    I think that the number of clicks to open a file is a rather shortsighted way to compare two operating systems.<<</div>
    Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse ME!
    I happen to think it's a pain to click twice on files when I'm used to clicking just once.
    But Tiger is a nice operating system. I enjoy that it has much more capabilities than the OS9. I mean, Tiger keeps up with the advancing internet. My beef is really against OS9. I can open OS9 in Tiger but not Tiger in OS9.

    A blank drive needs to be formatted first, you do that hold c boot (or hold option key boot) from the 10.6 install disk (or Lion USB)

    Is this about Firefox on a desktop computer as your user agent would suggest (the thread is tagged as Firefox OS)?
    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
    *Firefox menu button > Options
    *View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the hidden Menu bar)
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
    Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
    *check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    *if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
    *if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar

  • How do I add text and edit my PDF file?

    how do i add text and edit my pdf file

    Hi pilothorse,
    To edit a PDF file you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

  • How can I change the size of a pdf source file, or, convert it to Word?

    How can I change the size of a pdf source file, or, convert it to Word?

    A lot depends on the form of the PDF. Is it graphics, a scan of a text file, pure text, or other? What version of Acrobat are you working with.
    You can do a save as to get a WORD file, but do not expect great results. The ability to get a decent WORD file depends on what the form of PDF you are working from. If it was created from WORD with tags and all, you might get good results. If not, you might get a lot of messed up results.
    Explain what you are starting with and your ultimate goal. Also check the audit of the file (should be under PDF Optimize) to see where the file information is concentrated (text, fonts, graphics, other).

  • How can I create prefilled and editable PDF's on a Linux server with PHP?

    I can create PDF's with editable form fields (extended features?) and serve those to our users and I can pre-fill form fields with data from the database using FDF, but then the PDF throws an error and the end user can't fill out the remaining fields (in Reader, it still works in Pro).
    I've tried 2 open source approaches already, but the end result is either a fillable form or a pre-filled form. I can't seem to do both at the same time.
    I've looked around adobe.com and frankly there's just so much stuff there that isn't even applicable it's staggering. I am completely lost and resorting to asking a question on a forum. I've searched these forms (and others), but anything related to this problem have no answers. I'm sure there's a way to do it.
    If I try to set the PDF to fetch the FDF using a http post/submit (can I get it to do that when it loads?) I would still have to get an id number into the query string or object on a per document basis (some how?) and that means editing the PDF server side which breaks the structure which then throws the error on the client side and I'm right back at the beginning again.
    At this point, it looks like it's going to take less time to simply create the form in HTML with a unique CSS file for the print version using a PNG for visual elements instead of a PDF. Not a great way to go for printing, but it would only take a day to set up. The time to create new forms is the issue. I don't want to spend 8 hours creating new HTML forms when I can do a PDF in 2 hours. Is it more efficient to go with an Adobe solution or roll my own HTML version?
    All I want to do is help the users save some time by pre-filing part of the form so they can print it.
    Any advice?

    Ok, I hope someone can move this to the Adobe Reader for Android forum, where you will find the experts you need.

  • How can I see, use and edit contacts on PC without...

    Now I finally worked out how to sync my contacts to my N95 8G (see earlier posts), I would like to use this data, plus the calendar data on a daily basis on my PC and update it where necessary, before finally synching back to the N95 at the end of the day.
    Has anybody any ideas how this can be done ?
    With my old Palm-based system I would use the Palm desktop but the PCSuite (v. 7.0) doesn't seem to offer this functionality.
    Now the contct and calendar data must be copied there on the PC as I've performed a back-up via the Suite, but how do I get to see and edit this data (or a copy thereof) on the PC ?
    If Nokia can't be bothered to work out how to do this, has anybody come across any third party vendors who have ?

