How can I keep my usb to reconize my ipod nano permently.

I keep having to set back up my PC which has Window's XP, to reconize my nano, I have to charge it by my PC, I don't have a seperate charger for it.
If I don't charge it for long time, then I plug it into my PC USB PORT and it say don't reconize device. Also I do have a USB listed for my Apple Ipod Nano on
my PC , but it tell's me I can't use it !! I keep forgetting how I fixed it the last time , and I am really not happy to have to keep doing this over and over.
Before I fixed had fixed it so that itunes would open automatically and then I would see it plugged in and synicing and charging fine. But now it is not
doing that anymore. Please can someone help me fix it for good.

I received an iPod Nano for my birthday and installed it on my girlfriends computer. She already owns an iPod, so when it asked the name of my iPod it defaulted to hers. The driver you need to connect your device to Windows is installed during the iTunes installation. So if you already have iTunes installed, verify if it is updated. If it's not, then update, If it is already updated download a new .exe file from the Apple page, and reinstall it:

I don't have my iPod nano first generation because the battery exploded. How can I have it replaced in the recent iPod Nano Replacement Program?

I took the inflated iPod to the Apple Store where a genius said that the battery had expanded and it was no longer safe to use. He said that sometimes happens with electronics and that I should dispose of it. Although disappointed with that answer, I took it home where I then recycled it. Anyway, now Apple is replacing this model of iPod Nano with the exact problem of problems with the battery. However, I feel that it is a little late because the people who have already spent money replacing their exploded nanos have disposed of their first generations and cannot benefit from the program.
Don't get me wrong, I have been extremely satisfied with Apple in the past and even in the present. However, I am unable to contact Apple to get help with this problem since I don't have a serial number. I'm frustrated!

OK, for some of you that may have the same problem or question as me. I have been testing my MAC Book Pro for ways to continue to power the usb while laptop in standby or off. I have found the following thing to work or not work.
1. The laptop doesn't send any power to your USB's when it is powered off reguardless if it is plugged in or not.
2. If laptop is put in standby no power is sent to USB's unless the power cord is plugged in on the laptop. So once again if you plug your laptop in and then put it in standby it does still send power to the USB's when requested.
So the bottom line is, On my last laptop (toshiba) I was given an option to go into system preference and make a change that allowed my laptop to continue to send power to USB's when requested while in standby or powered off. I was hoping I could do the same thing with my new smokin Mac Book Pro but I haven't found that kind of option in the MAC.

IF it is opening in import mode:
Do you have an external drive or device (iPhone, USB key) plugged into iPhoto? If so, there are some photo files on it that make iPhoto think it has photos to import. Remove the device, delete the photos or move the photos to another folder on the device.
If it is not openeing in import mode, it must be in your startup items. Drag it from there.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, big mistake, then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer: File>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to buy a 3rd party program to get any other music off of the iphone ( not supported by Apple).
When you sync the iphone, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.

How can I keep my child from UNBLOCKING contacts or numbers I have blocked? I know in restrictions when you disable account changes at least on ios 6,this greyed out the iMessage button so the kids couldn't deactivate their text feature.

Here's the issue. Kids got themselves into some trouble on iPods. TeresaBoo, I empathize with your dilemma and have a similar problem. I'm trying desperately to keep my teenage daughter away from a controlling and abusive boyfriend. Of course, she is in denial and thinks it's love. Sure, I can block text messages through our wireless provider, but iMessages run on an independent network. I can block a phone number from iMessaging on her phone, but she can unblock it just as easily. I wish there was some way for parents to create a password to protect settings. I spend most of the day on my iMac, with Apple Mail open. Over a few hours, I get dozens or more emails. I deal with them on my Mac as they come in or I have time. Now the same emails also show up on my iPhone and iPad. How can I keep from having the emails sent to my iPhone and iPad when I have mail open on my iMac? It used to be that when my iMac was open and mail on, I couldn't get mail on my iPhone, which is just what I wanted.
I've messed around with mail preferences, but maybe don't know what to set. (I know I can inactivate my account on the iPhone and iPad, but don't always remember to do that.)

Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud. In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple. Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account. When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process. If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service. They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID.

Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following: Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date. This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.
