other songs.  Otherwise there are a number of techniques that you can use to track down and repair these broken links - often using scripts running against the iTunes database.
    ... and the third case:
If you have folders that are labeled as "iTunes" but their content doesn't appear in your library within iTunes itself, add these to the library by any of these methods:
select File > Add Folder to Library... then navigate to and select the folder(s) containing the "missing" albums/songs
drag and drop these folders from Windows Explorer into iTunes
copy these folders into iTunes' Automatically Add to iTunes folder
Once you've been through these steps its probably worth running the Consolidate Library process again to make sure everything's in the right place.  Once you've checked that to be the case, you can delete any stray "iTunes" folders that are outside the hierarchy rooted in the folder where your database and your standard iTunes Media files are located.
    Two final points:
Moving files and folders around yourself never fixes anything in iTunes - in most cases it'll only make things worse by creating (more) broken links
A couple of turingtest2's valuable user tips also apply here:
Make a split library portable describes the optimal layout for an iTunes library, easing the processes of moving it between computers and maintaining a backup of it, as well as the steps needed to bring a library into that shape
Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy describes a suitable/recommended method to create and maintain a backup ... when you've gone through the effort to make your library just exactly perfect you don't want to lose it all as the result of a virus, hard disc crash, or other fatal failure!

  • How can I get rid of outdated versions of Flash?

Hi. I'm new to the Adobe forums and I need help with Flash
    Player.
On a friend's recommendation, I ran my system through Secunia
Software Inspector. It found that my Adobe Flash Player was
outdated and that I have five outdated versions of Macromedia Flash
on my system in seven different locations.
I have updated my Adobe Flash Player, and that's fine now,
but the installation failed to get rid of the old versions of
Macromedia Flash. The Secunia writeup even hinted this might be a
problem, and suggesting I go to "the vendor" (Adobe) to find out
how to solve the problem. Here's what it said:
"NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not
always automatically removed from your system. If older versions
were detected that you believe should not be present, then please
contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system."
These Macromedia files don't show up in my Control Panel >
Add/Remove facility. They don't even show up if I Search for
Macromedia. I did copy down the names of the files where Secunia
    says they are found:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx (version
    4.0.7.0)
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx (version
    7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\swflash.ocx (version 4.0.7.0)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Flasha.ocx (version
    6.0.80.0)
    C:\Program Files\EarthLink Setup\Windows\access\program
    files\EarthLink TotalAccess\Flash.ocx ( version 6.0.79.0)
    C:\i386\Flash.ocx (version 7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\NPSWF32.dll (version 8.0.24.0)
Can anyone suggest a solution? I am not at all adept at
computers (for all I know, even asking this question gives me
away), so I may need extra-simple language. But apparently, talking
to people who know Adobe is the only way I can find myself a
    solution.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
You may already know this, but have you checked your folder
options under the tools menu in Windows explorer?, not your browser
Internet explorer. Click folder options, click on the view tab,
click on show hidden files and folders and you can deselect hide
protected system files and folders. Hit apply and Ok. Do another
search, type in some of these file names or their extensions,
Ex.(*.ocx), and the files should come up, oh I almost forgot, down
at the bottom of the search page there are options, choose to
search for hidden files or system files, then do your search again.
Secunia says in order to disable the prior versions to delete
certain files, but it doesn't look like one can remove all the
entries and files from ones registry or hard drive, it looks like
they will always remain on your pc, but the previous flash player
versions should be disabled. When you find and remove these files,
I recommend you go back to the folder options in windows explorer
and select hide protected system files and folders. Just so you
don't accidentally delete these important files, unless you know
what your are doing, if you do, your computer will be messed up
royally. Also, it may be a good idea to also select hide hidden
files and folders. It depends on your knowledge of the pc.
Good Luck! I hope this helped you.

  • Can I get rid the newest version of iTunes and use an older version?

I've had nothing but trouble with the newest version of iTunes. I can't listen or watch any music or videos on my laptop, iTues often freezes up, movies are taking 8+ hours to download ?!
Is there a way to get rid of the new version and use the older one? If so, how?
I'm too impatient to trouble shoot EVERY single problem I'm having with this version....

    hi micromarty!
I now get and error that says the memory cannot be read.
that error message sounds familiar, but i'd just like to make sure. could you post back with the full text of that error message, including the numerical codes?

  • How can I get rid of Shockwave Player Error message? I'm not trying to play anything, but it pops up whenever I reset my Safari.

I keep getting a message on my Mac saying:
    Shockwave Player Error
To view the movie, open your browser in the 32-bit mode.
    1) In Safari, select applications/safari in the Finder and click more info
    2) Ensure that Open in 32-bit mode is selected
    3) Re-launch the browser.
I did this, and selected the open in 32-bit mode but it's still giving me this message.
Interestingly, it does this every time I reset my Safari (which I do upon closing Safari), UNLESS I unclick the "Remove all website data" item box - then I don't get this weird shockwave player error message.
I would like to know either how to get rid of the error message (stop it from popping up) or how to download/install shockwave in case I need it.

I am having this issue whenever I go to Safari privacy preferences tab it pops up this same error window repeatedly, over and over, even if I don't acknowledge the first one... it just keeps adding the error window one on top of the other. (a little offset like opening multiple browser windows).
If I switch to a different application it may even keep popping them up keeping them on top all the time.
I navigated to Library/Internet Plug-ins and there was nothing in it.