    Hi - sorry for the tardy response.
    When I saw that my Palm device was fading rapidly and that it was no longer supported by upgrades to new versions of Windows (a Sony Clie of 2002 vintage that I used for everything bar phone calls), I backed up my palm desktop contacts, calendar etc. to my Yahoo account with no problems.
    My other posts on this forum described my frustration at not being able to simply export a file back out of Yahoo that the N95 would understand, without losing bits of the contacts (e.g. all the telephone numbers). In the end I had to go via Outlook - my other post (copied below) describes how I did it.
    The approach is not perfect and I intend it to be a once only thing. I will still suffer the hassle of entering new contacts into both my N95 and my online address book as the Nokia PC Suite does not appear to accurately read csv files created by Yahoo.
    My poor user experience with N95 will make me think seriously about going back to a Palm-based / Blackberry device when upgrade time comes around again.
    1: Open Outlook and back up the existing contacts (that you wish to keep separate from your N95 contacts) by exporting them to the desktop in a .pst - "outlook.pst"
    2: Once they are backed up to Outlook.pst, select all these contacts in Outlook and delete
    3: In Yahoo, export all contacts to an Outlook format .csv file (note, Yahoo offers different .csv formats) - "Personal.csv"
    4: In Outlook, import the new Personal.csv file you have created. Check contacts. Delete duplicates, and check/update errors (i.e. use Outlook like the PIM that PC Suite ought to be and isn't !).
    5: In Nokia PC Suite, use the Synchronise function to synchronise the N95 with Outlook
    6: Select all personal contacts in Outlook that you just imported via persoanl.csv, delete them to clean out Outlook.
    7: Re-import the Outlook.pst file you originally created above to restore your original (work?) outlook contacts.
    Thanks for taking the time to share "our" frustrations. As you've indicated, after enjoying the ease of managing Palm data both on the device and on the desktop, the Nokia N95 simply falls flat on its face (despite the shopkeeper's assurance it was far and above better). I have found that at least the generic PC Suite has a means to view the calendar and contacts on the desktop provided the phone is hooked up by USB. I still had to manually enter everything onto the phone to get it all as I want it, and have decided to only put the stuff I truly need to have with me at all times. I also tried to download an MP3 program but it won't accept the format (and I thought Sony had the wrap on exclusivity!?). When Nokia or another company comes up with a truly do-it-all-right format, I'll be first in line. Meantime, I will take my Palm on trips, and will tuck the MP3 player in a side pocket. This was an expensive mistake that I won't make again.

  • HELP! How can I switch back and forth from LT to FCE to sync sound?

    I'm using LT 1.2.1 and FCE 3.0. I haven't used it for 2 or 3 years, but people in this forum have been amazing at helping me get an old project working again.
    Here's my latest question. I swore back then there was a way to move back and forth between LT and FCP so I wouldn't have to render my LT files each time I wanted to drop it into FCP.
    Here's what I'm doing:
    I've created an entire "movie" in LT that now needs to be fine-tuned to be sync'd up with a professional voiceover, which is why I'm using FCP. The only way I can figure out how to make sure the LT file is going to be sync'd with the audio is to render the movie in LT, import it into FCE, see if the audio works with it, if not, I go back to LT, move things around, then re-render, import into FCE, and hope it all sync's.
    I think there was an easier way to go back and forth between the two.
    Along the same lines, is there a way to get the audio from FCE (or some sort of a representation) into LT? The LT file must be adapted to the audio, and if I could "see" the audio in LT, it would be infinitely easier.
    Thanks!
    Bob

    LiveType does not support any kind of audio, Bob.
    Go through your movie in the FC Timeline and set markers at the relevant cue points by pressing M.
    Pressing M a second time whilst sitting on the marker, will open a dialog where you can type a suitable description in the name field. Keep the description short -it might help to take notes too.
    Export a copy of the movie (including markers) and bring it into LiveType with File > Place background Movie. The markers will show up at the top of the LT timeline, with their descriptions.
    Delete the background from LiveType when you have everything lined up. Save your LT project file and import it into FCE. You can use the project file exactly like a video clip.
    If you need to go back to LiveType for changes, right click the LT file in FCE's Timeline. Choose "Open in Editor". This will open the project in LT. Make changes, save the file and it will update in FCE.

  • How can I get back to editing in Design view?

    I can't edit my web pages in Design view. When I DON'T have Live View on, nor Live Code, I only get a cursor shaped like a NO circle and I cannot click on anything to edit it. I can only make changes in the code window.
    What can I do to restore editablilty in Design view?

    Sorry this has taken so long. I have been trying a few things. One is the fact my template my pages are all based on has an editable region, which is where the uneditable are is within.. Other editable areas in the template are available for me to click into and edit, but not the main area.
    I tried moving the main div inside the editable region, but then, although it is now editable, the main div gets wiped away when the site pages get updated. So then I am forced to go back to the previous situation.

