i work a hd project and after we will make a dvd video. if i export a mov and convert it with toast titanium the quality is bad. if i make it dvd studio pro hd dvd mac and pc is open but dvd player does not play it. and the other version dvd studio pro convert from 16/9 to 4/3. but i don't like it. the other one i send to compressor and chose the dvd/hd dvd:mpeg-2 30 minutes it exports mv2 not vob(audio ts video ts)
so i want to make a high quality hd dvd video how can i do that?

I don't know about NTSC but there is a nice PAL solution for SD 16:9 for ordinary DVDs. The 16:9 image becomes 720x576 pixels. So the pixels are each quite wide, and the horizontal resolution is less than the vertical resolution, but at least no pixels are wasted as with letterbox.
A semi-solution is to make a HD-DVD. That format has been abandoned but Apple software pretends otherwise. Apple Compressor does compressions at around 20 Megabits/second data rate specifically for HD-DVD, and Apple DVD Studio Pro makes HD-DVDs. For short projects, less than around 30 minutes, the HD-DVD can be made on a normal DVD. (I did this for a 40 minute project by cutting the bitrate somewhat.) The quality is almost equal to Blu-Ray, but who can play it? People with well equipped Apples can.

How can i make iMovie -- iDVD quality better??

I have search about the idvd quality in this site but i can't solve my problem yet.
I had a sony DV cam which is PC3, Pal. And I use the imovie..import...edit, then use "share" to idvd...then burn...
So I play the finished DVD in a DVD player, i find many many pixels, the quality of the DVD movie inside is like a VCD. In fact, my DV cam is not the lastest and fine quality, but i surpose the DVD movie should be same quality as my DV cam.
So I use another method to test whether my DV cam....(is model too old, something wrong with my DVcam...)
(1) In imovie, use "share" to my DV cam tape
(2) then i use another converter which is borrow from my friend, is like a DVD burner and player. which can convert the DV tape or VHS...directly convert and save in a DVD disc.
(3) after burning the file. the quality is fine, just like what i shoot from my DV cam.
So what's the problem?? Is the convertor between imovie and idvd not good enough??
Or I need to use other methods? for example, use the imovie export a quicktime movie, then use the toaster make the DVD or VCD is better ?

That is an option, too, but I use that only when troubleshooting.
iMovie automatically creates a reference movie when it saves at iMovie_project/Shared Movies/iDVD/*.mov. Using the ref.mov instead of a full quality export saves time and HD space.
iMovie sends that ref.mov to iDVD when you press the "Create iDVD project" in iMovie's iDVD tab. BUT: DON'T let iMovie render still images if it prompts it: as a very old nasty bug, it will ruin your stills!!

You can also use that ref.mov as an input for 3rd party apps. MPEG Streamclip and JES Deinterlacer can "see" it inside the package but with some other apps you may need to copy it out of the package 1st.
Notice also that some 3rd party apps (MPEG Streamclip and JES Deinterlacer do this correctly) may unexpectedly honor the deinterlaced playback setting of the ref.mov so you must uncheck that flag with QT Player before using it as in input. Otherwise the output will be deinterlaced.

How can I get a higher quality export from Imovie - QT & iDVD came out bad

The playback on my imovie came out corrupted but it transferred ok to Quick Time and I also burned a DVD but the quality is not very good. Any suggestions on how to get a better version. Please keep in mind that the imovie file is huge - 29Gig and the QT file compressed it down to 350Megs. The whole movie is running around 43 minutes. Any suggesstions are appreciated.

last questions: is your project set as "mpeg4" or

Hi - Yep I did use the crunched version for the dvd and have tossed it. I am now transferring a new version from imovie to QT under the pre set of high quality. Since this is the first time I have done a movie I am not sure what settings I would use under expert options - suggestions? I would love to tranfer the imovie right to idvd but at the moment I only have 8G left on my Mac so this would likely be a problem. The movie was exported from a mini DV.

I've heard a lot of options. I've tried writing to a perl script, I've read about signing an applet (which seems needlessly complicated). What I'm trying to do is make just a high scores list for the game as a whole. It will be one high scores list of 10 names/scores that will be there for the applet. I already have everything set up to read the scores and order the scores in the program, i just need to know what the best way to save them permanently for the next time they need to be used is. I have the scores saved in a string array and I could write all the code myself to get those strings set up in whatever format I may need. But I just need to know how to save them once the applet is closed.

How can I make iDVD with a H264(.mp4) video file???

I've got two files which is in .mp4 format, I tried to edited it in iMOVIES but it came up with only audio no video. So then I tried to put that two .mp4 video directly into iDVD, but it also didn't work. There is no problem when I try to view .mp4 file in quicktime player.
So if I have to changed the format to .avi , which software would be best?? I want to keep the quality of the original files but I have heard so many times that after changing the file format, the quality may not be the same as before.

OK, here are the results of my experimenting:
ffmpegX wasn't happy making the conversion and froze. I didn't try 'playing' with it to make it work. I guess I can't recommend this approached for you.
I DID have success creating a DVD from your file using Roxio's Toast Titanium 7 (you must have version 7 to do this).
It was a slow process - your 0:03:46 clip required abount an hour on my 1.33 G4 PowerBook. The process might have been slightly slowed because in addition from going from MPG-4 to MPG-2 (and converting the audio), it was also converting from PAL to NTSC (the source video is 25 fps).
In my opinion, the results looked pretty poor when viewed on a TV. About what I'd expect starting with a small (662x384 pixel), highly compressed MPG-4 image file.
Stick to viewing them on your computer with the VLC Media Player. You'll be a lot happier.

