How can I have iTunes find its newly converted mp3 files?

Hi,
I am not a power user. I have a playlist that is apparently composed of different file formats. So when I tried to burn them to a CD it gave me 92 songs that could not be burned as an mp3. I then chose to convert them to mp3. It apparently did it because I looked for the files in finder and saw the mp3 versions.
How can I now have iTunes use THOSE new mp3 files for burning? There must be a simple way to do that.

Is there any way to list them by "type"? I made the playlist from several playlists and I am sure that some of the offending songs are from several of those playlists.
I tried tricking iTunes into writing them onto a cd by just dumping the new MP3 duplicates into the same list and then telling it to burn. I then expected it to tell me the same 92 songs could not be written and planned to just tell it to skip those since now had them in as MP3s but it is now telling me that it will require more than one CD. Is that because the files are now bigger or because it is counting the 92 files that it will not be writing anyway?

Is there a way i can get itunes to change the actual mp3 files so that it has the right artist names and arwork after editing it on the libery. as atm all the mp3 files are have missing iformation and when i send a file to my mp3 player it does not have track names or artwork? i tried doing the concert ID3 tag but did not seem to make a difference and after ive done get info and edited it. it does not seem to change the mp3 files.

iTunes 10 how can I have iTunes recognise an external harddrive, where all my music is already. I did the option, selecting extenal HD but some reason the iTunes does not alow me to select the .xml file (grayed out)

Use Migration Assistant in the Utitiies folder to return the deleted user account back to the machine, I don't know exactly how to go about this as I don't use TimeMachine as it's so limiting, but Pondini can help

You might have to create the account with the same name, but I don't know if it will access the user files on the TM drive or not.
Once the account is back onto the machine you can log into it and transfer files between accounts on the same machine using the Finder > Go to Computer > Macintosh HD > Users > other account > Public > DropBox and drop files/folders in there, the permissions will change to the other user and the files/folders will be there when you log into the other user account.
Next time consider bootable clones, you can access them directly and even boot directly from them, update them when your ready and make as many as you need, create clones from clones even.

Google "TuneUp" it should be the first result. TuneUp is a paid application though, there's another application called MusicBraiz which is free, but this one is a little complicated I think. Hope that helps

Move the library to the external drive in its entirety.
Then in Perferences > Advanced for iTunes in the box labelediTunes Media foler location point iTunes to the location of the library on the external drive.

I have placed my iTunes library in /Users/Shared/iTunes along with iTunes Music Library.XML
When I open iTunes, all the music is displayed correctly with playcounts etc...
The problem is, when a playcount or album info is updated it does not carry over to the other user on the same computer. The same with adding new files to the iTunes library...
How can I get iTunes to auto-update between users?

How can I embed all my artwork to my mp3 files?

I have just spent several days organizing all my music. This included manually adding artwork to all the albums iTunes couldn't find artwork for. This was painstaking and incredibly tedious but I finally finished ... only to find out that it hasn't actually been imbedded. When I tried importing my iTunes media folder to a different account on my computer, most of the artwork was gone!
It's still all there on my account, but whenever I open itunes on another windows account in this computer, most of the artwork is gone. I'm guessing all the album artwork I added is being stored in the album artwork folder and was not embedded in the files. How can I force iTunes to embed ALL of the artwork to the files. I want to be able to just click a button and let iTunes take care of it, not click each album manually to do it (I've had enough of that). I tried using teridons itunes script but it only works for older versions of iTunes. I'm using iTunes 11.

The tracks you've manually added artwork to ought to have it embeded. It is art obtained automatically from the store that doesn't get embedded. iTunes doesn't use art stored locally in the media folder, if you have any of that it has most likely been created by Windows Media Player.
My script CreateFolderArt can be used to embed art in any track that will take it. Use only if your songs are in proper Artist & Album folders. Unlike Teridon's script (which should still work if you remove the test for iTunes 7 and don't have too many playlists!) mine assumes each folder only contains tracks from one album and saves the artwork as Folder.jpg.

