How can i make a Transparent background in flash

I'm developing a web page for a small business I'm new to
flash, I have been trying to learn flash for a vary long time and
only recently had the time and resources to do it. I have
secsessfuly made the menu and actions to work how i wanted them to
so when you hover over the butten a drop down menu apears however
my problem is when i export this to the web page a white background
is present. i need it to be transparent so you can see the web page
under the flash menu. how can i obtain this effect?

In your publish settings, under the HTML tab is a dropdown
under "Window Mode". Select Transparent Windowless and hit publish.
It will generate all the needed code to do what you ask, copy that
and insert it into your desired page.
Basically learn from the flash generated example, its
properties in the embed code that have it set to "transparent".
Take a look at the source code on to see a live example.

Open the picture file
Use one of the selection tools to select the foreground
Place the selection on its own layer (Layer>New>Layer via copy or CTRL+J) - this will be Layer 1
Delete the background layer
If you want to save it, use a file format which supports transparency, e.g.PNG

How do you make hyperlinks/buttons work in Flash/SWF Captivate 5.5 presentations? This did not seem to be an issue with Version 4. I cannot publish to video (i.e. mp4) or as an executable file for posting on our internal system. If it cannot be done in Flash/SWF, how else can I get buttons/hyperlinks to work? Thank you.

How can I make a transparent animated gif?

I'm using CS2. I have an animated gif that I want to take the black background out of so that the animated part of it is all that remains.

I basically want to remove all of the black background from the image so that the animated tesseract is all that remains. I know how to open the gif to expose the layers using ImaegeReady, then edit them in PhotoShop. But when I made the black areas of each layer transparent (by selecting the RGB channel, inverting the selection, and hitting delete), saved a copy, and tried viewing it, it seems to just display all of the transparent layers constantly instead of cycling through them.
Can someone please help me figure out how to make an animated gif with a transparent background? If I lose some of the black areas of the animated part (since they seem to get deleted when I remove all of the black background) it's no big deal. I just need to know how to do this so that it plays correctly.

 Well, George...the only reason I can think of is because it's an animated GIF, and GIFs only support one layer.
 
 Whatever application it was created in should have been able to render it out with a transparent BG. But I suppose the creator had his/her reasons for going with the black BG.

I Have a Document in Indesing.File is a Psd document and doesn't have background. I make some designs with this file in indesign then again I want to use it in photoshop, but when I make it PDF (x3/2002) and open in photoshop white background is comming.

I've never seen a PDF exported from ID that didn't open with a transparent background in Photoshop unless there actually was some sort of fill. Are you sure you have used a paper-filled frame?

I can't make a transparent background...

I have a text logo on a white background and need to make the background transparent. However, the logo is movable on the white but is a part of the same layer. When I try to add a layer that is transparent, it comes in white. I don't know how to have the logo on a transparent background. How do I get rid of the white?

Find the magic wand in the left tool bar 4th one down.
Click and hold until a popup shows and select the other tool called the quick selection tool. With that tool enabled drag across the white (from 1 side of document to the other side) hit the delete key. What happens?
I had some success with this....in Photoshop it looks like I have a transparent background but when I insert the image in Word over a coloured background, the white is still there. I’ll paste these below. I cropped it a bit, too. (hard to tell but it's the grid behind the word now not white. I even remembered inside the 'o' for instance! :-)
oh, and I saved it as a jpeg. That should be fine, right?

How can I make a FlashAlbumExporter background transparent?

I really like the very cool FAE (as suggested on this most excellent forum) but the gui offers no choice as for background opacity. A little search on the net reveals a few ideas but none of them seem to work. I am using the following iframe code in iWeb:

I don't know if the bg transparency is controlled in this iframe code, in the index.html file created by FAE or in the xml file created by FAE. So far I have tried:
Remove the background-color: #181818; from the index.html didn't make any difference.
Adding <bgcolor transparency="0"> in the xml made simpleviewer not display at all.
Another web site was discussing using html in the HTML snippet widget instead of iframe and it seems to address the transparency issue. But it seems rather old and is setup to use a movie instead of a photo album so I'm not sure how to convert it. Here is that code:

If that's what you're doing, then just turn off the visibility of the layer that you made the selection on - most likely the BG layer by clicking on the eye icon in the layer's pallet. You change the bg layer, as I mentioned above, and after you make your selection, click on the add layer mask icon in the layer's pallet, This will add a layer mask with your selection. If you hold alt/opt while doing this, it will create a inverse layer mask.

