How can i letterbox without changing the aspect ratio

How can i letterbox footage without stretching or compressing the image, so just chopping the top and botton off the footage. Also is there any way to perfectly define the measurements of the letterboxing to fit the -30 aspect ratio i have applied to other clips
Thanks

there are many many ways, a few example s include...
nest the sequence and then use the crop tool, or manually edit the "crop" motion properties, to crop off top and bottom of your edit
use the "Widescreen" filter
build and apply a "mask"
download and use my own letterbox matte generator

  • Using DW CS6; when uploading a site DW changes all dates to today; how can I upload without changing the file-dates?

    Using DW CS6; when uploading a site DW changes all dates to today;
how can I upload the site whilst preserving existing file-dates?
    Thanks
    Paul

    How are you uploading?
I do not see this behavior in DWCS4 or DWCC (I assume nothing changed in DWCS6 and then back for DWCC, but I could be wrong).
However, when I upload, I only select the files I have modified after an initial "Upload Entire Site? Yes/No" prompt. If you aren't selecting specific files to upload, and you're overwriting the files on your server with new copies of your entire local site each time, the mod dates would show as the date/time of your upload.
To select only the files that have changed since your last upload...
    1. Right click on your local root folder in the Files window under Local View
    2. Go to Select > Newer Local from the context menu
    3. Wait until DW is done talking to the server, it could take a while, when it's done, all of the files that have a newer mod date locally than their server counterparts will be selected
    4. Click the Put (up arrow) button
For me, this process never changes the dates of files that aren't part of the upload.

  • How can I change the aspect ratio

I connected my new Apple TV 2 to an LCD projector (Epson 9300) using a Belkin HDMI-to-DVI cable. The projector supports a variety of resolutions, but the aspect ratio is fixed at 4:3. The picture is therefore stretched vertically. How can I change the aspect ratio on the Apple TV?

How can I change the aspect ratio on the Apple TV?
You can't. The TV device plays content at the encoded aspect ratio. It is up to your viewing device to alter the display aspect if it can. Your primary options are to use a different viewing device capable of multiple aspect ratios, scaling, and/or zoom effects or you could simply letterbox your content when you encode it.

  • How can I change the aspect ratio of an image display

I am snapping a sequence of images and using imgPlot to diplay the images. However, due to my camera specifications [it's a Pulnix 9701 with Pixel Size 11.6μm (H) X 13.3μm (V)], the image I get displayed is elongated in the horizontal direction, i.e. if I snap an image of a square, I get a rectangle on my computer display.
How can I change the aspect ratio of the display on my computer? The only parameters I have seen so far just control what portion of the image is acquired or diplayed, but none actually changes the aspect ratio.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are using an analog camera, you can set the aspect ratio in MAX. This will correct for non-square pixels.
If you are using a digital camera, I don't think there is a way to fix it during acquisition. You could resample the image to correct the ratios, but that would be a slow, time consuming process.
One other possibility is that your computer monitor is in a mode which is not a standard 4x3 configuration. For example 640x480 and 800x600 are 4:3 ratios. 1200x1024 is not, which tends to distort your displayed images.

One way to to put the videos into an iDVD slideshow
and set iDVD's Slideshow preferences to always scale slides to TV Safe Area.
However, some users have reported that the audio quality using this method is lessened.  I've not noticed it but then I don't have a good ear when it comes to that sort of thing. If you add more than one video in the same slideshow do not select any transition.

How can I check and change the size of photo or doc in iPhone or any other app

You would need software form a third party to have this option.  The free software that comes with the 8600 doesn't have an option for that. Vuescan is the only software I could find that says it works with your pritner and has a descreen option.  You have to purchase it, but it will give you more advanced options than the software that came with the printer.

  • How do I change the aspect ratio on Final Cut Pro X?

Whenever I upload new media (regardless of what ratio it was filmed in) it plays in letterbox format. I would like to change the aspect ratio to 16:9. Thanks.

