How can I give iTunes-added mp3's in my music ("unknown album") a background?

Coming from an iPod Touch 4th Gen to a 5th gen, there was really only one thing that I didn't like, and that was how my music (I add it from mp3 files using iTunes) has no background.
Sure, the 4th gen on iOS 6.1.6 only had a music icon as the background, but this lack of any type of background that I see when playing a song on iOS 8 really is kinda distracting.
Is there anyway for me to give the Music app (system app) a makeover so it has some kind of background when I'm playing music?
iPod Touch 5th Generation, 16gb, iOS 8.1

Hey Subscriber0101, What happens if you go into your iTunes library and right click the music in question to bring up the pop up menu, then go to "Get Info" click "Edit Items". Then plug in the Artist names, Album name, etc. and add the Album artwork. When your done, save and close the Get Info, then sync your iPod with your iTunes library. Good luck. Cheers.

  • How can I get Itunes to recognize all of my music

I've gotten a new computer and have put all of my music stored on an external drive. I have downloaded itunes, changed the directory to find music to the external drive with my music but it still only chooses some songs. Help, please.

    Morning, rozlee.
Getting our music succesfully from one computer to our new computer is always one of those things we just want to have done. I was able to find the following article which reviews what file formats are compatible with iTunes specifically.
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1473#2
Compare your file formats to the information under "Adding Content on your computer to iTunes":
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
Hope this information serves to be useful. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to find answers to your questions.

  • How can I stop iTunes adding apps I've deleted onto my phone?

I have an iPhone 4 which is fully updated and I'm using iTunes 10.4.0.80 (although this has been a problem with previous versions as well) on Windows 7.
When I try to sync my phone to my computer it tries to install all the apps I've installed and deleted from my phone since I last synced. I've only got a 16GB phone and I tend to install and delete apps regularly, so this fills up any available space and prevents me from syncing what I wanted to sync to my phone in the first place. The check box for "automatically sync new apps" is unchecked. I can (and at the moment, I have to) go through the list and uncheck every app that iTunes has checked for me, but with over 1000 apps backed up on my iTunes this is extremely tedious, and given that iTunes runs extremely slowly on my computer it often takes me more than 4 hours to do. It is slightly quicker to uncheck and recheck sync apps, then manually add back all the apps I want to keep, but I still have to (still extremely slowly) scroll through the list to add back in the same set of apps each time. Even if I could use the phone display on the right hand side of the screen to delete the new apps it would be easier, but no matter what I do to the display, if I don't uncheck them in the list they just get added back on again anyway.
Is there a way around this or am I stuck devoting hours to syncing my phone every time I want to move stuff between my computer and my phone?

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • How can I stop iTunes from losing or deleting MY music?

I have a large CD collection. I have downloaded them to iTunes over a period of years. When I go looking for a particular song, it is often missing. I have been checking my iTunes library lately and much of the music I downloaded from MY CD collection is missing. Why does iTunes lose or delete music I have legally purchased. NOTE: I don't burn a lot of CDs. I have half a dozen playlists for CDs I have burned one time for my personal use. I have one playlist for my iPod and one for the music on my phone. Is this causing a problem? What is going on?

That's odd.  I have been using iTunes since before it was even iTunes (Soundjam) and I lose a file about once a year. Even then I can't say it wasn't something I did. Based on the information we have I would say it is anything from clumsy fingers to serious hard drive corruption.  Despite many conspiracy theory posts to the contrary I have a hard time believing Apple programmers spliced in code to randomly select a non-Store track to delete at set intervals.
First, is the actual media file gone, or is it only the track entry in iTunes which in reality is nothing more than a pointer to a media file?  Look in you iTunes Folder > Media etc.

  • How can I keep Itunes from wanting to put my music cd in the compilations folder.  Even a 2 disc set sometimes itunes will place one cd in a folder of the name of the band and the other disc in the compilations folder under the name of the cd

Two issues.  The first one is that when I upload some music cd's into my itunes library, itunes wants to place the songs in a compilations folder.  Sometimes this occurs even with a 2 or 3 cd set.  One CD will be filed under the artists name and the disc 2 may be filed in the compilations folder and listed by the name of the cd and not the artist.
2nd issue is that sometimes cd's are similiar, but with different artists such as 20th century Hits of Neil Young.  The CD is filed in the compilations folder.  Than I upload the 20th century Hits of Tanya Tucker and the songs go into the same folder with Neil Young.  The don't even mix as one is county and the other is rock.
I have moved these CD's out of the compilations folder and moved them in with the other cd's by the same artist, but Itunes keeps moving them back into the compilations folder.
    Is there a fix

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.
For compilations that aren't, select all tracks, Get Info, and on the option tab set Part of a Compilation to No. If it already says No tick the box alongside, then click OK.

  • How can I make itunes detect new music added to Music folder

How can I setup itunes to automatically detect new music added to my music folder? Under the advanced setting I currently have Itunes set to view my music folder where all my music is located. Im using Windows 7, Itunes Version 10.4.1.10. Currently I have to add new music manually and that's *****. I have over 2000 cd's that I need to rip. Please help. Thanks

If you are ripping CDs, you can rip with iTunes and the tracks will be added to your iTunes library without manual intervention.
But if you already have the files, or are using something other than iTunes to rip, you will note that iTunes does not automatically detect when new files have been placed in a folder.  You can add this capability by using a 3rd party program such as iTunes Folder Watch.

