How can i install labview in a AMD64Linux machine?

Hello:
I'm a linux user, I have Debian installed and maybe changing for Suse or Mandrake due to the NI's preference on those two OS. But I have only one question: is it possible to install LabVIEW in a linux that's native AMD64, this means, that if there's a 64-bit Linux Version of LabVIEW?
Thanks for reading this.

Hi panthell, your concerns have solid bases. If you want to Learn LabVIEW and get full functionality, I will suggest using Windows. But if you want to use Linux you will find less trouble with the  32 bit OS.
The 32 bit Suse can work with 64bits as if there were 32. So it could work, but you won’t have all the functionality or will have to deal with more small problems.  Also there is a version of 64 bits of Suse, it has some compatibility mode to run programs as 32 bits systems. Using this final option you may have the core functionalities running but might have trouble with NI drivers. Still using Linux 64 bit will have some of the limits the Linux and the 64bits.

LabVIEW as it works on a Runtime can be used in many platforms the officially supported are the ones that we had made tests and are confident they will work

  • How can I install labVIEW to another path?

    Greetings,
I am trying to install labVIEW 8.2.1 for our R.H. Linux labs campus wide.
I am able to install the software onto a single machine.
And in the installation script it outputs:
NOTE: LabVIEW will install by default in /usr/local/natinst/LabVIEW-8.2,
or in the natinst/LabVIEW-8.2 subdirectory if you specify an alternate location.
But it doesn't say how to specify an alternate location.
I need to install labVIEW into:
    /afs/bp.ncsu.edu/dist/labview821/
which is a network filesystem we have here. Most of our commercial apps are installed this way. Your app is the first
commercial app I've had to install that uses RPM instead of a tarball.
I can't install the RPMs on every machine on campus because we only have root access
to a small subset of these machines. In the past we've been able to install apps into
AFS space and have anyone on campus be able to access the application.
(By adding each apps bin/ in the network directory to the search $PATH)
So I want to put labview in
    /afs/bp.ncsu.edu/dist/labview821/bin/labview
    instead of
    /usr/local/bin/labview
Will this be possible with labview? Or will labview only work if installed on a local hard disk drive?
    Thanks,

    Greetings,
We have a site license for the college of engineering.
I was never prompted for any licensing info for the Linux version. (Durring install or running the labview
app post install on my test machine) I know some of our employees set up a LabVIEW license server. I know its IP address...
    (152.1.68.81)
How do we specify that the Linux installed software should use that? Is it done via an environmental variable? Or does only
the windows version of the software use the license server? The Linux version appeard to have no copy protection? I never was prompted for
    serial numbers or anything...
    I also tried using the
     ./INSTALL --no-rpm
command line option to install the app but it failed to give me a way to specify a new install location. In fact, it seemed
to still use rpm for its install.
I looked at the readme.html docs on the install CD and it refered to a pdf that you can only read
after installing the program. (To learn how to install the software you first have to install the software)
This document was called: "LabVIEW release notes."
ON page 8 of "LabVIEW release notes" it says:
    LINUX:
Complete the following steps to install LabVIEW for Linux.
    1. Log into the system as root.
    2. Insert the LabVIEW 8.2 installation CD. Uswe mount /mnt/cdrom to
mount the CD. On some systems, the CD mounts automatically.
    3. To change the current directoty to the mounted CD, enter the
       following command:
       cd /mnt/cdrom
    4. To run the installation script, enter the following command:
    sh ./INSTALL
    5. (Optional) Install LabVIEW add-ons. Refer to the Installing LabVIEW
Add-Ons section of this document for more information.
    6. (Optional) Install and configure National Instruments hardware. Refer
to the INstalling and Configuring Hardware section of this document for
       more information.
    7. Refer to the Where to go from here section of this document for more
informationabout getting started with and using labVIEW.
The INSTALL script prompts you to enter the directory where you want to
install LabVIEW, which is typically /usr/local.
But the install scipt never prompts you like it says it would in the release notes.
Maybe it did that in version 8.2 and doesn't in 8.2.1? (And they just forgot to update
the documentation or its just wrong?)
If rpm is the only supported option for installing the Linux version and if it can't
be relocated than we can tell the departments paying for the site license that
they will have to run the program only on our 200 or so Linux lab machines. Not their
Linux machines hooked up to whatever instruments they plan to interface with this
    software.
But before I tell them that I'd like to hear someone tell me that what I'm trying to do
is impossible. (Install LabVIEW on a network directory) I  am having a hard time
finding any further installation documentation for the Linux version on the ni website.
And the documentation I've read from within the program in the form of the Release Notes
    seems to have errors.
Many thanks for any ideas anyone has.

