How can I implement @see's behavior in a taglet?

Admittedly I didn't search the whole forum, so please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before.
However, I am attempting to implement a silly little taglet that will allow me to have a class 'link' to its junit test case. The reason it's silly is three-fold: 1) i know i can accomplish the same thing with @see but choose not to, 2) i know i can accomplish the same thing with {@link} but choose not to, and 3) i want the link to follow the color scheme used in the junit javadoc (i.e. color red, visited color green).
I have it working...sort of. I'd really link to take advantage of how @see attempts to find the referenced class but I don't know how. Right now I take the Tag text, blindly take the class name (assumes text is correctly referencing a class), output the necessary style information and then output the link.
Example:
@testcase packagename.MyTest
[class exists] -
JUnit TestCase:
MyTest <- in the style of a hyperlink
[class does not exist] -
JUnit TestCase:
packagename.MyTest <- plain text
I would appreciate any assistance: a reference to some documentation that outlines how @see works, a reference to some source code of @see, possible algorithms for me to implement.

Hi Mel,
If you are using the latest version of Javadoc, I recommend that you extend com.sun.tools.doclets.standard.tags.SeeTaglet . Override method toString() and modify the link to follow the desired color scheme.
Then, pass your new taglet to Javadoc using the -taglet and -tagletpath options.
