How can I install my CS2 upgrade to my new macbook pro?

Help! I have a new Macbook pro and an old upgrade of CS2 photoshop (upgraded from Photoshop 6). I bought these two for a PC and was told in the Mac shop that I could run them on my fancy new machine..........apparently not, it won't install classic photoshop 6 as presumably it's too old. I also have CS2 Indesign but can't find the install button to press for that either......Am I screwed? I can't afford new programmes.

CS2 is the oldest version that can be upgraded to CS5. You may want to do that now before you lose the opportunity when CS6 comes out. You can upgrade and crossgrade to CS5 for Mac.
Another thought...
I run CS2 for Windows on Linux through Wine. It works fine. You could probably install Wine on Mac and do the same.
The salespeople might have been referring to running your Windows software on Mac with a virtual machine... with the help of such apps as VMWare Fusion or Parallels. These let you run Windows on top of Mac OS X without rebooting into a Windows partition. See the marketing line: "It Runs Windows Too".

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you are asking about the system requirements for running various versions of Windows under Bootcamp, or just more generally how to set up Bootcamp on your Mac, you may find the following articles/pages helpful:

  • How can I sync my iPad 2 with my new MacBook Pro when it is already synced with my old MacBook? I am getting a message on the new MacBook Pro that says I am not allowed to sync the iPad 2 because it is synced to another iTunes library.

How can I sync my iPad 2 with my new MacBook Pro when it is already synced with my old MacBook? I am getting a message on the new MacBook Pro that says I am not allowed to sync the iPad 2 because it is synced to another iTunes library.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
also, there are PhoneView and iRip.

  • HT200165 How can I install my Aperture program to my new macbook?

I would like to install my Aperture program to my new macbook. Does anyone know how this can be done? Apple says that it is legal to do so, but their instructions are full of doublespeak and jargon. Can anyone please simplify the answer?

If you downloaded Aperture 3 from the Apple Store and not the AppStore, then you cannot download it from the AppStore to your other mac. You need the original installer disk image you downloaded. If you did not keep that, download the Trial installer - you can unlock it with your registration key.
A copy of the Trial Installer is here:
    Aperture 3.1 Trial.
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.
Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
Install the Aperture 3.4 update from the list of available updates.
Note: If you are using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later, you may receive an alert stating that Aperture is from an unidentified developer. This can occur when you try to install Aperture from DVD or the trial download. See OS X Mountain Lion: The app is from an unidentified developer for details on how to successfully install Aperture in this situation.

  • How can I install epson stylus nx625 driver on my Macbook Pro?

I've spent a frustrating few hours today going back and forth between Apple tech support and Epson tech support and still do not have a solution to what should be a simple problem.  I got a new MacBook Pro as a work computer and want to install my home printer on it so that I can print when working from home.  The printer is an Epson Stylus NX 625 all in one.
The directions on Epson's website indicate that the only way to install is use the "Software Update" function by going to the Apple icon on the upper left corner.  When doing this, the system looks for an update and finds nothing.  Printer is connected to the MacBook  via usb cable and is also on my wireless network.  I called Apple tech support and they said they don't have a driver for this Epson device and I should contact Epson.  I called Epson tech support and they say that they don't even have the driver for this device on their website because "Apple has signed off on ownership of this driver and only they can deliver this to you via their software update".   Can anyone help?
I am running Mountain Lion, OS X 10.8.1
    Thanks for any assistance provided.

  • How can I create a tiger partition on a new macbook pro?

I understand how to partition a drive, and install tiger, but how do I install leopard on the other partition without having a leopard install disk? (Having just what came with the laptop)
I was about to buy a new macbook pro when I learned the I wont be able to use my final cut pro 3 with leopard. (thank you apple) I was thinking I could have a bootable partition running tiger that would be used with FCP3, but then how would I get leopard back on the other partition?
It sounds like maybe leopard isnt worth the trouble? Will photoshop 7 work with leopard?