How can I disable the transparent background and/or make it opaque?

I have been using Firefox 3.x and then recently switched to 4.0b11. The new beta has a transparent (translucent) background at the top of the page. I have a brightly colored and patterned desktop (Win7, 64-bit) and this shows through Firefox's window. It is extremely annoying. The former version of FF was opaque. I want to know how to make FF 4.0 opaque as well.

Cmd-Ctrl-F is set to go Full Screen in Safari and Mail, and probably all others, so I doubt an update changed it to Facebook.
Cmd-Ctrl-T is not enabled for anything on my Mac.
Perhaps you installed something that causes that functionality.

How can I make grunge transparent?

I am very new to Illustrator but have had a little experience creating artwork in Photoshop. In Photoshop, I created a t-shirt design where I used the eraser tool with a grunge brush to erase color in spots so that the color of the shirt was visible within the design where I erased. I am working on a new t-shirt design in Illustrator where I would also like to have this look, but the eraser tool doesn't seem to work the same in Illustrator as I am not able to select a variety brushes. Is there a way to add transparent grunge to a shape in Illustrator? I hope this makes sense...

Hi Cheryl, I am hoping you won't mind helping me out again. Like I said I am a complete newby and really only do this kind of artwork for a charitable beer festival I am in charge of organizing. This is the first year I am trying to use Illustrator instead of Photoshop, both of which are amazing programs.
I found a tutorial called Grunge Construction, by Gilles Landy, which is a very good tutorial and I believe is about the same process as you suggested. It seem to be exactly what I want to do, and I have tried to follow all the steps exactly as it says, but I can't get it to work for me. The funny thing is, the first time I tried to make grunge on a simple practice shape, it worked, but I haven't been able to get it to work since and I've tried like 8 or 10 times (even with just a simple shape).
There are a couple of steps that I'm not sure about, so I must have just gotten lucky the first time I tried. Here is a link to the tutorial with the steps I took and below are the questions I have.http://http://www.istockphoto.com/article_view.php?ID=127
All my questions are concerning the Illustrator portion of the tutorial in Step 4:
1. Step 4 says to "combine the two images." So does that mean to open my logo and bring my grunge image into my file by using the "place" command? Is that the appropriate way, and do I place it in its own layer or do I place it on the same layer along with all my grouped objects (I have a number of layers to my logo). Also, is it safe to assume that the grunge should be placed on top of my grouped logo objects?
2. Also, it says to "Select the image and go to select > arrange> send to back. Do you think it means to select my grunge image or my logo group? I think it means my logo group, but assuming my grunge texture is already on top, wouldn't the logo group already be in the back???
3. I tried to select both the logo group and and the grunge to use the Minus Front in the Pathfinder palette, but I'm doing something wrong, because I don't get the grunge knock out, most of my logo gets completely gone.
I hope I don't sound too ignorant, but I feel I am very close to getting this. There is just something I am either missing or not doing correctly. If you can clarify it for me or would do things differently I would sure appreciate your expertise. Keep in mind I need some detail, though.

See which form of ActionScript you used to make the site.
Open the Actions panel and see whether you've chosen AS versions 1
& 2, or AS 3. If you've picked the earlier versions, you can
attach a link easily to each button by clicking on the button, and
adding a little code in the Actions panel. Turn on ScriptAssist to
make it easier. Click on "on" and choose "release" or "press" or
both. Then scroll down the commands on the left and add getURL. You
will then have a few lines that say something like, on(Release)
getURL("putyourpageurlhere"). See bottom for exact syntax. That's
all. The new .html or .php page will load when the button is
clicked.
If your buttons are not actually four-state buttons, but
graphic or movie clip symbols, you will have do it a little
differently. Instead of attaching the code to a button, you attach
it to a keyframe. You give your symbol an instance name in the
property panel, then in the Actions panel create a function that
says essentially: when you click on this instance (onRelease)
getURL.
If you're using AS3, the concept is similar but the code is
different. With a quick search you can find dozens of code examples
that you can cut and paste.
