How can I keep my ipod files when connecting to new pc?

When connecting ipod to this new pc, (other one died), it says it wants to sync my files and that it will delete what is on the ipod.
This is the only files I have left since the others were on the old pc.
Is there a way to save this music before it gets 'resync'd'?

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay:

Unfortunately, the uncertainty arising from the rounding has been up several times here in this forum.
I just came to remember a warning that needs to be given:
The rounding of the representation of a numerical value may be harmless in itself, but if you use it for any operation that changes the value, such as multiplication or whatever, things will go wrong because the operation will be made on the basis of the rounded value instead of the true value. So, as in your first case in post #2, 39.625 rounded to 39.63 will become 79.26 instead of 79.25.

Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto your new computer ? If not, then depending on which country that you are in you might be able to re-download iTunes purchases from the store. Otherwise you will need to find a third-party program to copy the music off the iPod - this post from a couple of years mentions some that were around at the time, I don't know whether they still exist and work.

i have been searching for a solution for a long time please help me >
we have more than 100.000 docuents saved as pic on our network at work by using ( Laser Fiche). I wanted to save all files by using acrobat distiller but when i try to print a file i was prompted to enter a file name! but i don't want to... i want the distiller create a file name automatially.
in the preferencesd i unchecked ( ask for PDF .. ) but the problem is that all files saved were overwritten because distiller was imporing the file name from Laser Fich!
how can I make distiller ( autoname files like 0001 0002 0003 and so on) ?
forgot to tell you that i am using acrobat version 5 ( and windows xp + laser fiche at work )

it didn't work
I opened the properiteis of the distiller and uncheck the ( prompt for the PDF file name) so that the distiller can save files automatically . it did but by overwriting the files because the original files in the LASER FICHE have same names so the distiller saved one file only by overwriting ....that's why i want to make distiller to name files when saving them ( the distiller are imorting the files from Laser fiche only but i want it to autoname them )
i also opened distiller properites and unchecked the ( ask to replace existing PDF filename ) the distiller was always asking me to replace file ! and I can't do it this way because I have more than 100.000 docuents!

A couple of other items:

The iphone/ipod is NOT a storage/backup device. Not maintaining a backup copy is a big mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone/ipod to your computer:
Authorize your computer for all accounts and then click File>Transfer Purchases

Besides starting with a 16:9 iMovie Project you must choose the "Expert Settings" when exporting to QuickTime.
Choose DV Stream. Double check those settings by clicking the "Options" button. This is where you'll find the aspect ratio for your DV file.

My computer crashed and I want to put the contents of my iPod Touch back on the new hard drive. How do I do this without accidentally Syncing and copying over my data? The vast majorioty of the music on my iPod is my own from DCs I own.

You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabilng the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Next, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials.
If possible, either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync. To do this, right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.