Please open the clip in the QT player and post a screen shot of the movie inspector. Post a screen **** of what you're seeing in the viewer.
You keep saying upload, do you mean import?

  • Can I change the aspect ratio of existing projects?

Over the past few years, I created a number of iDVD projects of special occasions. I guess the default aspect ration in the older versions of iDVD was 4:3. I now have a widescreen TV and would like to view these videos in 16:9 mode. The TV can change aspect ratios but it distorts the video. Is there a relatively easy was to redo IDVD projects to change the aspect ratio to widescreen?

Depends on your goals here. You can duplicate what your widescreen TV and do fairly easily but you would still end up with screen distortion if you use the entire 4:3 display area. It is is also reasonably easy to crop your 4:3 aspect to a 16:9 area within the 4:3 viewing area and burn this to a DVD. While this would prevent distortion, part of your viewing area would be lost and the result would be the same as using the the "Zoom" display on your widescreen TV. A third option might be to select a 16:9 viewing area within the original 4:3 display area. Unfortunately, this would would normally require an advanced editing application or cropping and scaling either as a whole or in selected segments. In either case it requires a much greater effort on the part of the user.
In short, actually changing an aspect ratio from is original aspect is either easy but causes distortion or it is difficult and time consuming. Further, in either case you are merely duplicating what your TV can already do. If you don't want distortion, use 16:9 "sourced" (either original or cropped) content. If you want to reduce the distortion (and your particular TV has the option), use the "Justify" viewing option which applies little or no distortion at the center of the viewing area and most distorion towards the left-right edges of the screen. Otherwise learn to live with the distortion and decide whether you prefer the distortion being applied to the DVD or just on the viewing screen.

my ipad2 is asking old id password, when i go to forget password link for that id then I am not getting any mail to reset the same. Please help how can i remove or change the old id.

You cannot remove or change the old ID. This is Find My iPhone Activation Lock. You need to recover the credentials for the Apple ID originally used to activate the iPad.

  • How can I edit or change the name of a bookmark in the bookmark library window?

How can I edit or change the name of a bookmark in the bookmark library window? I can figure out just about everything else I can do in the window, but can't seem to edit a bookmark.
    thank you

In the Bookmarks Manager you can change the properties of a bookmark in the Details pane at the bottom right.<br />
That Info pane has a More/Less button to show or hide extra properties.
    * You can change the Properties (including the name) of a Bookmark or Tag in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom of the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks: Shift+Ctrl+B) after selecting an item. You can rename a tag by selecting the Tags folder in the left panel and change the name in the Info pane at the bottom right.
    * You can make changes to a Bookmark in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or in the side bar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks, Ctrl+B) via the Properties entry in the right-click context menu.
    * You can open a bookmark in a tab and click the yellow (blue on Mac) star in the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and see in which folder a bookmark is located.

  • Camileo S10 - how to change the aspect ratio to 16:9

Does anyone know how to change the aspect ratio when making movies with the arcsoft software included with the S10!!!!!
    Won't let me select 16:9 only 4:3!!!
Not sure why as when you play the recording back directly through the telly it does it in 16:9 so I know it's being recorded in the right ratio!!

You cannot change the aspect ratio because you record at full hd 1080. The S10 records in format 1440/1080 at full hd, wich means 4/3. The S10 is not capable to record in full hd at 1920/1080 (this is 16/9 full hd). It is simple:
Camileo S10 record 1440 pixels on horizontal and 1080 pixels on vertical. The aspect ratio is 4/3.
Answer for your question: if you want to see in 16/9 format use HD2 (720p) for recording.
    Bye.

In non tech language if you have a bell Internet thing then you just go to settings and wifi and it should show something like bell... And if you have something else then there's a big chance you would need a wireless router. Go to the source they have cheap ones.

  • How do I change the aspect ratio of source video in the event library?

