How can I login with a broken letter of my keyboard used in the password?

I broke the letter "i" from my keyboard and I need to use it when a login! Therefore, I cant login. How can I substitute it? Is there any character?

Take another physical keyboard, connect it, then change password with something without letter i. From now on, you may use that mac without letter i.
After logging in, you may use Keyboard Viewer with your mouse and may type i as well, if need be.

TC password or disk password in the TC.. no problem.. soft reset.

If you encrypted the backup in TM and have forgotten that password you are doomed.. there is no way to recover it I know of.. there is a warning.. very clear.. do not forget the password.

Superdrive - How can I tell if its broken or I'm just using it wrong?

I've had my Quad PPC G5 for a while now, and the Superdrive has always been flakey...
When I try to burn my vids using DVD Studio Pro mostly (but other software is used), it says it burns, but when move it to other machines or my TV, the vids freeze midway... When i copy the files to my PC and burn from there using Roxio, it burns fine & plays fine... I'm afraid to use the Superdrive now as I've given my stuff to people and they can't play it..
I also have problems ejecting discs once theyre in the drive...If i have nothing in there, eject works fine, but if i put discs (any discs) in there, I have to reboot and hold down the eject button to get them out...
I have AppleCare, but before i call, I'm hoping it is just a matter that I;m doing something wrong or using cheap DVDs (Generic DVD-R's 16X speed)... Buit that wouldn't explain away the eject issue...

I notice that you are running OS 10.4.6. How long has it been since you did a system reinstall? With regard to the eject function, it could very well be that you have some corrupt files within the OS. Could be that a repair with Disk Utility could help. Beyond this, an Archive and Install may be useful, followed by (preferred) a clean system reinstall. A simple re-update might be all that is needed.....
But, since the drive has displayed the problem from the beginning, it does tilt the balance towards a hardware problem. Having said this, depending on the original OS version (10.4.2?), and the update history, the problem could lie within the firmware, or, system software.
Does the problem occur in a different user account? Setting up a second user account, with Admin privileges, is a good trouble shooting technique. If no problem, then it is in your account only. If the same, the saga continues.......
So- first, I would run Disk Utility (booted from install disk) and repair the hard drive. I would also repair permissions. Following this (after testing the drive) I would try a re-application of the 10.4.6 Combo Update:

Should this fail, I think I would be inclined to use my Applecare.
As for the disk reading and writing- take note of the makers that are listed on the bottom of the review (1st look conclusion) page that I linked. Can't go wrong with them. Also, look at user responses on the following (select format):

I notice you are looking for solutions other than restoring, the article does outline how you can use iCloud's Find My iPhone:
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.

How can I make cuable sound effects on seperate tracks for use in the theatre

I need to make cueable music and sound effects for a play I am producing. I wonder if I can do this with FCE. The effects need to be on separate tracks on a CD so that the guy running the show can skip to the next track and push play. Help!

How can I access my iCloud email account when I don't remember the password and Apple won't accept the answer to my security question?

I set up an email account with " @me.com". I get a wrong password message when I try to log in. How can I safely get a broken-off head phone jack out of the receptacle?

The head phone jack broke off in the iPad. It is too far down to remove with tweezers. Any suggestions on how to get it out safely? I sent it to the company and was told that unless I fixed the dent on the corner and scratches to the charging base at a cost of $255, they could not fix it. So now I am trying to figure out how to get it out myself.

How can I allow a user to control my Edge Animation using only the scrollbar?

I have seen a few examples of an Edge Animation being conrolled by the scrollbar, and I am wondering how I could achieve the same effect.

I have searched the corners of the internet and have found 2 or 3 different tutorials, but none of them have proven successful.
In basic terms, I am creating an animation that involves a character getting from Point A to Point B, from the beginning of my timeline to the end.
Rather than exporting my animation so that it plays automatically, by itself, I would like for a user to scroll vertically, and the playing of the animation moves in conjunction with the scroll bar.
As the user scrolls from top to bottom on the scrollbar, the character in my animation moves from Point A to Point B.
Also, if the user stops scrolling... the character will stop moving as well.
In addition, I would like the surrounding area, outside of my stage, to remain hidden. I do not want to allow the user the ability to scroll around and see off of my designated stage area. I only want the scroll bar to act as a playhead for the animation.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How can I find out which Apple ID's I've used in the past?

I'm trying to update the software on my iPad Air and my ID has been rejected 8 times. This ID works on the App Store, iTunes, iCloud, and any other place it's needed. When I bought this unit in January I was using a different ID as was the case when I last updated the software. I have no record of previous ID's I've used. Any ideas how I can find out?
