Unless you kept the original installer packages or can download or use the installer disks again, there is no way to save all the programs as those might be infected too.
Preferably it's best to maintain bootable clones on separate drives to restore a older system and software you can't get anymore.

Oracle Workflow versions every workflow process launched. Each time a workflow definition is changed, only new workflow processes will start using the latest definition. Existing workflow processes will continue to use the definition created when the process was started.
In other words, If a process is running, Oracle Workflow uses the version of the activity that was in effect when the process was initiated. It does not switch versions of the activity mid-way through the process.

I am trying to make a DVD based on 16:9-films made in iMovie. I want to keep full quality in both pictures and sound. But the dv-file comes out in 4:3, not in 16:9. How do I keep the 16:9-format all the way from iMovie to iDVD (I can not go directly from iMovie to iDVD, because I am going too put more than one film on the DVD)? Do I need Quick Time Pro? I am thankful for a clarifying answer...

Besides starting with a 16:9 iMovie Project you must choose the "Expert Settings" when exporting to QuickTime.
Choose DV Stream. Double check those settings by clicking the "Options" button. This is where you'll find the aspect ratio for your DV file.

How can I keep the old version of iMovie when I add the new version?

In the past, when I new version of iMovie came out, I kept the old working version by puttting it inito a folder, and labeled it 'Old iMovie', or some such. When I installed the new version, it didn't recognize that folder, and left the old version alone. That way, if there were bugs/problems with the new version, I could always revert to the "old" version, without probems.
Would that still work?

You don't need to move anything around. Apple has anticipated that some people may prefer to use the old version along with the new one, so when you update to iMovie 10, a script runs that puts your iMovie 9 into a folder inside your Applications folder:
/Applications/iMovie 9.0.9
People are having a lot of problems with the new version. You can look through this forum to find out what they are, and see if there are workarounds.
I updated to 10, updated all my Projects and Events, and began using it; but after about 10 days decided to go back to 9. I'll try 10 again when Apple releases an update to fix the problems and add back some of the features they stripped out.

How can I keep my ipod files when connecting to new pc?

When connecting ipod to this new pc, (other one died), it says it wants to sync my files and that it will delete what is on the ipod.
This is the only files I have left since the others were on the old pc.
Is there a way to save this music before it gets 'resync'd'?

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay:

File > save for web (& devices). That will give you the best and smallest web-ready graphics. With save as you're embedding all kinds of info that doesn't need to be in the image. File size can bloat ten-fold quickly. Use save for web.

How can I keep my old plan (unlimited Data)

I am eligible for an upgrade, but it looks to me that doing that means losing my old data plan which is unlimited, with 1400 shared minutes to the new share everything plan and tiered data plans. I am trying to find a way to keep my current plan, but without resorting to purchasing the smartphone outright. Would adding a new line be an option?

Adding a new line (if you have a line available) would be an option - you could then place a"dumb" phone on that line for the 24 months of contract and pay the extra $10 + taxes per month - ~$250.00 over the 2 year contract. The new phone would then be activated on your line, maintaining unlimited data (for now). That too, could change at any time, since the data is an added "feature" and not part of the contract.
Other options:
Purchase the phone through a private party (used, perhaps) and activate on your line - you may find a sweet deal - just be sure the phone is "clean" and Verizon branded. Ebay, Swappa, friends....
Using the upgrade from another line on the plan that may or may not currently have a data plan - not everyone needs or uses unlimited, and a 2 GB limit may work for another line, allowing you to keep the unlimited on your line.
I was hesitant to let go of my unlimited plan when moving away from my BlackBerry, but it's been fine. I find with wifi available nearly everywhere, I'm using less than 1 GB of my allowance each month, and I don't feel "limited". Two daughters on the plan with me have iPhones, and occasionally they will flirt with the limit, but have not gone over.

How can you keep the file name when using "Download Linked File As..."?

I'm a longtime PC user finally making the transition to Mac. Some of the tasks that seemed so simple in Windows have really stumped me! One of the tasks I do frequently is download files into specific folders. After much looking, I finally found the "Download Linked File As..." option if I right-click on the download link. The problem is, when I choose this option, I lose the file name. I get a window in which I can choose the desired folder, but the filename is always "0". If I want to keep the filename (and I usually do), I have to type it in manually. Is there anyway around this?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

How can I keep iTunes from opening when I insert a CD?

I have gone through the preferences again and again, and I can't find a way to keep iTunes from opening whenever I insert a CD. iTunes is not my preferred player/encoder, and I don't want it to open unless I tell it to.
Case in point, I'm converting many CDs to mp3, using an application that gives me the filename format I want (iTunes isn't that flexible enough to do that). It is annoying for iTunes to keep butting in, every time I insert a CD!

"You have inserted a CD" (duuh, Apple...)
Then you choose from a pop-up menu that offers "Open in Finder", "Open in iTunes", etc
At some point you (or someone) has chosen "Open in iTunes" then checked the little box that says "Make this the default from now on".
If you go into System Prefs (as already mentioned) you have a choice to reset what you want to do with a blank CD.

How can I keep pages from scrolling when using keyboard page-down

The bottom of the pages window has a gear. You can select "Page" in the drop down menu and click the arrow, to perform a page down. The new page is positioned exactly like the previous page. But when I type fn+down-arrow or cmd+down arrow the new page view is either higher or lower than the previous page. Resizing the window makes it almost possible to get a consistent page display but not quite. It's awkward trying to read a document when each new page jumps to a new position. The arrow next to the gear is the only solution I've found.
Does anyone know a way to achieve this page down view using just the keyboard. I'm using the iMac wireless keyboard?

It is an annoyance, due to the 2 meaning two different things.
The page down key means the whole window view which is not the physical page that you see in Pages.
Apple could have clarified it by labelling the key +window down/up.+

How can I keep patterns from flashing when scrolling?

I am sensitive to flashing and strobing lights. They hurt. I have a lot of trouble with disorienting 'safety' lights, certain fluorescent lights, certain websites, et cetera. I also have trouble with disorienting noises. Elsewhere on this site, I had trouble with my screen flashing as I was scrolling. Apple had used a pattern of dots to create a medium grey, instead of using an even grey. It works fine on paper, but it flashes on the screen. Many patterns flash on the screen if I am scrolling.
Is there anything I can do about this?
