How can I get VoiceOver to read two languages correctly? in a dual-language book (English and Spanish)? I've used the <lang> tag, but VoiceOver doesn't switch from reading in English to Spanish. Both languages are selected in Settings. Does VoiceOver have this capability?

How can I cause the VO cursor(box) show-up/start?
Press Control-Option and F5. The F5 key is located on the top row of keys 6th key over. This is a toggling "Keyboard Shortcut" for turning VoiceOver on and off.
How can I move the VO cursor to various sentences or paragraphs of an article and have it start reading ... and perhaps even continue reading on to the next paragraph(s) ... even to the end of the article?
How to read a website with VoiceOver
Step 1: Go to the Website
A quick keyboard shortcut is Command-L. This will jump you up to the address bar. Start typing where you want to go. i.e "www.thewebsite.com"
Step 2: Working with Webpage
VoiceOver will automatically start reading the website. You can pause the speech by hitting the 'Control Button'.
If VoiceOver does not being reading the webpage, then you might have to "Interact" with it. If VoiceOver say "HTML Content" then press Control-Option-Space-Down Arrow to interact with the webpage.
Use Control-Option-Right Arrow to move throught the website. This will speak "EVERYTHING" on the page.
Most website that I've found have their articles labeled as 'Heading'. You can jump from heading to heading, by pressing Control-Option-Shift-H.
If you'd like an itemized alphabetical listing of the site, press Control-Option-I
Press Control-Option-Space on the link or article you want to view.
Step 3. Reading from Top to Bottom
Once you found and clicked on the the article/link, use the same 'Heading' command, Control-Option-Shift-H to find the title.
After finding the title, press Control-Option-A will start reading from the title on.
Note: If there are any other items (ads, pictures, etc) it will read those too.
Tip: You might be able to activate a feature called the 'Reader'. The Reader isolates the article and elimanates the ads The keyboard command is Shift-Command-R. You can also find it in the Menu Bar (Command-Option-M) under the word 'View' then 'Show Reader'.
I am using a MACPro with OSX, probably Mavericks 10.9 (where would I look to see if that is the correct information?)
You can find this information under the 'Apple menu' in the Menu Bar. To access the Menu Bar, press Control-Option-M.
Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac. This will open up another window. Use Control-Option-Right Arrow until you hear 'Version'. If you purchased it brand new from Apple within the last six month, more than likely you have Mavericks.

The 'Commands Help' Voiceover Menu. Control-Option-H-H. (hit H twice) is my best friend. It's a searchable VoiceOver Menu with most of the VoiceOver command. Example: You are looking for the 'Read Current Paragraph' keyboard command. Press Control-Option-H-H and then type Paragraph. It will then bring up all the commands with the word paragraph. iPhoto 08 would not read RAW files from that new a camera. You need to upgrade so you can get more up-to-date version of OS X and iPhoto. Another possiblity is see if iPhoto 11 will run on 10.5.8, if so you should update. You can also attempt to run Software Update and see if it finds a newer release of iPhoto 08 that supports newer RAW formats.

What do you mean by get out? You want to see the list? Clicking on the pair of glasses controls the display of the list. The glasses are in the gray bookmark bar. Click once to open and click again to close the reading list.

Make sure the discs are free of finger prints. The optical drive cannot read a disc with smudges and dust.
Check Finder > Preferences > General
Make sure: CDs, DVDs, and iPods, is selected.

It's exactly as I stated. Whenever I try to drag these kinds of loops (ESX24 / software instrument loops? the ones marked in green with the white music note next to them) from the loop browser into the timeline a message comes up saying Audio Not Found for that loop. And a new track is created automatically when loops are dragged into the timeline, so I'm not creating some other random / synth instrument track so I'm not sure what the deal is... But perhaps I'll try creating a software instrument track first and then drag the loop into that track and see what happens - maybe there's something with the default settings that automatically creates audio tracks whenever loops are imported?

If by locations you mean "authorized computers" then one of your computers (apparently the new laptop) may be using multiple authorizations.

Welcome to the Apple community Ross.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

It sounds like your audio cds are not being seen in iTunes when you insert them into your drive. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article about that very subject:

Verify Windows recognizes your optical drive
If Microsoft Windows recognized your optical drive, but doesn't recognize it now, follow the instructions in iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install.
Check for software updates
Microsoft or your computer's manufacturer may have released updated software. Check to see if there are updates to Windows or to the software that controls the drive. Check your computer manufacturer's website for updates, particularly for updates to the CD or DVD drive. If you bought the drive separately from the computer, check the drive manufacturer's website. In some cases, software drivers for other devices (such as video and sound cards) could affect how the CD or DVD drive works. Make sure your video and sound cards have the most current drivers.
Check for firmware updates
From time to time manufacturers publish updates to a CD or DVD drive's internal software (known as firmware). Check your computer manufacturer's website for firmware updates first. This is important because the internal drives used by some companies (including Dell) require special firmware. If an update is not available from the computer manufacturer, check with the company that made the drive. How can i get Mac to read a certain type of file?

i will cut to the chase
i have some files from a voice recorder on a WINDOWS pc
i stick a 512 mb flash drive in the windows pc's usb slot
now i got the files on the flash drive
i stick the flash drive into the Mac Minis Usb slot
it shows the files but cannot play them
How can i convert what is in the Flash drive to a Macintosh playable file
AND should i do it while the flash drive is in the Windows or the Mac mini computer
Side note: the software for the voice recorder is windows only
the website for the PC Recorder(sony) does not have Mac Software on it
so i want (hope / need) to go voice recorder->windows pc->Flash drive->Mac and then convert the file so Mac can read/ play it.

The simplest way is to use Switch/Swift Sound (if their site is up) or acWAVE(commercial software with a 7-day trial) - in Windows to convert the DVF files to mp3 or some other Mac-friendly format.

Assuming you mean Adobe Reader, you may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like

My test instrument is outputting a 5 line string but labview only read until the carriage return. how can I get it to read the whole string?

I have a labview sub-VI reading the string being outputted by a pH meter. The meter outputs a 5 line string and labview is only reading up to each lines carriage return, there-by giving me 5 separate strings is there anyway to rectify this and have the 5 line read as one string?

Yes, LabVIEW will automatically update. What happens is that the old serial functions still exist in 7.1 and above but the code (the block diagram) has been modified to use VISA functions. Older versions of LabVIEW are fully supported in this manner. The only way you can avoid the automatic update is to have the old serial functions in an llb and your top level VI refer to these. Having any VI that was part of vi.lib in an llb is a very bad idea and the way to fix things is to remove any VIs in the llb that are part of the LabVIEW distribution.
I don't remember how the old serial config worked and what the new version does with the VISA Configure Serial Port. Your program should only have a single serial config and you might just be able to directly replace that with the VISA configure Serial Port.

Try logging on to https://exportpdf.adobe.com/. See if it asks for date of birth, if so, fill it in. For some people (bizarrely) this fixes it.