How can I make slides into movies to show on DVDs?

I have just scanned about a thousand of my 91 year old Dad's slides and have been trying to transfer them to discs, so that they can be easily played on a DVD player so that he doesn't have to go through that oldfashioned slide show procedure with the projector.
I scanned them, edited them using Photostudio and then dragged them into iMovie. 99 seemed to be the maximum number of photos I could get to burn onto a DVD. (Using Roxio Toast)
After a lot of trial and error, I thought I had done it successfully, but now find they don't work even as a slide show (clicking on from one to the other with the DVD remote), let alone as movies. I had arranged them into categories and made movies of about 50 each, with transitions.
The first major problem became apparent after the first few were done, when I realised that iMovie tends to prefer NTSC to PAL and sometimes reverts to NTSC of it's own accord. (I'm in Australia, where PAL is the standard)
I gave up on trying to select music to go with the photos, as when I tried to select the movie to burn, the music would not be there.
I found that about 10 seconds duration was best for each photo, and tried selecting all to add the same Ken Burns transition to each one. I thought by keeping each disc to only a few 'slide shows' of about 15 minutes duration each I had finally got it right, but apparently it won't play on Dad's DVD player.
I would like step-by-step instructions on exactly how I should go about this project, as it seems I will have to do it all again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It would really help if the machine you are using has iDVD. If it did you would use iMove to create slideshows then drag them into iDVD, customize the DVD with a them, music, etc. then burn the DVD.
You can also do all the slideshow (99 images each) right within iDVD, then burn the DVD.
Macs are great, but you need the right software, and iDVD is what you need to make DVDs.
There is a hack to be able to burn a DVd with iDVD using an external or non-supported burner.

For the end credits on a small movie, I would like the video clips to be much smaller, and the background to be black. I know how to make the clips smaller on the screen, and this is done by adjusting the wireframe.
I am trying to have the wireframe remain in its identical size and location across various clips but cannot figure how to do this other than change the wireframe independently for each single video clip, making it an approximate job.
Is there a way to ensure that the properties of the wireframe (size, position) remain constant for a series of clips? I have tried to find some properties settings for the wireframe which I could replicate for all clips but this search has proved unsuccessful.

PPT with embedded MP4 videos not being improted as a playable video - how can I make the MP$ play as a video?

I have a PPT slide presentation that has embedded MP4 videos (captured using SnagIt) in the presentation. When I import and convert, all my PPT slides convert with animations intact, but the videos are not playable and appear only as a 'static' slide.... I'm messing around with the trial version of Captivate hoping it can do what I think it can (like what I just described here) and am trying to cost-justify the purchase of this package to my management team -but I have to make sure it can do what we want it to do first - so far, no good - but I think I'm probably just missing something...any tips or suggestions?

One way to accomplish your goal would be to use what I call: The Camtasia Approach
Basically you play the presentation and use Captivate to record it. Camtasia operates that way with PPT.

I am really kind of new at this but my church makes DVD's of the services but some of my Sunday School teachers want to have a CD of the sermon. Does iDVD have the capability to burn just the audio tracks onto a CD?

No !
You first have to back-engineer the DVD to something the Mac can use eg StreamingDV
(I use Roxio Toast™ to do this) then convert this via QuickTime to .aiff 16-bit 44.1 kHz
then burn this onto a CD via eg iTunes.
An Analog copy from a DVD-player to the Mac Line-in and into an audiuo editor as Audacity (free on internet) then use this for the CD is easier and about as good as. (I can't differ)

How can I make my LR4.3 to support Video in Develop module?

Since I installed my Lightroom4 (v4.3), I am not able to edit video. The video will play in Library module, but as soon as I switched to DEVELOP module, the middle panel greyed out and 'Video is not supported in Develop' appeared.
Please somebody tell me how to make Lightroom to support video in develop module. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Lightroom doesn't support video in Develop, and never has. Only in Quick Develop.

How can I make adobe premeire 10 organizer display video clips

This is driving me crazy.
I have reinstalled the whole adobe photoshop/premeire programs and still nothing.
I am thinking this whole organiser thing ius a waste of good pixels because neither program needs the organizer.

Now the media panels did I think undergo a major change in PRE9 and I wonder if the update thumbnail got stripped out. If it did then it's going to need a feature request to stand any chance of it getting restored in a later version.

3D bar charts export as jagged PDFs - how can I make them smooth?

I want to export my 3D bar charts as PDFs, but they export without anti-aliasing or smooth vector lines. The bars are jaggy, not clean. How can I make them higher quality?
I've checked my system settings and those in Acrobat 7 Professional, the 'smoothing' is turned on. I can't find any similar posts here either.

Can I export a high quality DVD from iMovie?

Please help. I am making a short experimental film which will show in a gallery in a few weeks. I need the final product to be as high quality as possible. It will be projected on a big screen before an audience. Can I make a high quality DVD from iMovie? I have iMovie 08 and would like to upgrade it to iMovie 11 to get the most features. But I don't want to do a lot of work then find out I can't exhibit the final project properly. I have been reading about iMovie for days on this forum, but I can't get a handle on exactly what is the difference between all the versions. What do you suggest?

I should mention that my movie is made up entirely of still photos with lots of transitions, jump cuts, etc. I don't know if that makes a difference.