  • How do I get rid of yahoo and Pogo toolbars. They are not listed in my XP Windows programs, but they are on my firefox home page and interfere with my gmail use..

Both toolbars have uninstall instructions in their help section shown on the toolbars. I've pasted these in the trouble-shooting section below. When I try to find these programs at the START menu, either in my settings or in the "add/remove program" section of my Control Panel, they are not there. Both toolbars take prominence over gmail, which is my preferred toolbar for browsing, etc. So although I can do whatever I need to do, I first have to wend my way through Pogo's face page and then yahoos intrusion on web sites. Why can't I get rid of these two toolbars? I never intentionally asked for them and I'm still not sure how they were authorized to be there, although it is obvious that I must have done it.

it wasnt listed at ALL on my toolbars, and when i originally open firefox, the first page is google. when id start a new tab however, this stupidness was there. i had to go into Control Panel->Internet Properties and change it there. Hope it helps you also :)

  • How do i get rid of duplicate songs on my ipad that are not in itunes

I have multiple devices and recently joined iCloud and iMatch.  My problem is that on my iPhone 4 and iPad when I connect they show that I have 4800 songs on them.  I only have 1400.  The extra songs are not on itunes and are not on the devices.  If I select the device drop down and the look at music I can see all 4800 and it's multiple duplicates of songs that I own with a Syncing symbol by them.  I can not select them, delete them or anything.  But they are taking up space on my devices according to iTunes.  iDeas?  This is on a PC Win 7

    Hello courtney_rae33,
It sounds like you have deleted song music from your iTunes library on the computer but after syncing the phone to your computer the songs are still on the phone. From what you describe it seems as if iTunes and the iPhone are set to Manually Manage the content. This article will help you determine of that is the case:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
Connect the device to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If your device isn't visible in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Library.
Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
    Click Apply.
Manually add or remove content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
After following the steps above, you can add individual songs, videos, and playlists from iTunes to your device. To add content to your device:
    Select your device.
    Click "On this Device."
Then choose "Add to" in the upper right corner.
While viewing the media in your iTunes library, if you drag a song, video, TV show, or Movie a sidebar will appear on the right. You can drag content onto the device.  You can also create and modify playlists directly on the device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How can I get 64-bit windows versions other than 'nightly'

How can I get a 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows that isn't alpha quality (Nightly).
    I'm still running FF 3.6.26 ....
I've said before, give me a reason to upgrade...64-bits would be a good reason, but the fact that a large number of extensions fail -- (try to install the latest firebug 'swarm' in nightly -- epic fail! (404)...), we not only don't have a swarm for you we've never even heard of you!...
So give me a version of FF-go-nightly, that's equiv to the latest released version, and it might have a chance...
I did get most stuff working -- curious why jar files were renamed to 'ja', they don't seem to be in japanese when I unpacked them... ;-) I found it wasn't a typo...
had a full transparent brower on about blank... a bit weird. but sorta cool...
finally figured out how the menus were messed up and saw howto correct most of the damage, but without spending alot more time fine-tuning, it would be hard to get it back just right.. but after spending a day (~10am-8pm on using Nightly), upgrading/config'ing various extensions....etc.
Anyway, I know I said give me a reason.. to upgrade from 3.6 -- a carrot rather than a stick, but too many problems...come on .. even the version was unlucky to begin with! (13!?) .. (I like 13, really, but thought it was humorous).
So how about 64-bits in something a bit better supported?
Why not 64bit versions of each of the releases?
Finally FF got a bit better perf (a bit worse for more debug on, but better in having enough memory, and using a native instruction set rather than the virtualized 32-bit WOW, that it normally runs on...)...

Mozilla has never released a 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows, and the 32-bit versions of Firefox are faster than the Nightly 64-bit version test builds.

i downloaded acdsee camera flash (us$0.99) in Hong Kong's app store, but i cannot find it in the app store after i changed to another iphone. it seems that the app is no longer available in HK, how can I get back the app?

First make sure you are searching the name correctly.
If the app is no longer in the App Store it is no longer available for download. This happens when Apple has found the app violates the agreement with the developer or when the developer no longer wants the app listed in the App Store.
If the app is truly no longer in the App Store your only option is to copy it from iTunes on the computer you normall sync with.

  • My iTunes music folder is almost 1.5x the size on disc as my iTunes library. How can I get rid of this extra data?

When I look at the iTunes music folder in Windows Explorer, it shows as 28.0 GB. In the iTunes library, it says my music is 18.3 GB. I would like to get my 10 gigs back.
I've tried to add the media folder to my library - it just duplicated maybe 10 songs, didn't add any new ones. This suggests that there isn't any extra music in the folder. So why is it 10 GB larger? How can I get rid of the extra non-music data?

Apparently there are some mp3 files that aren't adding despite importing the folder...
That is actually a very common problem, due to iTunes being strict/finicky/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about slight variations in MP3 formats. The problem can usually be corrected by treating the files with a 3rd party tag cleanup program, such as MP3 Validator.
i don't know how much of the missing 9.7 GB this will apply to, but definitely worth a try.
