How can I make a half-circle line?

I'm finding I can do simple but marvelous graphics with Pages. One thing I would like to be able to do (in a particular graphic) is create a 'half' circle: as if I could take a standard Pages circle, remove the fill, and then ERASE one half of the remaining 'line' or 'stroke' circle (as one can easily do in Photoshop).
Would someone know if this is even possible? Or what other app I might use to create a half circle on some kind of transparent bg that would import into my Pages layout document?
Ben

Though new to this discussion forum, I've read all the answers posted so far to your original question. Yet, another technique for drawing semicircles or other complicated figures can be suggested by taking a picture of a part of the screen that you select. To do this either use a keyboard shortcut (such as Cmnd Ctrl Shft 4) for copying a picture to the clipboard with the Finder or use a different shortcut (such as Cmnd Shft A) for saving a picture to the desktop with the Grab utility.
The clipboard image can be pasted directly into Pages (use Cmnd V), but the desktop picture would need two steps (use Cmnd Shft V for selecting and inserting). While it may be possible to change the background transparency of a desktop picture, I have been able to satisfy my drawing needs so far simply by continuing to draw over the opaque images that have been pasted from the clipboard and then perhaps taking another picture. In either case, it is important to keep the selection handles of the final group as conservatively constrained as possible.

  • How can I make two half page documents?

    I have a full page flyer.  I want to make it half page with two flyers.  I tried making two columns and cutting the page in half, but the borders are wrong.  How can I make two half page documents?

    You can do it with columns, just make the gutter twice the width of the outside margins.
    However being a Flyer why not just create one on the left using Textbooks and Shapes then group that and option shift drag it sideways to the right to make a copy on the right?

  • How can I make a custom one-line-per-test rpt using TestStand?

    I have written a 1-line-per-test report in another LabView application.  How can I do the same within TestStand 4.0?  I would like to display the usual information:  Description, Measurement Reading & Units, Pass/Fail, Lower Limit, and Upper Limit all in a concise, one line rpt.  Isn't most of this data available within TestStand?

    I would have figured this to be a pretty common use case, so I was wondering if anyone has made/edited a report sequence that does this?
    For example, the default report text looks something like:
    UUT Report
    Serial Number:                MACADDRGoesHere
    Date:                         Monday, September 22, 2008
    Time:                         9:48:05 PM

  • How can i make random but custom lines as particles?

    Hello, which kind of setting, option or effect can acomplish something like random lines that look like a wave/twirl floating around could let me make an animation or appearance like the photo attached here?
    I already made a custom line that moves like a wave (sightly deforming the rect line) and i tried to replicate the effect, but the lines doesnt get any kind of depth like the reference image, for this i made a custom line in another layer, duplicated the object alongside the view, and move the elements around the place.
    All of this i made it manually, but now i'm trying to find a more automatic solution for this, or a better option too.

    You can create a custom particle using a nested comp. Stroke + Glow or any number of techniques can be used to create your wavy lines. You may also want to try using a shape layer and the repeater. It may take more than one instance of your squiggle line shape to achieve the effect you want.

  • How can I make a simple circle in html5/css3?

    I have cs5 and the html5 pack installed. I draw a circle on a new document. Now what?

    You are right canvas can be used to render rastar graphics, however we don't generate the canvas code directly from Illustrator. Instead this pack lets you mark some elements within a design as Cavnas,  when the SVG output is generated those elemented would be treated as canvas within SVG so that you can have pixel level control on those elements.
    Please refer to http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/illustrator_html5/illustrator_html5_userguide.pdf for details on this and other features of the pack.

    How can I make a gray box or gray screen in Pages over a few lines of text?

    Thanks. Almost what I was looking for.
    While that makes for a gray over the lines, it still does not form a box.
    Any other suggestions to form a solid rectangular gray box?

  • How can I make a tent with two halves of the info ( and pictures one direction and the other half the opposite direction ( towards each other of course)

    How can I make a table tent in PAGES with both halves of the info and pictures turned towards each other?  I can figure out how to turn just the picture upside down  AND the text sideways, but not upside down with the picture included so that it is at the top and not the bottom!

    Layout the picture and text (in text boxes) the way you want them in the lower half of the page. Then Select All and Group them. With the Group selected, type Cmnd+D to duplicate it and then hold down the Shift and Command keys and grab a corner box (you’ll see a double headed arrow) and rotate the box until it’s upside down. (Holding down the Shift key will constrain the rotation to 45 and 90 degree positions.) Now drag the box into position in the top half of the page.

  • How can I make my user input on the same line as the question?

    The only way I know of doing it is
    System.out.println ("Please enter an uppercase letter of the English Alphabet: ");
              letter = dataIn.readLine ();But that makes Please enter an uppercase letter of the English Alphabet:
    **User input here, a line down**So how can I make it all fit into one line with this sort of layout:
    Please enter an uppercase letter of the English Alphabet:  **USER INPUTS HERE, SAME LINE**

    change your call from println to print.
    check the API docs for this stuff, it tells you everything you need to know.

  • How can I make a line at 40 degree angle in Keynote 6

    How can you make a line of 40 degrees (or anywhere between 40 to 45) angle in the new Keynote 6.2.2. It seems they took away that nice feature from the previous version. When I move one end of a line, it locks onto 45 when I get near that angle, and jumps off directly to 34 when I try to move away. Previously you could click on a line to transform the ends into red spots, and move them independently to any angle or length. Now it locks onto 45, or 135 or 90 etc. I don't have any of the guides on or any other feature. This is supposed to happen only when holding shift key (which is also a great feature). If it locks onto the magic angles without holding shift, then there is no sense if having that feature at all.

    Press the command key when dragging, this switches off snapping and allows continuous placement.

  • I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen.  How can I make the sound alert work?

    I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen.  How can I make the sound alert work?

    I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S.  I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds.  After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?"  I didn't even know such a function existed.  Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
    To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual.  If it is green, turn it off.  You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
    This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu).  I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
    I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere.  Good luck!

    win.orientation = "column";
    var form1 = win.add ("edittext", undefined, "");
    form1.onChanging = function(){
      if(form1.text.search("\n") == true){
       form2.active = true;

    win.show();
    How can i make it auto line alignment in ScriptUI?
    Is it possible?

    Your answer is not exactely I want.
    But I got hint from your answer.
    All I want is "How I can split multilined text into dozen edittext field?"
    So I can make this from your sourcecode.
    Your answer is so helpful.
    Thank you.
    var win = new Window ("dialog", "test");
    win.orientation = "column";
    var charLen=30;
    var copytext = [];
    var form0 = win.add ("edittext", [0, 0, 150, 200], "", {multiline:true});
    form0.height = 100;
    var form1 = win.add ("edittext", undefined, "",{readonly:true});
    form1.characters = charLen;
    var form2 = win.add ("edittext", undefined, "",{readonly:true});
    form2.characters = charLen;
    var form3 = win.add ("edittext", undefined, "",{readonly:true});
    form3.characters = charLen;
    form1.active = true;
    form0.onChanging = function(){
        form1.text = form0.text.split('\n')[0]
    form2.text = form0.text.split('\n')[1]

    After doing this my iPhone got stoke in the loading circle. How can I make it work again?

    Try connecting it to your computer and restoring it by going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking on Restore (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414).  If that doesn't work you'll have to put it into recovery mode and restore it, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