  • Itunes and proxy settings. Itunes keeps the proxy setting from IE and I can't adapt it due to company policy. How can I force itunes to use firefox?

itunes can not connect to server and I can't find its proxy settings.
So I think it uses these from IE and those are blocked by company policy.
So, how can I force itunes to use the firefox settings

I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file.   This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings.  Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus.   That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.
Good luck!  The tech support person at Apple is requesting that a knowlege-base article be written about this.

Really? I need to check that out!
You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

  • How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?

To be absolutely honest, I don't really understand what this box is for, so I shall just use it to repeat and expand on my question. (I have already sent a "Feedback" comment on the same topic).
How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?
It seems to me that there is something very basic wrong with the way iTunes handles CD Tracks.
Professionally produced CD tracks are seldom if ever in a randomised order. Why then does iTunes seem unable to display the tracks in the order they appear on the original CD source - whether from a personally owned CD or from a download from the iTunes Store?
Some music demands a specific, non-alphabetic sequence in order to make sense. Why does it seem that iTunes only offers Alphabetic, or reverse alphabetic order - both of which make a nonsense of the original, often intended order of tracks?
Why not replace the so-called "cover-art" in the bottom left hand corner if the iTunes window - which, while it may look attractive to some, gives the barest of information concerning the original disc, with a list of the original CD tracks in their original order, so that the user can easily reestablish the order in which they should be played.
As I would expect legibility might be a problem with doing this, why could not the original contents, (in their original order), at least, be displayed when the "cover art" is double clicked-on - the result of which at present gives me an enlarged version of the "Cover Art". While on the subject of the contents of the source disc, what about all the album notes which someone takes trouble to write in order to increase the appreciation of the music on the CD and the listener's general background knowledge of the artists involved. Such notes, it seems to me, have considerable intrinsic value in their own account. I would, I think, normally be prepared to buy such "Sleeve notes" - so long as a "taster" was supplied (as it is for the music) - for something like the cost of a single 'Tune" on iTunes.
These two aspects let Apple iTunes down enormously, in my opinion. I think that by chopping even quite protracted sequences of music up into bits does no one any favours - except perhaps Apple's already quite substantial bank balance. People have to be aware that two and a half, to three and a half minutes is a very short time to develop a piece of worthwhile music, and that there are many, many composers, not all of whom are alive today who have written music that huge masses of mankind value for the enrichment of their lives and the human condition in general.
Please make the viewing of iTunes tracks in their correct order by default possible. By all means have the alphabetical variations available as offering a different approach to the music, but not the sole approach to it - PLEASE.
    Frustratedly yours
    Alan Whitaker
PS I work at my old 24" iMac Intel Core 2 machine which runs OS "Tiger" - because it is more beautiful to look at, the screen is more pleasant to work on, and because, in some ways it is more capable (it will run FreeHand MX without needing a "patch"), than my more recent 21.5" which runs "Snow Leopard". (I don't find it that much slower, either).

    Dear Mike
Thanks for the support. I am utterly amazed that after all the hype about how good iTunes is that it cannot play a downloaded CD in the correct order, and that what that order should be is not available directly from within one's own iTunes installation. (I know that one can go back to the iTunes Store to check what the order should be, but having downloaded the tracks surely iTunes is clever enough to retrieve this important information.
My iTunes to differ from yours in that I have also noticed that it seems unable to download copies of my "talking books" in the correct order either. But in my case it downloads them - from a CD - in order, but with the first track downloaded first - so that it appears at the bottom of the column of tracks so that it would get played last! (At least this is, while being inexplicable, a relatively "logical" bit of blundering and because of this is relatively easy to put right!).
I like many genres of music, some of which are not really programmed except perhaps by the artist performing them. I know that Frank Sinatra was very careful to programme his album songs to obtain a particular effect and in relation to the keys of the music. iTunes presumes to know better.
Film scores may be totally randomly put together, in some cases, but in others the order is vital to one's appreciation of the music as a whole and how it relates to the plot of the film.
In symphonic music most works are divided into sections and are conceived by the composer that way. Some individual sections may gain a life of their own if played separately, but they are never complete in the sense that the composer envisaged them without being placed in their proper context.
Opera and probably most choral music too, is similar except that the words may well become meaningless if the order is changed at the whim of a piece of ill-written computer code, while ballet music has to be heard totally within its sequential context or it becomes meaningless.
Finally, I would venture that iTunes, by jumbling up the order of the tracks as recorded on a CD, does an immense disservice, not only to the music on a particular CD, but to music in general, by expressing everything in terms of "Songs" - which it seems to interpret as stand-alone items of between 2 and 4 minutes whatever the genre. Even the way the iTunes publicity speaks of how many "songs" it can store instead of how many minutes or hours of recorded sound. This has to be another brick in the wall of "dumming-down" of people's expectations, and the shortening of their attention spans.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel betrayed by Apple over this. Perhaps the look, feel and general presentation of an item are not the most desirable features of a consumer product. Maybe it should be judged more on it fitness for the purpose for which it was sold. There is one other possibility - that Apple are trying to redefine "Music" - and that everything that lasts longer than about 3.5 minutes or is in the form of what could for want of a better term be called symphonic in the broadest sense is something else - not "Music" within Apple's new definition, at all!
Well that's off my chest! now I can get down to creating some sort of order in my iTunes Libraries, knowing that I have to reconsult all the sources in order to confirm the source playing order.
Anyway thanks again. At least I know that it is not just me

Sorry, Itunes is not giving me that dialog. Lemme tell you, it did give me a related dialog earlier today when my La Cie was not connected. Apparently it defaulted back to the Pioneer at that time. I have since reconnected the La Cie, and the system is seeing it, however Itunes won't offer me the option to burn to the La Cie. It just burns to the Pioneer, then gives me an error saying it can't burn the CD.