I’ve imported video to iMovie 08 from a Canon Mini DV MD235 video camera. The video is recorded in widescreen format and plays back in widescreen when viewed from the iMovie event library (prior to doing any video editing). However, when I delete rejected frames from any particular video clip in the event library the video clip is automatically pillarboxed (i.e. switched from widescreen to 4:3 format). This squashes the video horizontally, stretches it vertically and leaves vertical black bars to the left and right of the video during playback. This automatic change in aspect ratio is occurring to the source video in the event library.
I’d be grateful for any help / advice on how I can convert the edited clips back to widescreen aspect ratio, so they display in the *event library* as they did when first imported into iMovie.

I don’t really want to clog up my hard drive with unwanted video and it’s easier to edit it from within iMovie.
Have you considered manually importing only portions of the clips you actually plan to use? Or, if you must import the entire clip, have you considered trimming externally in an application like MPEG Streamclip which will allow you to set frame level in/out points and then perform a "Save As..." operation that stores the select range of frames to an MOV file container retaining the proper flag?
Is there anything I can do from within iMovie to activate the 16:9 setting for these as yet unedited clips, so the same pillarboxing doesn’t happen?
Not sure what you mean by "unedited" here. If the files have been destructively split, the flag is gone and there is nothing you can do about it but re-compress. If you mean they are imported but as of yet whole and still contain their flags, then you have two options. The first is to edit non-destrctively within iMovie '08 and the second would be to do the trimming externally.
This second option is really fairly simple. Just close iMovie '08. Open MPEG Streamclip and load a clip you want to trim. Set your in and pout points, select the "Save As..." option, and store the files in the original Events folder with a new name. I would also recommend you perform these trims in their original time sequence so the "creation" date time groups (Finder attributes) are in time order also. When done with the loaded clip either delete it from the "Event" folder or move it to an archival location. When done with the last clip, close MPEG Streamclip, delete the Cache and Thumbnail folders from the Event folder, open iMovie '08 again, and go get a cup of coffee or tea while the files are re-thumbnailing. DO NOT DO THIS TO ANY EVENT WHICH CONTAINS FILES ALREADY USED IN ANY PROJECT. (I.e., this must be done before you start the actual project editing process.)
It seems odd to me that iMovie is doing this.
I suspect that as the application was originally written as an NLE, non-destructive, "by reference" application, the writers/updaters "overlooked" this facet when adding a "destructive" routine and did not provide for checks of this flag nor provide for copying it re-written segments.

  • Can I change the aspect ratio of the storyboard template in Pages to 16x9?

Every time I try to drag a side of the storyboard panel it keeps the aspect ratio constrained to 4:3.  I'd like to make it more rectangular to fit my 16x9 storyboards.  Suggestions?

    Jason,
With object(s) Selected, open an instance of the Metrics Inspector and deselect "Constrain Proportions".

  • Export to Media Encoder Changes the Aspect Ratio

    Hi,
How can I create an animation at a ratio of 720x576 (or any other size) without Premiere Pro changing it the moment I send it to export to make the animation?
I have a brief for an animation at 720x576, I have created a sequence of images for the animation - at 720 x 576 - I have created a sequence in Premiere Pro CS4 at a size of 720x576 -  it looks okay except for vertical black bars at either side - but the moment I export it to the media encoder and it renders it out - the image is all crunched up as if the height is 720 and the width is 576 - wrong!
(P.S. I used Premiere Pro CS2 at Uni and it was fine because I could tell Premiere to use or not use Square Pixels and I could tell it a custom pixel ratio and it would do as I said - CS4 seems to ignore me or just not give me any of the options I need.)
    Help?
I have searched in Faq's and around the Forum but found nothing that seems to relate to my problem.

As Ann states, if one gets letterboxing, or pillarboxing, there is a mis-match. It can be in the Aspect Ratio, (pixel x pixel dimensions of the Frame Size), or the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio). These MUST match 100%. If you have Square Pixels in your animation, then you MUST choose Square Pixels in your Sequence setting. If you do not find an exact match in the normal Presets, you will want to choose Desktop, where you CAN adjust almost all attributes for the Sequence to match your source footage.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
