How can I import a downloaded title?
I downloaded several titles from videoblocks.com and would like to know if I can download it to iMovie. Any ideas?
You can easily import the titles by using File/Import Movie...
But the problem will be getting Text into your Titles. There are not multiple layers in iMovie like there are in Final Cut Pro.
The built-in iMovie Titles have text boxes. But I don't know how to add a title to an imported title. The workaround would be to figure out where you need the text, and create a .png slide in Photoshop, Acorn, or Pixelmator (or photo editor of your choice) that puts the text where you need it. Then drag this photo on top of your title as a Cutaway.
In Final Cut Pro X with Motion, this is much more straightforward.

What camera is this from? Make sure it is actual AVCHD and not some variant such as AVCHD Lite which is not supported.
Also, try this: In the Log and Transfer Pane, click on the Gear icon do set the preferences and set the Import
Preferences > AVCHD Plugin > AC3 Audio to Plain Stereo.
You can also download a trial version of Clipwrap and see if by converting the files to AIC with that software, then importing the files to FCE you have better luck.

How can I import files downloaded to ext HD from Canon XL105?
I am trying to import the media files I backed up from CF cards to an external hard drive. I used the Canon Utility to back them up and know I have picture. I can see the clips through the utility, but I can't get them into FCP. Canon provided a plug-in which worked in FCP 6 using Log & Transfer (Native Canon XL105), but Import on FCP X does not recognize them. I was on the road and shooting over a 7 week period and scrubbed the media off the CF cards; the files exist only on harddrives. What can I do?

Well, I can verify that the uploader will not work, not that you needed verification. But, I followed the instructions you linked me to in order to fool my Mac, but ran into a problem with System permissions. I could not get permission to change a System file, so I could not save the changes. I tried everything. Then I called Canon support and was assured (after much time waiting for the call center support people to confer) that I could just go ahead and install the Plugin, regardless of the OS. Of course, it did not work on OS X 10.6 as you had predicted. So I called back, got another guy, who told me that they should have told me that I definitely had to have 10.7 Lion in order to upload. I asked if there was any chance the upload function could be changed, and he said no way. So there you have it. Either I upgrade to Lion, which I really don't want to do, or I am out of luck. Perhaps someone has suggestions for getting System permissions?????
I did not throw myself out the window of our basement apartment, but I am indeed frustrated. I'm considering a tub of martinis.

How can I import a movie into iMovie 09 from a hard drive? The movie will open and play in idvd but breaks into separate files that can't be downloaded when I try to import. Can it be done? I am trying to create a disc of player highlights for a collegiate coach, and I am using movie files downloaded to my hard drive from a DVD created on a PC.
No unfortunately it won't open in quicktime either. It does the same thing that Imovie does, separates it into two file folders audio and video, and if i select video it opens to reveal 8 files that cannot be selected. VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB,VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VB, VTS_01_3.VOB. All of which cannot be opened or selected.
Opening it in Idvd and folllowing your suggestion works and I get a format code of NTSC. Is that the same? Thank you for your time and response.

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.

I have hundreds of old MPEGs stored in my nexternal drive, but unfortunatly i was not able import them into iMovie. I did the following trick: I created a new set of a folder and subfolder and called it "Virtual_CAM/DCIM" and saved it on my desktop. Then went to Disk Utilities>File Menue>New>Disk Image from Folder. Then selected the folder on my desktop and clicked enter. I moved the .dmg file to my external (or just keep it on your desktop). I clicked on the .dmg file. It shoud be visible on the Finder. Open your Imovie and import as you do from your camera. -

The Canon S100 wasn't supported until version 6.6 of camera raw and that isn't supported by pse 8.
You options are to either upgrade to pse version 10 or use the DNG converter
