How can I install Oracle Workflow?

Hy!
I use OracleDatabase 10.2 on WindowsXP. I want install Oracle Workflow 2.6.3, but I can't do this. The installation guide say "In the Oracle Universal Installer, choose to install into the Oracle home for your Oracle Database 10g, and select Oracle Workflow Server as the component to install." If I do this, then the error message is: "This is not a 10g oracle_home. Please abort the installation", but it is a 10g home, but I dont find "select Oracle Workflow Server as the component to install" setting in the Universal Installer.
What can I do?
Please help me!

Oracle DB 10.2 has Oracle Workflow standalone 2.6.4 with it. If you are installing 2.6.4 that comes with the 10.2 DB CD it should go through fine. If you are doing exactly what I said but still have the same problem, please give the installar log file.

    Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

  • How can i install Oracle 9i Enterprise version on Linux 7.2

I know this isn't a RedHat admin forum...but one of the most important things is an up2date set of system packages. It is my opinion that the RedHat Network Updater (up2date) should always be used to keep your kernel, bin-utils, glibc, gcc, etc files up2date...they fix issues all the time that help in relinking (making) files, as well as fixing security problems and increasing platform security.
That said, the version of bin-utils, glibc, kernel and gcc that I have installed Oracle 9i release 1 on RedHat 7.2 is:
    kernel-2.4.9-31
    binutils-2.11.90.0.8-12
    glibc-2.2.4-24
    gcc-2.96-98
Here is the documentation I followed:
    http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.html
and here is a good discussion thread on an installation:
    http://www.orafaq.com/msgboard/unix/messages/821.htm
I did not (and do not) recommend downgrading the bin-utils ... just update the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh file and relink...
Also, if installing Oracle 9i Release 2 on RedHat 7.3, see this thread concerning the ins_ctx.mk error

How to install Oracle software remotely?
Remote Software Installation Steps: (For Solaris only)
If you want to install Oracle Software remotely, you should perform the following steps. These steps are applicable only if your source and target machine are running Unix.
For example, you can install Oracle Software from your home from Washington, DC to a target source in California.
    1. Pick your source server or machine for remote installation.
    2. Check that your CD is in your source CD-ROM drive.
    3. On the target machine, find your target machine name with the output of the /usr/bin/hostname
    4. On the source machine, login as a user.
    5. On the source machine, enable client access: % /usr/openwin/bin/xhost + target-machine-name
    6. Become root user by typing: su (don’t use -)
    7. Check that Volume Manger is running. # ps –ef |grep vold (if you see an entry that contains /usr/sbin/vold, Volume Manager is running. Then skip to Step 10.
    8. If not then do the following: # mkdir –p /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    9. # mount –F hsfs –r cdrom-device /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    10. Add the following line to your /etc/dfs/dfstab file: # share –F nfs –o ro /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    11. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    12. If you see an entry that contains /use/lib/nfs/nfsd –a 16, then nfsd is running and skip to Step 16.
    13. If nfsd is running, then type: # /usr/sbin/shareall
    14. If nfsd is not running, then start nfsd by typing: # /etc/init.d/nfs.server start
    15. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server again by typing: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    16. Make sure your source machine is exporting your product directory by typing: # /usr/sbin/dfshares
    17. Now, log in to the target machine by type: # rlogin target-machine-name –l user (not root)
    18. Then log in as the root user by typing: # su
    19. Go to the source machine by typing: # cd /net/source-machine/cdrom/your-cd-file-name ,then Skip to 24.
    20. If you cannot change to that directory in Step 19 and you do not have an auto-mounter on your network, then create amount point by typing the following commands.
    21. # mkdir /remote_products
    22. # /usr/sbin/mount –F nfs –r source-machine:/cdrom/your-cd-file-name /remote_products
    23. # cd /remote_products
    24. Redirect the target machine display to source machine by typing: # DISPLAY=source-machine:0; export DISPLAY (if you use a Bourne or Korn shell).
    25. Start the Web Start Installer by typing: # ./installer (or whatever the installer name program is).