    1. The space between the mainContent and sidebar1 is created with the left margin on the mainContent div.  No matter how much content the sidebar1 div contains, the column space will remain. You can remove this left margin if you want the #mainContent div's text to fill the #sidebar1 space when the content in #sidebar1 ends.
    2. Be aware it is possible to cause float drop (the dropping of the non-floated mainContent area below the sidebar) if an element wider than it can contain is placed within the mainContent div. WIth a hybrid layout (percentage-based overall width with em-based sidebar), it may not be possible to calculate the exact width available. If the user's text size is larger than average, you will have a wider sidebar div and thus, less room in the mainContent div. You should be aware of this limitation - especially if the client is adding content with Contribute.
    3. In the Internet Explorer Conditional Comment below, the zoom property is used to give the mainContent "hasLayout." This may help avoid several IE-specific bugs.
    /* Miscellaneous classes for reuse */
    .fltrt { /* this class can be used to float an element right in your page. The floated element must precede the element it should be next to on the page. */
              float: right;
              margin-left: 8px;
    .fltlft { /* this class can be used to float an element left in your page */
              float: left;
              margin-right: 8px;
              azimuth:center-left
    .clearfloat { /* this class should be placed on a div or break element and should be the final element before the close of a container that should fully contain a float */
              clear:both;
        height:0;
        font-size: 1px;
        line-height: 0px;
    [if IE]>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */
    #navbar, #header, #mainContent, #container, navbuttonlineup, #centercore, #leftside, #rightside, #adspace, #mainblurb, #pictscolumn {zoom: 1;}
    #header {
              top:0px;
              position:absolute;
    /* the above proprietary zoom property gives IE the hasLayout it needs to avoid several bugs */
    </style>
    <![endif]
    If you have any solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

  • How can I go back and forward on a webbrowser using trackpad?

    Hello
    I upgraded my os with Lion.
    in the fore version, I could use three fingers to go back and forware on the webbrowser,
    but now I can't.
    I can't find any options in any pages.
    I think that was very useful..
    How can I do it again?

    Hi Hyok:
    Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures and make sure you have "Swipe between pages" checked. You can set it for 2 or 3 fingers or 3 fingers only.
    The other thing to keep in mind is that, in Lion, the swipe direction will be reversed from Snow Leopard. In other words, to swipe back a page in Safari, you will need to swipe towards the right instead of the left. This mimics the finger movements of the iPad and is more true to what you would do if the page was a physical object and you were moving it out of the way. It could be that you already have this box checked but aren't swiping the right direction to go backwards.
    I highly recommend giving this new swiping technique a chance, as I have found it an improvement over the old way. It took me about a week to get used to it. If you try it and really don't like it, you can go to the "Scroll and Zoom" tab in Trackpad preferences and deselect "Scroll direction: Natural".
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I toggle back and forth from a main pdf to its attachments?

    I have a main document that I created in word and inserted hypertext to either link to 1) websites 2) a series of appendices, 3) 6 large format pdf maps or 3) a series of reference documents.
    In Word, I have everything in a thumbdrive directory with the main file and three folders holding the individual files of the maps, appendices and references. All the links work but the file can't be copied to another drive without redoing all the links to the files (there are about 40 files all together).
    I saved the word main document as a pdf. All the auxiliary files are also pdfs. All the weblinks came through in the pdf of the main document but the links to files need to be re-established.
    1. I tried to create an acrobat portfolio with the main file and the folders of maps, references and appendices but I can't seem to make links in the main document to open up specific files in the folders.
    2. I compiled all the files together into a binder and tried to use bookmarks to link the main part of the document to the first page of the 40 supporting files but at 700 pages the document is just too cumbersome to recreate the ~100 bookmarks I would need to add.
    3. I tried adding everything as attachments and created links but once the link is activated from the main document and the new window opens, the main document has closed up. I need the reader to be able to toggle back and forth between the screen with the main document and the supporting documents.
    What I am trying to create is one main document with links to the maps, appendices and references that will open a new window when each link is activated. Then the new window can be closed and the reader is back at the screen of the main document on the page with the link they just used.
    This doesn't seem to me like it should be difficult since it almost works in Word except for the file structure.
    I would really appreciate any guidance on how to make this work. The document and supporting files have already taken more than a year to put together and I'm stuck at this last step.