Why is apple doing this? I thought only microshaft pulled these stunts!
It's not a stunt. Apple has always, always done this. A large part of the reason is simply that the Mac you're using didn't exist when older versions of an OS were released. So the drivers for your hardware don't exist on those older disks, making it impossible to correctly install the OS for your Mac.
It's not just major releases, either. I had a G5 that came with Panther, 10.3.5. Even though I had a retail copy of Panther, the G5 could not boot to the retail disk as it was 10.3.0. Again, the drivers weren't on the retail disk for my Mac since that model didn't exist at the time Panther was released.
So my options (like I have any options!) are to buy a new macbook pro for megabucks, AND buy all new software for megabucks?
No, only those apps that are too old for the OS you're using. Photoshop 7 was the first OS X version. And at that, it was really still an OS 9 app with just enough extra support files that allowed it to run in earlier releases of OS X. I'm still using quite a few older apps that run just as well now as they did in Panther. Even those that are PowerPC only apps since they run fine through Rosetta emulation.
I believe PS 7 still qualifies for the upgrade price to PS CS3. That isn't bad at $160.

  • How do I install Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on new MacBook Pro without DVD drive?

I just purchased my first MacBook Pro and am trying to get everything set up and installed. I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and retrieved my serial number and have the redemption code -- but I can't figure out how to install Photoshop without a DVD drive. The Photoshop package I purchased only provides DVDs and I don't have a DVD drive. Is there a website I can go to to install Photoshop and enter my serial number or redemption code?

Have you tried downloading the trial version and using your serial
    number to activate it?
The trial version is a complete product and can be activated by
    inserting the valid serial number.
    Good luck.

  • How do I install The Sims 3 on my new macbook pro?

I jsut got my MacBook Pro and im still learning how to run everything but i cant figure out how to install my Sims 3 game. I put it in and it acts like it is going to bring up an installer window like my old Dell used to do but then it stops and nothing happens. Where do i need to go to download the game?

Go to the top menu bar where it says Finder (if it doesnt, click anywhere on your desktop and it should show up)
Click on "Finder" Go to "Preferences", then under the "General" tab where it sais "Show these items in the desktop" make sure the option "CDs, DVDs and Ipods" is checked.
Close that window and reinsert the game disc.
It should show up on your desktop, a CD icon, just click on that icon.

  • How can I sync my iPhone 4 with a new MacBook Pro without losing all my data and settings?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 with a PC running Windows XP until the hard drive died. Thankfully, I already had a backup of all my iTunes media (Songs, TV Shows, Movies, Podcasts, Apps, etc), so when I bought a new MacBook Pro, transferring my iTunes library was easy.
My problem now is that I want to sync my iPhone 4 with my new MacBook Pro without losing all the data and settings. I have already used iTunes to back it up and transfered my purchases onto the mac. I just need help to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing app data, emails, contacts, settings.
Everytime I click on the tabs (to sync contacts, apps, music, et al), I get an error message that reads:
"Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone “Ryan's iPhone” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."
What do I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • How can I recover my iTunes files to my new macbook pro?

DESPERATE:I had over 400 music iTunes purchased music files on my iMac G5 PowerPC which died. No problem, I thought, "I'll just restore from my external hard drive that I have been backing up too periodically" - apparently it's also dead - will not mount at all to my MacBook Pro (it's a Lacie). So I paid $130.00 this week to have a computer repair shop take the hard drive out of the old dead iMac and put it in an enclosure so I could do a data transfer from it to my MacBook Pro.
Wasted money. There is NOTHING showing in my user "Music" or "Photos" folders on the old hard drive...so now what are my options? Is there ANY way to get back the hundreds of $$ I've spent buying music from iTunes for past 6 years?? geez...

  • Installed Trend Micro Smart Surfing on new MacBook Pro and now it has caused error that won't let computer boot up.  How do I get it to a point that I can delete program?

Installed Trend Micro Smart Surfing on new MacBook Pro and now it has caused error that won't let computer boot up.  How do I get it to a point that I can delete program?

Try booting up in Safe mode (holding down the Shift key while booting). If the software came with an unistaller, use it to remove alll traces of the software - it's nothing that you need and, as you've experienced, can do more actual hard than good (as is the case with most software of this type). When you're booted in Safe Mode, if you can't run an uninstaller, at least check to make sure that there are no Trend Micro items that are set for automatic log in, at least.