  • How can I install Oracle database 9i on Redhat linux with OFA

    Hello,
    From the Unix installation guide:
Note: The Oracle Universal Installer supports, but does not require, OFA. The preconfigured database included with the Database installation type of Oracle9i database is created under a single mount point and is, therefore, not OFA-compliant.
So my question is how to install dabase with OFA structure. I have read the DOCs for OFA, but I still can not understand. I mean, within Oracle Universal Installer, is there some option allow me to support OFA?
    Thanks a lot,
    Grace

Why IBM said that their 64-bit server can run both 32-bit and 64-bit application in the same time?Because the CPU itself is capable of running both: 32-bit and 64-bit.
In order to do so you need a 64-bit operating system to run 64-bit binaries.
If you use LPARs you can partition your pSeries to have multiple partitions each running a copy of AIX. So you can run 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems at the same time if needed.
But as already pointed out i recommend to use 64-bit because most 32-bit applications will run without problems.

  • How can i install Oracle 9i Developer on XP Home to connect with my 9i DB?

    Hello All,
I have Oracle 9i installed on my XP Home and i am trying to install 9i Developer(Release 9.0.2) on a different drive so that the Forms and Reports can connect to the DB but i am having difficulty.
Upon the advise of another member, i put the 9i database on one drive and 9i developer on another.
I was able to login to the db upon installation using the scott schema but wasn't able to log in to Forms and Reports. I had the ff error when i tried to do so
    ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error.
I would really appreciate any help i can get in having Forms and Reports connect to the database so i can get some practice for my OCP Application Developer exams.
If it helps, upon start up of my computer, i always get a message saying Oracle Intelligent Agent (OracleOraHom90)encountered a problem and needs to close. A bunch of configuration tools also failed upon the installation of both the 9i database and 9i Forms Developer.
    Sincerely,
    Sam Jr.

Thank you for your response. I do know a listner exist but i don't have the slightest clue how to get it up and running because i am pretty much new at this. Any instructions would be more than welcome. In the meantime, i would dig around for info on doing that. Thank you very much.
    Sincerely,
    Sam Jr.

    The files at
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/workflow/htdocs/winsoft.html
are for Oracle Workflow version 2.6.0. Here is some information from the announcement for downloading the latest version, 2.6.3:
Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 for Oracle Database 10g is now available for download from OTN.
Please point your browsers to http://otn.oracle.com/software/index.html
Currently, the availability is limited to Windows and we are working towards availability on other platforms. I will post another message as soon as it becomes available.
The Workflow Server requires an Oracle 10g database home and the Workflow mid-tier requires an Oracle HTTP Server home - Apache Install from the Oracle 10g Companion CD. For more information please read the installation notes.

  • How to install oracle workflow on my desktop?

i am having oracle 9i in my machine. i want to install oracle workflow. kindly tell me how to install or provide me with the link where installation has been explained.please let me know where i will find that documen?t
    thanks.

There are two major components to install in Oracle Workflow.
    1. Workflow Client - Otherwise called Oracle Workflow Builder, this is a windows based tool to design and develop your workflow process. This tool is the developer's tool for transforming the business process into a workflow process. The process definition can be stored to filesystem as a file with .wft extension or directly to a database where workflow server is installed.
    2. Workflow Server - Workflow engine that executes the workflow process designed using the workflow builder above. The workflow process designed above is loaded into the workflow server either from the builder directly by connecting to the workflow server schema or using the workflow definitions loader which is a command line utility that reads the .wft file.
    Installation
    1. You may install the Workflow Builder 2.6.2 downloadable from OTN on your PC. This needs an appropriate Oracle Home using which the builder is built by Oracle. I believe 2.6.2 can be installed into a 9i home. It is better that you install the builder into a new Oracle Home and not use any existing homes.
    2. Workflow Server 2.6.2 is shipped with Oracle Database 9iR2. In the additional or optional components (not sure about the exact words) section of your 9iR2 CD you can find Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 that provides the workflow server. You may install this into the existing Oracle Database 9iR2 Oracle home. After installing oracle workflow server you should run the Workflow Configuration Assistant to create the workflow schema in the database and create the required objects in the schema in order for the Workflow Engine to be become operational.
In summary, installation of Workflow Server has two phases.
o Install Oracle Workflow to 9iR2 home.
o Run Workflow Configuration Assistant to configure the workflow server
Once the Workflow Configuration Assistant is run successfully, you need to set up the PLSQL DAD (Database Access Descriptor) to access workflow home page using the Apache server that comes bundled with Oracle Database 9iR2.
Please refer to Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 installation document for more information.
