How can I load photos on a new iPad for a customer?

Now this is something that I've done before. But iOS has gone through some changes since then, and now I can't remember what to do.
Basically, I have a new iPad which was purchased for a customer. I need to load some photos on the iPad for the customer, then give to to them to do whatever they're going to do with it. Trouble is, I seem to remember being able to do this through iPhoto in the past, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Now it seems you have to go through iTunes, which means setting it up with my iTunes account, which I don't want to do.
So, my question is, what is the best way to load these photos onto the iPad so that when the client sets things up they won't lose the images. Can I just set things up as usual, then manually sign out of my iTunes account on the iPad?

I'd really suggest you not try to do this. An iPad can only be synched to a single computer, so if you sync the iPhotos on your system (and synching has always been done through iTunes), when your customer takes the iPad to his/her own computer and syncs, it will erase the content (i.e. photos) you put on the iPad.
There may be workarounds, but I'd strongly suggest you just let the customer sync the photos him/herself. That's going to be a lot less headache.

If the photos were originally synced from your computer then they can only be deleted by removing them from where they were synced from (e.g. the folder on your computer that they are in) and re-syncing.
Photos taken on the iPad, copied via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - when viewed full screen there should be a trash icon in the top right corner; when viewed as thumbnails press the icon in the top right (a box with an arrow coming out of it), touch the ones that you want to delete, and then press the Delete button at the top of the screen.

for some reason I can not load photos from iphoto back onto my canon camera anymore...
situation: canon camera is connected to mac book pro. I have imported photos from the camera into iPhotos.
unfortunately deleted them from the camera.
now i would like to transfer them back onto the camera.
It does not let me drag and drop the photos from iphoto to the camera.
and I can not find a way to more the photos back.

The folks in the iPhoto community forum wait for questions like this. In any case from iPhoto select your photos. Then select export. Navigate to your USB sick and that's it.

Assuming it's in a supported format (which is likely), simply sync your iPad to iTunes on your computer. Make sure you have specified that you would like to sync movies on the "movies" tab on the top right of the iTunes display (when your iPad is plugged in and its row highlighted).

Since then however, I have purchased an iPhone 6 (128GB) and storage is not as much of an issue. My question is... How can I add my photos back to my iPhone in the same order that they were before I offloaded them to my laptop? When I have tried to get the photos back on my iPhone, they are added as new photos with today's date and they do not sort correctly.

From your post I understand that you have imported photos from your previous iPhone into iPhoto, and now you would like to sync them back in the order they were taken to your new iPhone. Regardless if you are syncing albums, events or the entire iPhoto Library, the photos do sync over with the same photo date that appears in iPhoto.

I took all the pic's of my kids using a works iPhone and uploaded them using photo stream. I am no longer with that company and don't have access to the phone. I can see the backup file in iCloud, but when I switch photo stream on with my new iPad, the pictures aren't downloading to it.

Photo Stream is a syncing service, not a storage service, so if your company deleted the photos from the phone they would also delete from the stream.
Photos are only available for 30 days, after which they "roll off" and are deleted. The backup file that you can see is not the Photo Stream, as this does not count towards your storage space.

If your Pro came with install CD's or DVD's, you would use them to install the OS that came with the computer, and then upgrade to Mavericks. If Snow Leopard came with your Pro, as it says in your profile, that should work.
If your Pro did not originally come with installer discs, then you would need an OSX recovery disk assistant

Another option is a Mavericks installer disk, which you can make yourself with DiskMaker X
Once you get the Mavericks installer downloaded, but before you install it, make an installer with DiskMakerX so you'll have it for the next time you need it. The installer deletes itself after you do the install.
