How can I go back to firefox 22?

Firefox updated itself to 23 a week ago and I can't take it anymore. Crashing, BSODs, only when I'm browsing and only in FF - IE is fine but I hate IE.
I've read some in the support forums and I don't want to deactivate flash, hw acceleration... I shouldn't have to alter my default HW settings to make it so a browser doesn't crash my PC
It always ran fine on 22. So how can I just go back to 22 and NOT have firefox update itself without asking me?
heh... it's happened so often that now, when my screen starts flashing on & off (the sign of an impending BSOD), I ctrl+alt+del to start task manager as fast as I can and kill firefox. Only way to prevent a BSOD.

For now you can revert back to fx 22, but also consider that firefox is updating to firefox 23.0.1 that fixes many crashes.

After opening Firefox, I was always able to in & out of it till I shut down my computer. Now, after opening Firefox, I go to another application then back to Firefox, I have to "Quit" Firefox and reopen. How can eliminate the back & forth of starting & quitting Firefox before I shutdown my computer?

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. • I use Webcourses for school and it does not support Firefox 4 or higher, how can I go back to Firefox 3.6 (windows 7) ?

I do online classes and the web portal for the school (UCF) does not support any firefox version higher than Firefox 3.6.
I get thrown out of the portal at various times and it is really making things difficult.
How do I go back to firefox 3.6 from firefox 4.01 in windows 7?

Install Firefox Portable 3.6.20 to your hard drive for that website. <br />
    http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36
It won't affect your current Firefox installation, which you should update to Firefox 6.0 - you are missing a bunch of important security fixes by being two versions behind the latest. 3.6.20 doe have all those fixes.

  • All I get in the menu bar when I open Firefox IS "Firefox"--no bookmarks, no nothing. How canI get bookmarks back and Firefox functioning.

I have used Firefox forever. (I also use Thunderbird.) When I opened Firefox all I get now in the menu bar is the word "Firefox" with the "About Firefox," "Preferences," etc. list. Nothing else. I cannot open Firefox and I cannot quit it, either. I can do nothing with it at all. How can I get it back. I need my hundreds of bookmarks.
    I use a MAC with Lion 10.7.5

  • How can I go back to Firefox 5, the 6 update is terrible, constantly get 'not responding' when navigating.

I want to know if I can go back to Firefox vs 5 until vs 7 comes out? I am constantly getting 'not responding' from the browser when navigating through tabs and sites. (ie. if on say facebook, after maybe writing a comment or viewing a picture, I'll click on a second picture or other comment and I have to wait for the browser to 'respond'. This happens on multiple sites and multiple tabs.
I thought it was my internet connection at first but after trying Chrome and explorer browsers I do not have this issue.
It is really irritating and annoying. I did not have this issue with vs 5.

Have you tried the steps at [http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7#faq_firefox http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7#faq_firefox] ?
Firefox 5 is not recommended for security reasons, but if you don't want 6.0 you can try 3.6.x: [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]

  • How can I downgrade back to Firefox 3.6 because 4.0 won't run on my version of OSX?

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 & installed it on my MacBook running OSX.4.11 but when I tried to run it I got an error saying it was not compatible with my version of OSX.
So if I can't open Firefox I lose all my bookmarks....
How can I downgrade to the version I was running before I upgraded & replaced all the files with version 4? I think this was 3.6 as I do upgrade regularly.
    Thanks!

You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
When you re-install Firefox 3.6 it will use your existing bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

Extensions for Firefox, such as the Google Toolbar, include a list of compatible Firefox versions. Currently, the Google Toolbar only goes up to Firefox 4. However, people have tested and it actually works on Firefox 5, so there are two workarounds:
    (1) Edit a file to revise the range of compatible versions
    (2) Install an add-on that lets you ignore the range of compatible versions
This thread has info on both approaches: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/837142 google toolbar does not work with firefox 5.0. why not! | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].
    Any luck?
Oh, and due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.

  • How can I go back to firefox 3.0

I want to go back to firefox 3.0. Ever since they upgraded my computer its awful ...So slow I can't use it. My mouse hesitates and clicks on things I'm not pointing to.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== as soon as they upgraded to 3.6

If you updated firefox automatically, try updating Firefox manually by reinstalling Firefox from http://www.getfirefox.com

  • How can I go back to Firefox 3.6. I can only find the 4.0 upgrade and I need some of old add ons that are not available on 4.0 plus can't seem to post to Craiglist. I keeps crashing.

When I look for 3.6.6 or only the 4.0 upgrade comes up. I thought I could downgrade.

I had the same problem (issue with Google Apps and XUL runner etc) of needing to downgrade. To pull it off I went to the main Firefox download page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/) and followed the link to OTHER SYSTEMS AND LANGUAGES which took me to a page that included a link on the right hand side to download Firefox 3.6.16.
(The stuff below pertains to Windows. If you are on a different OS your steps will vary)
To do the actual downgrade (and there may be some other steps that would be wise to take but this is what worked for me) I merely renamed "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" to "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox bad" (in case I want to try troubleshooting the issue later) and then ran the "Firefox Setup 3.6.16.exe" file that downloaded from that link. That solved my problem and I'm back and running 3.6.16.
In case you don't feel comfortable changing things in your Program Files directory you might try a different approach and try uninstalling via the Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs (or whatever it is called on the version of Windows you are on) and then running the installation file. I didn't go that route so I can't tell you how well that might work.

  • I start firefox but I just get google page. How can I get back to firefox?

I open firefox but it always gives me the google home page instead of firefox. the top left box says google. It used to say firefox and options if I clicked on it ,like printing an on line page etc.

Starting in Firefox 4, the home page changed to '''about:home''' but it is pretty easy to change. To set it back, you can use the Options dialog, General tab. • How can I go back to firefox 4

I've lost fireftp and norton safe identity with Firefox 5 - that cripples my use of the browser. I want to return to Firefox 4 until such time that these can be accommodated. Therefore, I want to go back to using Firefox 4.

FireFTP is compatible with Firefox 5.0 and Norton had an update available for Firefox 5.0 on 06-21 when Firefox 5.0 was released.

  • Hi, just installed firefox 4. How can I get back to firefox 3. Peter.

I simply don't like the new version and would rather be using the older version.

Firefox is highly customizable. For example you can make it look and behave more like Firefox 3.6 as shown here - http://redherring2.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/firefox-4-restoring-firefox-3-ui
Is there anything in particular you don't like, somebody may be able to help you customize Firefox 4 to meet your needs.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6.* you can uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • How can I go back to FireFox 35?

I cannot customize anything but the Bookmark Bar, and none of those customizations make any sense. I cannot add a Home icon or New Tab icon in front of the address box--I used these all the time and do not want to do without them.
I was not able to add my favorite search engine by following the directions on the Help page.
Is there a way to downgrade back to my last version of Firefox with all my settings intact?
    The rest is /rant.
I know I have the flu and am a bit cranky, but putting a button there that says 'Refresh Firefox' (when you should have said "Install new Firefox with weird settings without existing features") was not very clear. I thought it was just a check to see if all the parts of Firefox were present and uncorrupted. That's what refresh means.
Also, being greeted by "Firefox Certificate Store Hotfix nnnnnnnnnn.n (disabled)" without any means of enabling it was problematic at best. Kind of like having found out a gorilla packed your parachute. After considerable time searching it seems that it doesn't work with 36? Why didn't it just say that? Security features mysteriously disabled is suspicious, as in something malware would do.
You guys and gals are great, but give a guy warning. Thanks for Firefox.
