How can I make a simple DVD in iDvd?

I have 17 video segments that I would like to autoplay in order and then have a simple titled menu come up at the end and so all 17 segments as thumbnails in case a reply of one of the segments is required.
THx for any thoughts...
Mike

You won't be able to get all 17 on one menu page. It will require a sub menu/s also. Most themes range from 6-12 buttons. But the good news is once you have compiled your iDvd project, you can drag and drop said movie to the first box while in map view within iDvd and it will play the dvd once inserted into most dvd players. The menu will indeed pop up at the end provided you do Not select the loop function also.
Hope this info helps but if not just come on back.

  • How can I make a simple slideshow on iDVD?

As opposed to the majority of Apple apps that are "user-friendly" I find using iDVD a very awkward, un-friendly application. It offers "drop zones" without me understanding what I should "drop" into them.
I just want to make a simple DVD of a slideshow with some background music ... nothing fancy. I don't need any theme and I don't need to add any movies.

To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1089
If you want something a bit more sophisticated:
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

  • S10e: How can I make my external DVD being detected to boot Recovery System

I bought an IDE-USB Adapter and connected a DVD to the Netbook. But the device is not found even by the BIOS, too.
So I can not install the System. In addition there will be no BIOS update available for LINUX to detect DVD drives if this is the problem.
How can I make my Recovery DVD run on my Lenovo Ideapad S10e?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You use a normal 5 1/4 " DVD/CD drive,.it needs 12V dc did you powered the drive... ?
So the adapter is not recognized, thats bad ....the usb-ide adapter is defective....
    The second question is...
Linux cant use any .exe files ...its not windows... thats normal...
so what will you install on it ?
Biosupdate ? is the only one .. i think.. but that is a problem for lenovo... i didnt see an biosupdater under linux
Why you buy those expensive ide-usb adapter ?
you can get a slimline cd usb drive is available for 25 $ (or 25€) on online shopper...
and you dont need a power adapter ...

  • How do I make a simple DVD with chapters?

I have a quicktime sequence that is saved with chapter markers exported from Final Cut Pro. The sequence is about 1hr30 min long, and has about 70 chapter markers. I just need a simple DVD that can play through the whole sequence, or have the ability to have an index where I can jump to any chapter. How can I do this...especially without using one of Apple's pre-designed templates? Is this something I could also do in iDVD?

How can I do this...especially without using one of Apple's pre-designed templates? Is this something I could also do in iDVD?
If you don't want to use an Apple-designed template, I'm not sure why you would want to do it in iDVD, as you can only use templates there.
You need to go through the tutorial, first of all, to get familiar with the program.
Then, you would import your movie that was exported with DVD chapter markers. Create however many menus you want (I would say 7-10) with 7-10 buttons on each. Link each button to hop to the appropriate chapter marker. Also provide a "play all" button on the first menu, or each menu, that links to the beginning of the track.
If you want video thumbnails, you'll need to size buttons accordingly and may need to have less buttons per menu.
PS: with that many chapters I'm not sure I'd classify this project as "simple." Simple in design, maybe, but it'll be quite a bit of work.

3 - "in range and coerce" - (note: you need to wire values above and below the orange line shown for the range you'd like)
4 - case structure: if "in range" is true, then take the value and put it into a new array (this new array only has the good values you want) (false case is blank)
     NOOOOOO!!!!
Step 1 and 2 are not necessary. Simply autoindex the original array at the loop boundary. Voila!
(an "index array" with the index wired to [i] is never needed. Autoindexing does the same thing and automatically determines the number of iteration, eliminating step 1).
The second array is not initialized, meaning it will grow without bounds of you run the VI many times. Every time the loop runs, the array is resized, requiring a new buffer allocation. The original code is much better, because it preallocates the output array, replaces elements, then strips the extra length at the end. For large datasets, the original code will be orders of magnitude faster.

  • How can I Burn a Simple DVD with Chapters and Menus out of My Home Videos.

I created an iMovie (unsig iMovie 10.0.2) of my daughter's volleyball season.  I inserted markers separating each game day, hoping these would create chapters in my DVD.  Then I did some research about DVD burning apps and finally downloaded BURN.  With Burn I created a DVD, but this DVD did not have chapters and also did not have a customizable menu.  The whole movie ended up as one 2 hour long chapter.
I have hundresd of family vacation on a hard drive stored and would like to start making iMovies of them to put on DVD for easy watching and forbackup  storing.
What is a simple way I can burn my iMovie with chapters onto a DVD?
My macbook pro did not come with iDVD so I dont have it.
    Thanks.