  • How can I install a jre on client machines with no Internet Access

    Hi
I have a lot of client machines located throughout the country which are connected to a central network (Oracle) application server. The client machines do not have internet access. The application now uses an applet which is accessible from the network. I would like to use the <jsp:plugin> tag to automatically download and install a jre on the client browsers that don't have a jre installed, when they access the jsp page. Unfortunately, even using iepluginurl="http://server-address/jinstall-1_4_2-windows-i586.cab, the client machines still need to access the internet to install the JRE as the cab file needs to access files at the Sun site.
Is there any online jre installer, that can be used on a network where the client machines do not have internet access? Or do I need to install the JRE manually on each machine? The browsers are all Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    Thanks
    David

    Thanks for your reply ChuckBing.
Unfortunately I had already copied the instructions I found in the Sun documentaion to the letter and it still needed access to the internet. In the end I solved the problem by pointing the iepluginurl to a non existent file and putting a URL, pointing to an offline JRE executable on the server, as the message that appears when the applet cannot be loaded. The clients then have the choice of downloading the JRE or installing it online by clicking on the URL.
    Thanks anyway.

  • How many computers can I install labview on?

I have two automated tests that I would like to run at the same time on separate computers.
Increased productivity and the whole 9 yards.
Can I legally install Lab view on both computers and run them at the same time?
Or is it only 1 copy of Labveiw can be running at a given time?
How are the licenses set up? I am running Labview 8 on a basic liscense.

I think that LV 8.0 can be installed on 2 or 3 machines (one might be a home system) but if you are developing a test system you should consider building your system into a stand alone executable which should be able to run royalty free on many machines under the runtime engine.  Building and distributing applications is not hard in LV.  I would check the licence agreement that came with your version of labview to be safe.

  • How do I install LabVIEW 6.0 over the evaluation version? I can't un-install the evaluation version.

I get the message that another version of LabVIEW 6.0 is already installed and it won't let me install 6.0. How do I get rid of the evaluation version?

I don't have LabVIEW in my Add/Remove Programs. I may have at one time, but
can't remember. The removal must have been incomplete becasue LabVIEW 6.0
says "Another version of this produce is already installed." The same thing
happens if I try to reinstall the evaluation version.

    Hi Armin.S,

  • How can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements Update 9.0.3 after I get a message that Installation has failed and the solution is not in troubleshooting or forums?

My Photoshop Elements 9 stopped working a couple of weeks ago. When I clicked the PSE button nothing happened. I tried this several times over a few days and it still failed. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it. It worked well. Then I tried to install the Update 9.0.3. The download was almost successful. When it was about to show 100% successful for the download, an error message said the installation had failed and that I should try later. I tried this many times over a few days and the same result occurred. I tried troubleshooting and the answers to questions, but I could not find an answer. I don't know where to go to see if anybody has answered my question. How can I install Update 9.0.3?

  • How can I install Adobe Reader 11 to a drive other than C:\?

I downloaded Reader 11, but at no point during the installation process am I prompted for an installation location.  How can I install this to a drive other than the C:\?  I keep my C:\ and data storage drive separate so in the event the OS crashes I won't lose my data.  I have limited storage capacity since I'm on a laptop so I didn't make my C:\ very large, so that I would have more room for my D:\.  Any suggestions?
    Sincerely,

having data on a different drive is a good idea.  installing programs on a drive different from you os containing drive is generally not a good idea.  but if you have the expertise and are sure of what you're doing:

  • How can i install windows games in my macbook pro

I m a game lover but since i've macbook pro,i haven't played any game on my macbook...so guys please tell me how can i install windows games to my macbook pro.

As eww said, that computer isn't specifically made for gaming. To get advanced graphics in a game, your computer needs what is called a "discrete" graphics processor, or GPU. This means a seperate chip that processes graphics. In Apple laptops, these are only found in the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro. It is not common to find these in laptops in general that are not expensive and high-end. What you have in yours is an "on-board" or "integrated" GPU. This means that graphics processing is done by a small portion of your main processor (the Intel i5 board). This takes away a portion of primary prossessing and dedicates it to graphics. This works perfectly find in most scenarios, but video rendering, gaming, and 3-D graphics tend to suffer. Most high-end, modern games require discrete GPUs to run at full quality these days.
As far as running Windows 7 and Mac OS both, yes you absolutely can. If you install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (this would require you to have a Windows 7 CD), when you turn on your computer it will default to opening up in Mac OS. But if you hold down the Option key (bottom of the keyboard next to the Command button) while the computer is booting up, it will ask you if you want to open Windows or Mac OS.
