I found many folks here trying to hide of the clock, but I need the clock. I use a PDF on my iPad for my notes when I am speaking in front of an audience. I need the clock so I can kep track of time.

How do I get the watch to stay awake longer?

I noticed that when I am using the watch, it only stays awake for a matter of seconds before going dark. For example, I was using the Stop Watch app and while trying to time something, the watch went dark after a few seconds. This caused me to have to lower and raise my wrist again to access the app again.

I Think it varies with what app you're using, I just went on the message app & left it & it lasted for a good 10/15 secs before going dark plus like what DonCote said you can always just tap the screen to get the screen back up instead of flicking your wrist. Not sure whether apple will change this as they'll want to do anything to help battery performance...

Is there a way of setting the backlight on my 8900 Curve so that when it is connected to the USB or Mains charger,
( and therefore not draining the battery ) the backlight stays on ?
I can only find settings in Options / Screen/Keyboard, which I have set to leave the backlight on for 90 seconds, and dim automatically ?
Obviously I don't want to leave the backlight on for longer than necessary when it is NOT connected to external power,.
I was hoping that there are either some separate settings that I haven't discovered,
which only apply when connected to external power, or failing that maybe an App that will do the job ???

When you first plug your phone in, it should go to the clock and that does stay lit. Other than that, there is no way to set the phone so that balcklight stays on.

Hey fellow Apple Geniuses - I just got the latest iMovie11 so excited for the new trailer feature, only to discover that these teenie weenie movie trailers are not near long enough for my taste, however I do like the cool transitions and layouts, so I discovered that I can convert the trailer to a project and then add more content, which I am doing right now. I need help though with the audio track... Does anyone know the secret to getting the 43 second music track to repeat, since this particular track (Friendship2) is not showing as an option in my iTunes/iMovie licensed audio to be able to keep dragging more into the movie? If you mean play them back with the same MIDI information, and have the MIDI channel set up to control the external JV1080, yes you can. But if you mean control the Audio levels and such, I would recommend bringing the JV1080 back into logic on a Stereo input and grouping it with the Audio Instrument.
I have the o/p of the md player going into tape i/p of the mackie 1202- VLZPRO.
I believe the Tape inputs of a Mackie board goes straight to the output faders. Try another set of inputs.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

at the moment, on my site, if the page is longer than the screen, it goes behind the footer,
but the foot bar moves up the page as yo scroll down to see the rest of the content.
any way of getting the footer to stay put, while body/page contant scrolls ?

You can use some css to do it...

The css above will lock your footer to the bottome of the browser window. As long as your footer <div> is last in your html, it will float over the top of everything on your page when the page is scrolled. If it's not last in the html, you'll need to add a z-index to get it on top of your other content in the stack.

There are a variety of things you can do to extend your device battery life, and use your phone for longer periods of time to see you through the day.
Set your screen to timeout after a period of inactivity. This way your phone is not sitting idle with the screen backlight consuming extra energy. The recommended screen timeout is 30 seconds, but most phones will allow from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.
Turn off location services (GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not using these functions. When they're on, your phone constantly searches for your current location and open networks, which has a big impact on battery life.
Turn down the screen brightness. For example, on an iPhone 4 the lowest brightness setting gives roughly 6.5 hours of continuous use, whereas the highest setting gives roughly 3.5 hours. You can always adjust the brightness when you're outside so you can still see your screen clearly. Some devices have an auto-brightness setting, where the phone adjusts the screen brightness depending on the light around it.
Close your applications. On smartphones, returning to the ‘home' screen only minimises your apps – they keep running in the background. Closing your apps fully will save power; for example, on Samsung Galaxy devices hold down the home button for two seconds to see a list of all open apps. When I make phone calls people on the other end have difficulty hearing me. They describe as they can hardly hear me as if I was speaking through the pillow etc). I am not touching any buttons and obviously it is not mute. This was happening couple of time in June, then every now and then. Recently it happened a few time in 2 weeks. I was trying to check if it was a reception issue but the place I spoke from is my office I make 70% of phone calls from. Can you book time for me in repair shop and address the issue.

Connot get it to accept cookies; privacy settings are re-set each time after I change them. How can I get the privacy setting to stick and accept cookies?

I need to accept cookies to log into a technical site. I clear all cookies and the history and follow the instructions for setting privacy options to "Use custom settings for history" and to accept all cookies. When I go back to try logging into the site, it still tells me cookies aren't accepted. When I go back to Options-Privacy, the setting has been changed back to "Remember history" from "Use custom settings for history". I have done this about 5 times, trying various options, closing Firefox after making the change and starting it again - nothing works. How can I get the privacy settings to stay as I set them and accept cookies?

Blocking all cookies in Safari does not work. Deleted cookies will not stay deleted. There are numerous threads on this going back years, both in these forums and elsewhere. Many claim to have submitted the issue to Apple, but I have never seen anyone post a reply.
I have seen many suggested fixes that involve finding the cookies file, some including Terminal manipulations, and none seems to work universally. I can find noplace where Apple addresses this officially with an actual Apple-approved explanation or how-to.
Bottom line, your browser's security features should do what they claim: delete cookies. When they come back without ever even visiting another page, this is clearly not working in the way a reasonable user would expect.
Bottom line, Safari does not protect users' privacy in the way it pretends to and, after so many years of this issue, it appears that Apple wants it this way.
Having spent way too much time on this, I realize the choice is between Safari which is pretty well optimized; Firefox which is a lot pokier, at least for me; and Chrome, which I assume funnels personal information directly to Google.