MY source is HD i beleive. I shot videos with an iPad Mini.
I ventured into this because I offered this DVD to several team parents, so they are waiting for me to give them the DVD.  While I was making it, I added subtitles, showing the game dates, game scores and stats of each player, so it came out really nice.  However, not to concern about quality, i have burt the video in a dual layer dvd in SD.  I dont have a blue ray burner nor media.
This made me want to do the same with my family vacations vieeos, whic now are a bunch of files in a hard drive, sort them by vacation and add titles like lications to actualy be abel to watch them on a dvd someday.
I have apple tv in the family room, but do not use to watch these videos, will look into that. However, I would still want to make the DVD's.
It seems odd how this, basic feature, has been dropped. I guess apple does not want us to use any more discs.
Still hoping I can do this, if not, I will have to gie away the DVDs with the 2 hour long video in a single chapter.

  • Exporting problem: How can I make a PAL DVD with NTSC footage?

    Hi everyone,
I need some help as I've been trying to burn a DVD for a couple of days now but it still isn't working. Here is my situation:
I shot a lot of standard definition DV with my Canon GL-2 (NTSC, bought in America) that I imported into the trial version of Premiere 5.5.
I edited the footage and set out to make a DVD with the footage that will play on PAL televisions as I live in Australia now and it's all PAL over here.
I exported the footage and put it onto Windows DVD Maker because the trial version of Premiere doesn't let you use Encore.
The footage looked great on Premiere and on the little preview that you get through Windows DVD Maker, but when I burnt the DVD and tried playing it on my TV it looked really bad.
The big problem was the color. Everything was much too red, particularly people's faces.
I assume the problem lies in my export settings, and I was hoping someome who has done this before could help me out. I tried a variety of settings, but they all looked bad and I'd prefer not to waste any more money on DVDs that look like hell.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me how I can get the DVD to look like it does on my computer? What setting would I need to apply? I have been all over the internet, looking at a lot of tutorials and forums, but havent found an answer yet.
    Thanks a bunch!
    Shawn
PS- My academic credentials have now been verified by Adobe, so if you know a way to do this using Encore, please let me know because in a few hours I will have access to that as well. Cheers!

Hey shooternz, thanks for the fast reply.
My DVD player is playing the DVDs so that's OK, the real problem is that they look so bad. I just bought a whole mess of DVDs because I thought I would just experiment while I was waiting to see if anyone could help me out, and the results have been frustrating. I tried it with all PAL settings and the first DVD I made was much better. That one didnt have all of the sections, just one of the chapters (I wanted to check quickly whether the setting I had was a good one, so I just put a short 7 minute clip on). Encouraged, I tried burning the whole disc using the same settings, but it came out crappy again. Much too red. This is really frustrating me. My computer is new, so I can't see why there would be any problem with the DVD burner, but if two DVDs with the same export settings are coming out differently, I'm thinking it might have to be a problem with either the DVD burner or the DVDs?
Can anybody suggest anything? I'm dying here.

  • How can I make a simple Pendulum movement

    Hi,
I am quite new to motion and at the moment I am thinking that I am tiring to run before I can walk this idea of mine.
I am trying to make a repeating pendulum movement, like the movement of the Newtons cradle with the 4 balls, the energy of the swinging outer left ball is transferred to the outer right ball on contact etc. Each ball will show a short looping video footage.
Is there a simple way of creating an arced motion path (upwards and outwards) for the first ball and then reversing it along the same motion path, but then copying this path to the opposite side, mirroring the complete movement?
I have tried converting to a simple motion path to keyframes but I get into a bit of a mess.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    PowerMac 2x2.5GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

I actually just did an animation based on that desk decor thing... it was easy once i figured out what to do...
Now, i tought myself motion, so my way may not be the "best" or quickest but it worked. First...import the object/make the object or whatever. second, go to behaviors and take basic motion path. After that, take the bezier curve adjustment and arc the line. That will get you the object going up in a swing or down...depending on where you put the start point on the curve. After that, copy the actual motion curve, but put the new end point to where the old start point was...basically invert the motion (if there is a simpler way to do this please tell me). that will get the object to go up/down then down/up.
So that gets the basic motion of a half swing.
If your object hits another object (like in the desk thing) make sure your snap lines are on because youll need them to line up the motion. Do the same thing to the second object as you did to the first, but going the oposite way. The snap lines will help guide you to make sure the second object goes as high as the first. To make it look correct i pretty much eyeballed the connection of one object to the next going frame by frame. I also added the "ease at end" motion to the rising motion path to add a realistic touch.
If this is confusing i'm sorry...

