How can I launch 39L4333DG TV directly as external monitor

Hi I"m using my TV as an external monitor for my Macbook Pro via HDMI cable. I know how to make it work... start TV, let Toshiba start up, exist, select input source. Is there a way I can just tell the TV once to not start up the Toshiba system, just remember the channel I'm attaching my computer to? It's an annoying process to do ever time I start working or had a break. Takes about a minute every time... :-( Hope there's an easy way that I"m overlooking. Thanks!! Rosevita

Umm, frankly, you missed a lot in the manual then.
You are on the right track but the flaw in your thinking is using DVI from your video card to your tv. From Final Cut Pro, all you're getting is an extension of your desktop, that's it.
To do what you want, you need a dedicated video input/output card from Aja or Blackmagic Designs. You may want to look at the [Intensity Pro|http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity> for a very low cost monitoring solution if all you're looking at is monitoring through hdmi.

How can I launch my application by just clicking on an icon ?.
How can I also package and install this application the way most conventional application are packaged and installed. Do we have a sort of "java Installer" ?.

Just make a .bat file. Open notepad, type something like
@echo off
javaw -classpath %~d0%~p0 Package.MainClass %1
Now make a shortcut to this file. Rightclick the shortcut and select start in "minimized". Thats it...

If you give them the Domain.sites2 file that iWeb used to create the site they will be able to open it with iWeb application (it has to be the same version as you have) and make changes. But if you're expected to also make changes you'll need a way to send that file back and forth between the two.
Also there's an online MacWorld article that describes a way that both of you could manage the site using Dropbox. Look at Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs.

How can I launch FCPX without validating AU plugins?

I have many hundreds of audio plugins for use with Logic Pro X, the primary app used on my system. When I launch FCPX, it crashes during AU (plugin) validation. How can I launch FCPX without validating AU plugins? Is there an FCPX-specific AU manager? I do not wish to move AU components around as my primary function is as an audio designer (so I do not wish to disrupt Logic Pro X functionality, even temporarily).

Thank you for your reply, David. This is more of an FCPX question rather than a LPX question. AU plugin validation works fine in LPX. AU plugin validation crashes FCPX. So, I am looking for a way to disable AU validation in FCPX (because I don't need the AU plugins in FCPX) ... or ... a way to selectively disable problematic AU plugins from within the FCPX app. The latter is because I do not believe there is a system-wide way to do this without physically moving AU plugin components so FCPX does not "see" them. At least one 3rd party tool does this, but I am not interested in affecting my LPX experience in any way. Sorry if I was not clear in my original post.

How can I read a file directly from a script please? I tried the insert into ... values but it does not work. I really have to read the file instead of entering the data via the interface. Does Oracle have a copy command? Each file line is split with tabs for each field in the line.
Finally how can I subdivide the strings in each field?

I wasn't thinking about the Apple Devices so much as the Master File set to Audio & Video which produces a .mov file.
I have normally used the Master File to export my videos but will experiment in future with "Computer".
I've taken a closer look with VideoSpec and notice that the data rate of the .mov file is about 70% of the .mp4 and the file size is correspondingly smaller.
The export/render time of the .mov is also somewhat quicker.

This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.

It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.

Before the latest release of iMovie I easily managed to export a project on an external usb drive and re-import such project on a different Mac... In the latest iMovie version, however, I cannot see my drive any more..

I'm not sure this is the best way, but you could create a new iMovie Library, move your project to that Library, then close the library. Then move the Library to your USB drive. Then, on the other Mac, in iMovie open the Library.
