How can I listen to the music/songs or watch the movies in my iTunes library if I've damaged/lost my iPod and use a system-reovered/new computer?

I accidentally dropped my iPod Classic 160 GB into the toilet
bowl of my home sometime ago, and unfortunately enough,
as misfortunes seldom come singly, I got a serious problem
with my computer ( an HP Desktop) and had to do the system
recovery which, as you know, removes everything in the system
drive. After having reinstalled iTunes, I thought I should be able
to listen to the music I kept in the Library of iTunes, but I don't
see any of my music/songs or movies there. Thus come my
three questions below:
1) How can I locate and enjoy the music or movies I saved in
the iTunes Library with a computer after its system recovery
or even a new computer?
2) Like the current situation I'm in, when my iPod is damaged
or lost, can I still enjoy the music or movies saved in the
iTunes Library from my computer ( meaning without an iPod)
if I have the iTunes application installed in it? How? Do I have
to sign in my account? Sign in with my e-mail address saved
in my account? Where can I find the sign-in webpage of iTunes?
(Please provide me with the related link of the webpage.)
3) The above issue brings up another question, are the music/songs
and movies as well as other programs in the iTunes Library saved
in my computer or in Apple's server?
Please, with your kind patience, let me know as detailed as possible.
And also let me know what Apple's e-mail address I can use to ask
for support on such issues as described above? Although I always
prefer asking for support or help by e-mail, I would also appreciate
if you could let me know the phone number I can use to ask for
such help.
Best regards,
Lawrence Wood

System Recovery generally assumes you have backed up your data somewhere first. If not, you're in trouble.
Depending on your region you can recover most of your previous iTunes purchases. Install iTunes. Use Store > Authorize This Computer... and Store > Sign In... then select iTunes Store in the left-hand column and click Purchased in the Quick Links section on the right. You should now be looking at a list of past purchases that you can download to your computer.
See also: HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your purchase history is preserved on Apple's servers. Anything you ripped from CD or downloaded from elsewhere was stored on your computer and should have been backed up.
There is no live telephone support for iTunes issues. For problems with a particular purchase contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support. For general issues with usage this is the place to get help.

  • I'm trying to move 2 different iTunes library's (my PC crashed) from an iPod and iPod Touch to my iMac via a 3rd party app. Will I be able to use this app on the 2 new administrator accounts that I will set up?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! The app I'm thinking of using cost $35 and is supposed to move everything from the device to my imac, but will each administrator acct be able to use it? Is there another way?

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved.  That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

I bought an album on my iPhone and it never transferred to my iTunes account. It has disappeared now and I'm not allowed to buy it again. How can I find my missing music album or have the option to purchase it again?

    Hello bubblegirl2,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your purchased album.
First, I recommend trying to download the album from you list of past purchases.  Use the steps in the section titled "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC > iTunes Store" in the following article:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you have tried those steps and still do not see the album, it may be that the album is hidden.  Follow the steps below in iTunes on your computer to check if it is hidden and unhide it:
    To unhide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign in.
Choose Store > View My Account. (You may be asked to enter your password again).
On your Account Information summary, scroll down to the "iTunes in the Cloud" section and click Manage.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, TV shows, Apps, or Books from the top.
Click the Unhide button next to the item you would like to restore.
Note: If the item you are unhiding is not already downloaded on your computer locally, it will begin downloading automatically.

  • How can I transfer music from my old iphone 4 to the new iphone 5S without having the music synced to my laptop (e.g. my itunes library is empty)?

How can I transfer music from my old iphone 4 to the new iphone 5S without having the music on the old phone synced to my laptop (e.g. my itunes library on the laptop is empty) ?
I tried the "Transfer Purchases" option - however this only worked for apps - not sure if I'm missing some sort of setting.
I do not want to use iCloud as I do not have enough space for my music.
    Thanks!

You cannot. The music must be in the iTunes library first. See these User Tips:

  • ITunes Match: How can I tell if a matched song is from the correct album?