  • How can i make a simple image viewer in JAVA?

i know this is a silly doubt...but 'm new to java
i have to make an image viewer which can also zoom the image
    please help me
    advance thanx

    Create an java.awt.Image object
Display it in a java.awt.Panel object
    using java.awt.Graphics.drawImage
some of the drawImage methods let you scale, clip, and flip the image.
That's AWT. It may be easier in Swing.
I think this could be written in under 50 lines of code. Maybe under 25.
Read the tutorials and the API. All will become clear.
If you're new to java, you might be better off posting to the New To Java forum.

  • How can I make sucesfuly a DVD on Final Cut Pro

Hi I wonder wo can help with this problem

If you have finished a project export it as a quicktime movie...the higher the quality of this movie, the better will be the quality of the DVD you get. I have found out that the codec Pro Ress 4444 gives a high quality of DVD than a movie with a Pro Ress 422 {HQ} codec.
After you have your exported movie, right click upon the file and click the option burn to disc...see the screenshots given below:
    Happy burning!

  • How can I make a simple voice recording with no instrumentals?

I just want to record a song or two, save them individually and then burn to a cd.  I don't need all of Garageband whistles and bells.  I'm intimidated at the new 'event/project' start menu.  I don't want to select a key or timing.  I just want to sing the song using the mic on my iMac. This is not going to be posted for the general public and I don't want or need fancy.  Suggestions? Guidance?
I mistakenly posted this first to the podcasts site.

there's nothing to fear there, pick "Acoustic Instrument" for a simple "no bells" recording track

    then don't.
if you don't intend to use any of GB's tools, then the key and tempo don't matter

  • How can I make a simple circle in html5/css3?

I have cs5 and the html5 pack installed. I draw a circle on a new document. Now what?

You are right canvas can be used to render rastar graphics, however we don't generate the canvas code directly from Illustrator. Instead this pack lets you mark some elements within a design as Cavnas,  when the SVG output is generated those elemented would be treated as canvas within SVG so that you can have pixel level control on those elements.
Please refer to http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/illustrator_html5/illustrator_html5_userguide.pdf for details on this and other features of the pack.

  • How can I make a homemade video on iDVD transition from one chapter to the next?

For example, I usually have 4 chapters for my projects.  I coach basketball so each chapter represents a quarter.  When quarter 1 ends, it goes back to the menu...rather then going right into quarter?

    Hi
Not 100% on Your question - but may be this helps.
Play all resp. one chapter at a time
    Play All Button
    1. There are NO - Play All - button in any version of iDVD
    2. It can be faked in several ways
Easiest and most fault proof way is to make a doublet movie containing All and with
Chapters set to match. It will take up x2 space but is easy to understand and produce.
Cons: Tried this in iMovie’11 by Exporting out each part as a full Quality QT.mov then Importing back into new events and putting these into a new project (Play All project). Resulting DVD had Audio that was OK (as parts) - BUT the picture was very bad and standing photo were cut of in height. So the Play All movie has to be created from same material and exactly in the same way as the individual parts + then Chapters has to be set to match.
    • It's said that one can put all movies into a Photo/SlideShow and this will also
give the function of a Play All button - Tested - and ONE HAS TO un-cheque - Scale pictures to TV-Safe area else it will be a black frame all around and a small picture !
    Mike Evangelist1
You might be able to get close to what you want by using a slideshow in iDVD. (It's not widely known, but you can put videos in a slideshow.) If you set the slide duration to manual, playback will pause after each movie/slide, and you can continue with the 'next' button.
    3. Using another program to do this e.g.. Roxio Toast™ where there is a Play All button option.
    Summary
    a. Making a Play All movie with same care as the individual Part movies - gives a very Good Result
    b. Using Roxio Toast™ - also an usable way to go
