  • HT2431 How can I best run old CDs written for Mac OS 9 (Classic)on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.7 with VMware Fusion

I have some old CDs of medical drawings and other references that were written for Mac OS 9 (Classic). These are still excellent resources but I now  have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.7. I also am running VMware Fusion.  How best can I run these programs?

MacBook Pros & OS X Lion don't support classic operation.
Suggest you buy an older Mac that will run OS 9 or run in classic mode while booted into OS X Tiger or below.

  • How can i install windows 7 on my second hard disk while the first hard disk running with windows 8.1

    I have Toshiba laptop P-75 model :
this model have two slots for the hard disks , on my first hard disk i am running the default windows 8.1 which came with the original condition (when i bought my laptop) , since i am a civil engineer many of my field programs  is not working on the
windows 8.1 version and the rest programs barely works appropriate!
I want to download windows 7 on the second hard disk, thus having dual boot in order to chose which windows i want to use.
    thanks in advance
    ENGR. Saeed Al-Khaled

You need to consult with Toshiba as this is a hardware specific problem and you may not be able to install Windows 7 dues to lack of hardware drivers and/or the laptop being configure for Secure Boot which Windows 7 does not cope with either.
It is your responsibility to do the research for this project to ensure compatibility and needed hardware drivers.

  • How can I install windows XP in my Macbook using bootcamp?

I`ve just bought my mackbook Pro and I`m student of engineering. I`d like to install windows XP in my macbook to use some especifics softwares! But when I use bootcamp, Mac just gives me the option to install Windows 7? How can I install Windows XP? Thanks at all!

Bootcamp 4 which ships with Lion doesn't support XP or Vista, only 7.  Try using Parallels or VMWare instead.

    Hi Armin.S,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your question. If you are asking about the system requirements for running various versions of Windows under Bootcamp, or just more generally how to set up Bootcamp on your Mac, you may find the following articles/pages helpful:

  • How Can I install Windows on my iMac??

Hi There! I wanted to ask that how can i install windows 7 64-bit on my imac as i wanted to use some softwares and also, play some games that are not there on osx. Please tell my how to do this. I have a 2007 24-inch iMac with the following specs-
    Intel Core2 Duo CPU@ 2.40GHz
4GB RAM (That i Upgraded Myself)
    Radeon HD2600 Pro Graphics, 256MB
    320GB HDD
    OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

Your Mid 2007 iMac has got a 64-bit processor that allows you to install a 64-bit Windows 7 version, but Apple doesn't give you support for it in your iMac. Only Late 2009 and newer iMacs are supported by Apple to install a 64-bit version. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
My advice is to install a 32-bit Windows 7 version, although you will probably not be able to use all the RAM. Follow Apple's steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
If you still want to install a 64-bit Windows 7 version, do it, but note that it won't work properly as there are no Apple drivers for it

  • How can I install Windows 7 on Macbook Pro 17' (2009 model)?

I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).
I get into a white screen (bootscreen) then it goes into a blackscreen. I am in the Setup screen because I hear my DVD reading when I press enter.
When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
    Pease help ?

Let me get this - because the title misled me as to what you are asking, ie:
I cannot Install, neither enter on the setup screen.
When I go to Bootcamp (3.0.1) and do everything then at the end when it says to done & restart my Macbook Pro 17' Inch (2009 model (MacbookPro 5,2)).
I get into a white screen (bootscreen) then it goes into a blackscreen. I am in the Setup screen because I hear my DVD reading when I press enter.
When I restart I get back to the Windows Setup but to enter back to Mac OS X I had to reset my PRAM and NVRAM.
Does the above really tell the story?
The issue isn't "How can I install Windows" but more like "I am trying to get past " an issue with Boot Camp 4.01.
Some people that already had BC 4.x installed had trouble after March's "Patch Tuesday" which was a critical number of security patches and updates. They had to rollback, uninstall an update/driver, before they could move forward.
The trouble with "had to zap pram to get back to Mac OS" is more to do with the health of the partition table and nvram, and you could try using both Windows control panel to set the default OS, and set Startup Disk control panel in Mac OS (click OFF the volume name, then back to the volume, too).
Sometimes there are problems with 3rd party NTFS for OS X that people use as well.
Boot into Lion Recovery - that should be first step if there are problems with Mac, and you don't sound like you tried boot Windows DVD (which I asked above, which can fix errors).

  • How can I install Windows 7 through Boot camp?

I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2009 and I am running OSX Mavericks. How can I install Windows 7 from the install DVD? Thank you for the help in advance. Just as a side note, if I want to run GTA 4 on Windows 7 through Boot Camp, will it be faster than it is on Parallels? Thanks again.

Games work much better in Boot Camp. Note that a virtual machine does not use all the performance of your MacBook, so they may work worse than in Boot Camp.
Your Mac supports a 64-bit Windows 7 version, so open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities), tick the options to download the Windows support software and install Windows, and follow its steps. Apple has got all the steps you need to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf
Remember to install the Windows support software after installing Windows

  • How can i install windows games in my macbook pro

I m a game lover but since i've macbook pro,i haven't played any game on my macbook...so guys please tell me how can i install windows games to my macbook pro.

As eww said, that computer isn't specifically made for gaming. To get advanced graphics in a game, your computer needs what is called a "discrete" graphics processor, or GPU. This means a seperate chip that processes graphics. In Apple laptops, these are only found in the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro. It is not common to find these in laptops in general that are not expensive and high-end. What you have in yours is an "on-board" or "integrated" GPU. This means that graphics processing is done by a small portion of your main processor (the Intel i5 board). This takes away a portion of primary prossessing and dedicates it to graphics. This works perfectly find in most scenarios, but video rendering, gaming, and 3-D graphics tend to suffer. Most high-end, modern games require discrete GPUs to run at full quality these days.
As far as running Windows 7 and Mac OS both, yes you absolutely can. If you install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (this would require you to have a Windows 7 CD), when you turn on your computer it will default to opening up in Mac OS. But if you hold down the Option key (bottom of the keyboard next to the Command button) while the computer is booting up, it will ask you if you want to open Windows or Mac OS.

  • Can I install windows 7 to an external USB 3.0 drive via bootcamp?

with the new airport extremes supporting USB 3.0, can I install windows 7 to an external USB drive via bootcamp?
i'm not willing to sacrafice any of the limited space on the SSD, but i'm very willing to get a good performing USB 3 drive, and use it as necessary with windows.
if this wouldn't work via bootcamp, can it be done on a windows PC and plugged in subsequent to the install to work on the road?

Installing Windows on an external drive is not supported.

Another option if you have access to a second Mac with a drive is to connect the two together with the iMac in Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, and installing from the Mac with the optical drive.