Since iTunes Match uses my album art and metadata, is there a way to see the album art of the matched item from iTunes?
I have ripped hundreds of classical music CDs through the years into iTunes, and they all have album art (not from iTunes Match).   Now that I have signed up for iTunes Match, how can I confirm that a matched item from iTunes is from the correct album?
I have read that the matching algorithm isn't perfect and can match to the wrong item.   I have recently upgraded the quality of all my ripped music by downloading all the matches from iTunes Match, and replacing my local CD rips (I have backups).
So, if I ripped Beethoven's 9th by Herbert Von Karajan, is there a way to see the album art of the matched music from iTunes, so that I can confirm it didn't match the item to Beethoven's 9th by Bruno Walter?
Does the matching algorithm use song length/duration, or is it only using wave form sampling?
    Thanks!
    Paul

    Thanks for the help Jim.
I'm not having any troubles with artwork changing, but I wish I were, because if the artwork changed then that would allow me to detect if the correct tracks are being matched.
I'm worried about waveform matching with classical music because I can have 2 pianists or 2 orchestras that play the same piece so it seems that the waveforms would be very similiar.   I have many CDs of the same pieces of music but by different performers.  For example, both performers play on a piano and both play the same piece of music.  Wouldn't the waveforms be very similar?
So that's why I'm wondering if there is some way to get the artwork of the piece being matched, so that I can see what album it is coming from.
Do you think if I deleted my artwork and then matched, that I'd get the artwork injected into my matched music?
Thanks again for entertaining all my questions.  Really appreciate it.

  • How can I change "get info" on songs purchased through the Cloud?

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I have been unable to change any album info on songs that were purchased through the Cloud.  this wasn't always the case. As we know, iTunes sometimes places songs/albums, etc., in the wrong category or genre.  I'm simply trying to place it in the proper or desired catetory or place all songs on one album after iTunes split the album.  But, when I right click on GET INFO, all of my options to make any changes are GREYED out and I can't select anything.  Only the Summary window and the album artwork window are accessible.
After doing some research I determined that it is indeed only those songs that have the CLOUD icon beside them.  I truly don't understand the CLOUD and how it works enough to even know what I did to change it...or how to change it back! And before the upgrade, that cloud icon didn't exist.  Thoughts? ideas?  Hope this all makes sense.

    Hi,
I presume you mean songs purchased from iTunes Store.
It would appear that you have not downloaded the tracks to your computer. Once you have downloaded the tracks you will be able to change info.

  • How can I add more than one song to fit the length of the slideshow

I would like to add more than one song to my slideshow. I do not want to repeat the same song more than once. Is there a way to add more than one song to a slideshow?

Great - unfortunately it is not intutative - but simple - once you know the secret - and at least in iphoto '08 it acts like you can select multiple songs using the command key but it only plays the first one

  • How can I delete/re-add music w/out losing the custom art?

My problem is I have a huge music library. Greater than 160 gigs. So even the largest iPod, which I own, won't hold the entire thing.
I know that I can manually go through, prevent the iPod from syncing manually, and click which albums I want to sync and not sync. But in reality, it would take lots of clicking to go through and change up my collection entirely every so often. I mean it's possible, but I am looking for an easier way that won't lead me down the path of carpo-tunnel syndrom so quickly.
I am an ex-Zune user. What I used to do with the Zune software, is create 3-4 different folders, and seperate my music 3-4 different ways. Load up one folder, and when it was time for the next, I'd just delete the music entirely from the Zune software, and add the next folder to the library. Then when I connected the Zune, it'd sync, get rid of the original folder's music and load up the next. That way it's just a few clicks to change out hundreds of albums.
Will there be a way to achieve this with iTunes, but keep all the custom art? That will be hudreds & hundreds of CD's art that I will need to fix if I have to fix it every time I load one of the other folders.

If you paste in custom artwork it should be emdedded in the tags. Store downloaded art is only stored in the Album Artwork\Download folder.
I've written a script to create/update Folder.jpg album artwork in response to this thread - http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12158746#12158746
I should be able to rework this script to embed artwork into any file that is missing it, but given it's nearly 4am here I'm going to get some shut eye just now.
BTW rather than moving stuff in & out of the library, move it in and out of playlists, then choose a selection of playlists that will fit on the device.

  • How do I take the music from my iPod and load it onto a new computer?

I had to clear the contents from my hard drive and reload everything.  When I restart iTunes, I can't get my music back.  I don't care if it's on this computer again or another computer, but does anyone have any advice how I can just get my music?  I have the iPod with all the music on it.

    Import into computer
