How can I get the application "Preview" back? I tried using both the cds that were given and I googled it and it still doesn't work. I still have "Preview" but its corrupted so it doesn't let me open any pics or anything. What can I do?
It also won't delete off my computer for me to try downloading it again. I don't know what to do.
Download this shareware program, it will allow you to "peek" inside the pkg and dmg files of your OS X installer disk that comes with the computer so your can replace the copy of Preview with a new one.

and it might not be your Preview program itself, rather the preference file it uses.
Look in your "username"/Library/Preferences folder for these three files and move them to your desktop, reboot and relaunch Preview

They get rebuilt automatically. Check to see, if so and everything is fine, then Trash the 3 files on the desktop
Also run all of free OnyX cleaning and maintainence and reboot.

Once you have the drive connected to your Mac, click System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Click Time Machine
Click Options
Be default, the hard drive will be Excluded from backups. Click the drive to highlight it, then click the "-" (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the drive from Excluded items.
The drive will be backed up on the next Time Machine pass
Everything above assumes that the hard drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as Time Machine will only backup drives in that format. -

How do I get my application data back after OS upgrade?
First I tried to update to iOS 5.1.1 by downloading the .ipsw file from Apple and shift-clicking the Update button. I got Unknown Error 3014, which apparently is a known error and is to do with contacting the Apple server. So I tried again, and this time the iPad got stuck in the "Connected to iTunes" screen, and I searched online and found that the only real way out of this is to do a Factory Restore to iOS 6. Oh well, I would have to put up with the new Maps app but that isn't too bad.
So I did that, then I selected to restore"Phil's iPad" onto it, but my machine ran out of disk space. I cleared up some space, and got it to restore again, but I think that what happened in between was that it automatically backed up and synced the new half-restored state to my PC. So when I came to restore it, it only restored half of it. Since I had iTunes set up to sync every time I connect, the system that keeps the most recent three backups had deleted all the backups that were of any use and all I ended up with are three backup states that are all missing my application data. All my game progress is now gone, all my photos and home videos, all contacts, notes, all gone and I think gone for ever.
Any idea whether it's possible to get all my stuff back?All apps and media should be in iTunes on your computer, if you've failed to transfer purchases from the device to iTunes it is possible to download past purchases.

Contacts and calendars are in whatever application on the computer or cloud service you have configured them to sync with.
Pictures and videos taken with the device are designed to be copied off to the computer regularly.
Frankly, it is not very smart to rely on a device that can be so easily lost, stolen, or damaged as sole storage of your imporant data, I'd dare say it is boarding on completely moronic. -
Ok. So first of all I bought a new computer. The old one completely crashed no longer can get anything out of it. I threw it away.
I backed up my Iphone on the new computer and did the sync. iTunes asked me to update so I did. Now I can not delete songs from my iPhone.
I am using a windows system. This means if I open iTunes once and then close it I have to turn my computer off and start again.
I admit having a huge rant on this forum before but I am getting really frustrated agian. On te old system it was easy to make songs into ring tones by making it into an aac version. Now it seems I have to buy ringtones???? What is up with that?????

How do I get my application window back on my desktop?
I use an extra LCD display with my G5 which I have temporarily disconnected.
When I use Sorenson Squeeze 4.3 it usually appears on the second screen but since I have disconnected it, the application window has disappeared off-screen. I have made sure that the computer doesn’t still think that the extra display is connected but this makes no difference.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Major U.S. wireless carriers on Thursday pledged to make it easier for consumers to "unlock" their mobile phones for use on competitors' networks, responding to pressure from consumer groups and the top U.S. communications regulator.
Verizon Wireless, AT&T Inc, Sprint Corp, T-Mobile US and U.S. Cellular agreed to "clearly notify" customers when their devices are eligible for unlocking and to process unlocking requests within two business days, said wireless industry group CTIA.
U.S. wireless carriers often "lock" smartphones to their networks as a way to encourage consumers to renew their mobile contracts. Consumers often get new devices at a heavily subsidized price in return for committing to longer contracts.
The top carriers have long allowed consumers to unlock devices and take them to another network at the end of a contract term - commonly, two years - though the process varies by company and can be quite painstaking.
Then in late 2012, the Library of Congress, the minder of U.S. copyright law, completed a new triannual review of exemptions to the law that effectively made phone unlocking illegal, even after the consumer completed the contract.
The ruling surprised many telecom observers, outraged phone users, and finally landed on the White House's agenda thanks to an online citizen petition that gathered 114,322 signatures, more than the 100,000 needed to spur a response. The White House sided with the petitioners.
I have been a Verizon customer for a decade (10 years). Verizon is now misleading me about having my iPhone 4s unlocked. After a long discussion they finally unlocked my families phones leading me to believe it was nationally. I just found out that they are REFUSING to unlock my phones in an effort to keep me with Verizon and very large monthly payment plan. If my phones were unlocked, I might stay with Verizon, however, in light of their deliberate attempt to lie to me and keep me hostage, I will most like buy new phones and move away from Verizon within the week.
Can anyone tell me if they have had success in having Verizon unlock their iPhone 4s?I believe that the carriers have 3 months to partially implement this "pledge" and 12 months for it to be fully implemented.
I have not heard of anyone getting a Verizon iPhone 4s unlocked yet for use in the US. -

I restored my phone on iTunes, but when I did, all my info deleted and now it's my sister's old data. I tried to go back on iTunes and restore, but my original data isn't even an option. How do I get my old data back?
Before you did the resotore Via itunes you should of made a Back-up of your Data. But to be honest, i don't think that you would be able to get that stuff back.. Sorry mate