How can I have the permission to modified my windows files from OSX?

I've had installed the Windows OS on my macbook pro and I want to modified some files on the windows 7 folder from the OSX . I can do some operation like copying the file from the windows user folder and paste it on the Macintosh partition hardisk, but i can't delete or paste the file from/into it. The same thing happened when i'm running the Windows 7 OS and i can't modified the files on the OSX folders. How can i fix this? Seems like i should make a master account that can access any kind of files from any OS, but i don't know how? tq

You'll need ad Add-On peice of software. I donm't remember the names but a Google search for "access NTFS volume for OS X" should turn them up and "Access Mac extended format from Windows" should turn up the ones for Windows.

How can I make itunes find my library?

I foolishly moved my music library from my PC to an external hard-drive (deleting the old library) and now iTunes can't find the new library. I know I can just re-import all my songs (I have more than 20000 songs) but I don't wan't to lose the ratings / playlists that I have given these songs. I can still see these ratings/playlists in iTunes but when I click on them, iTunes 11 can't locate the actual song. I can locate the song for iTunes but I seem to have to do this for each individual song. This situation may well be beyond rescue but I wanted to ask before I made the matter any worse. Help!

If you moved the entire iTunes folder structure intact, then you should be able to hold down the shift key while starting iTunes, then select "Choose Library" on the pop-up window, then navigate to where the "iTunes Library.itl" file was moved to and select it. iTunes should now open from the new location.

I import on the finder'S macbook pro all the library ( many gigabyte in AIFF version). I open Itunes, add to library the folder, on preference i set Apple lessloss, but itunes import AIFF version.
If i converte on itunes the files, i find all the two version: AIFF and Apple lessloss. I cannot remove manually all the file AIFF....
Duplicate files is impossible to remove with 11 version...

Select 'Songs' then 'List'. Click on the top of the 'Kind' column to sort by type of file, thus bringing all the AIFF files together. (If you don't have a 'Kind' column, enable it in View>View Options).
Click on the top AIFF file in the list, then shift click on the bottom one to select them all. Hit the delete key. At the prompt, be sure to choose to move them to the Trash or they will disappear from the list but remain in the actual Library in the Finder.

How can I have iTunes quit changing what I put in for my zip code

My credit card only accepts five numbes. When I put my zip code into iTunes it add the other four. That does not match what my bank has and it tells me that I have to enter my security code. This has been going on for five days. Apple Tech Support has quit responding to my emails.

I think even using Get Info may not reveal the change, though it is possible the behaviour has altered since I last tested it. Playing or updating the tracks location in a script such as UpdateTagInfo seems to get iTunes to re-evaluate the tag.
Assuming WMP is involved it may be best to make the necessary settings adjustments to prevent further changes, use the script to get all of the background changes exposed within iTunes, then correct as you see fit. Alternatively I do have another script called ExportImport that could be used to back up the current state of your tags (you should temporarily rename the media folder during the export phase), after which you would then run UpdateTagInfo and then use ExplortImport in its import mode to restore the corrupted data.

Is there a way to have itunes recognize music ratings in mp3 file

I have a large collection of music and I use a different program to save and organize my music. When I open the folders of many of my songs, the ratings are there. Why does itunes not recognize these ratings and is there an addon or any way to not have to go back through everything?

iTunes doesn't embed ratings in the tracks but keeps them separately in the database. This allows it to easily transfer updated ratings been iTunes and devices without needlessly updating or copying the files themselves. I know of at least one script (mm_rating_to_itunes) that could transfer embedded ratings into iTunes but the website it lived on has closed down and for reasons unknown the script isn't included in the replacement site: https://sites.google.com/site/teridon/itunesscripts. I've posted a question to the author to see if I can find out more.

If you are using the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV (little black box) then it would have no syncing or storage capability.
iTunes content would be accessed using home sharing.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.
